I purchased a Philips DVD to go with my Philips HDTV. Bad Move! The remote with brand new batteries has to be next to the device to have any effect. The device is noisy and cumbersome! Do not buy this DVD player!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's not so great: The slow start-up and remote
I would have to agree with some of the other reviews on the remote issue. It is a little slow to respond and needs to be directly pointed at the player in order to work. Other than that, it works great!! I love it! Can't beat the price!

We had to call the support number to help get this set up for netflix and our wireless network.
Like other reviewers, I agree that the remote could be improved. You must be pretty close and holding it "just so" to get it to work. If you want to just skip the remote, you can't entirely because there are only 4 buttons on the front of the machine.
I have no complaints about the picture quality or the price.

What's great about it: Wireless and Netflix ready
What's not so great: slow and sometimes unresponsive
I bought this as an inexpensive upgrade to a Netflix ready, built in wireless Blu-Ray player. It works fine most of the time, but you really have to press the buttons hard to get the machine to respond, both on the remote and on the actual machine. So that's a bit annoying, but overall it's a good bet for the money.

What's great about it: ease of use and very simple user interface
What's not so great: not a lot of inputs
Well once again I got this blue ray from another place but it's the same model, first off if your looking for many apps to rent movies this BR is not for you, there for it only has vudu and netflix, however if you rent movies and play them through the usb then this is for you it plays the most common formats avi,divx,wmv,mp4,mk and it also plays subtitles for foreing movies! which is nice, playing blue ray movies look reall nice on this BR, you also get the wifi adapter i have notice some comments that said they didnt get it, you get the adapter or it's built in the BR, i also read that the remote it's very sluggish to respond well i find out that the batteries are the ones to blame i just change them and problem solved, this BR also plays other dvd regions just look online on how to do this with this model.one thing tho you only get video and hdmi and coxial connections and thats it, but for the price i pay i cant complain.

The set up was very easy and like the picture even on the older HDTV. I agree with the other reviewers though about the remote. It is very slow to respond.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, Wi-Fi built in, good price
What's not so great: Slow, difficult remote
This unit was easy to set up with my Wi-Fi and it does provide an excellent picture with DVD, BlueRay and Wi-Fi. However, the remote has trouble getting the unit to respond. You have to aim it directly at the receiver and hold it just right at the same level.

This blu ray player has good quality playback. Remote does not always respond. Not many Apps, only Netflix and Vudu. It would be nice to be able to download Apps for other entertainment sites.
