My computer has Windows XP. The first time through, it said two speakers were out of phase. After correcting that, I tried to rerun the set up, but it just looped the same page and would not run any checks or proceed. I then uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. I went through to the point it was at the first time and it still would not run any checks and looped the same page every time I hit the next page button. It had connected both installs with the Pioneer website so it should have been functioning. I, therefore, can not rate performance because I took it back. It is too big an investment to have such a hassle trying to set up.

What's great about it: Killer Home Theater System. Very versatile and elegant.
What's not so great: System is smarter than me. Large monthly payments. :)
After receiving a Samsung Model # UN55D6000SF 55” LED TV, also from Best Buy, for Christmas, I finally had the “excuse” I needed to build the Home Theater System I wanted. Being without a sound system for over twelve (12) years, I needed to get educated on what’s was out there. The Magnolia Team at Heritage Trace was instrumental in helping me pull together a killer system.
Starting with the Pioneer Elite Model # VSX-53 770W Home Theater Receiver, which is the foundation for my system, I was amazed with the power, multi-zone control capabilities and internet connectivity. With all the numerous inputs, I had plenty of room to tie in the TV, Pioneer Elite Model # BDP-52FD Blu-Ray Player, Zune Docking Station/Player, Wii and Verizon FiOS DVR, with room for more components when the budget is available.
I found it simply amazing how sophisticated the receiver is to include the full phase calibration feature for fine-tuning your speakers. I already had in-ceiling speakers for rear channel sound, but with the addition of Bowers & Wilkins Model # CM5GB for front speakers, B&W Model # CMCCGB for center channel speaker and B&W Model # ASW61STB subwoofer, the calibration microphone and automatic setup quickly optimized sound quality for all the speakers.
To top off the killer system experience, I added Control4 Model # HC-300C that fully integrates all components into one (1) operating remote. I can use the Control4 hand-held remote, the Samsung Model # GT-P7510MAYXAB/16G Galaxy Tablet 10.1, iPod Touch or wife’s iPhone, to control the Home Theater System. With Control4, I can expand to include entire house control/monitoring for lighting, security system, thermostat, etc. I have also added Netgear Model # MS2110-100N Home Media 1TB Network Storage System for all my music, video and pictures.
Given the extensive acquisition, I cannot emphasize strongly enough how impressed I was with the knowledge and expertise of the Magnolia and management team at Heritage Trace along with their patience in working with me to get all the right elements in place. Not to be out done, the Geek Squad was fabulous in their efficiency, thoroughness and attention to details in installing the system. With four (4) guys, it took them over eleven (11) hours to do the initial installation. The money was well spent for their expertise. I highly recommend using Geek Squad for your installs, no matter how big or small.
Once again, Best Buy has provided outstanding products and service!
This product has... Plenty of power for all my needs, Interfaces well with TV, Easy to use controls, Good multi-zone capability

The A/V receiver is the central processing unit of a home theater setup, and the VX-53 is up to the task. THe number of inputs and outputs handles all my requirements with room to spare. The up conversion is well done and produces a quality picture on the 60" HD TV. The entire system is linked in my home network and allows for updates and control by Pioneer's iPad app.
I especially like the full phase calibration feature. I have different models of speakers attached and the included microphone and automatic setup within the receiver's processor allows for a quick assessment and adjustment of the system's speakers to optimize the audio experience!

What's great about it: Too Cool! Lots of functonality, very versitle
What's not so great: Big manual
Finished my New Media room 2 weeks ago.
Epson 8350 Projector Sony 400 Disk BD Player
Pioneer Elite VSX 53 Receiver Paradigm Speakers
Logitech Harmony 1100 Sony PS3
This setup works Great, after getting everything hooked up (I used Geek Squad) It sounded super, then we did the calibration on the system, Pioneer includes a special mic and program that takes about 15 minutes to run. I thought this was going to be a waste of time, boy was I wrong. The sound went from super to simply amazing. There are 6 hdmi inputs, I cannot figure out what else to plug into it. I did a lot of research before making these purchases. I went to the custom installers, read online reviews, checked out brick and mortars, these components were the result. The Pioneer AV Receiver is cutting edge, it works with my ipad and there are more options than I can describe (Still learning) totally satisfied with it and it has the capabilities to expand into other rooms when my piggy bank recovers. The Epson 8350 was another excellent choice. I was biased aginst it from the start. They basically are ugly white and gray boxes. I allowed up to 4K for the projector, looked at JVC, Panasonic and many others, there were several good choices however the Epson got rave reviews and in my direct comparisons I could not see any differences in the projectors costing up to $2700 more. Practical choice and the right one. The only thing that would change my mind would be the desire to watch 3D movies but, I don't especially like them because of the glasses, I do think the technology will get to the point where I would like to have that option, but not yet time to invest. The Sony BD player is great, the only drawback is that you can't connect with Netflix etc, but for $600 and 400 disk storage I don't care. If I decide I want to view Netflix etc there are several other options, Google TV etc. that are cheap enough and work better than BD Players on the internet.(Remember that there are 6 HDMI ports) Hope this helps!
PS This may sound like a Best Buy ad, but it is the truth. I used the Geek Squad, Cheaper than custom installers, did a Great job, Scheduling the apt was a major pain, first response was to tell me the installation would take place between 7 am and 6 pm so be home. I did eventually get this narrowed down to a reasonable time period. They did a good job setting up the Harmony remote and will be back in 4 more weeks to calibrate the projector. The picture and sound are amazing may not go the Movies ever again! ENJOY LIFE!!!!

What's great about it: Video Processing plus Sound / Surround
What's not so great: Power cord could fit more securely. I used an old Monitor IEC Cord that fit snug.
I first purchased the Elite VSX 52 and I had it for a couple of weeks and then decided to update to the Elite VSX 53.
I have multiple HDTV's so the dual HDMI out is nice.
Football time I can have two HDTV's..Living Room and Patio with the game and Sound.
Setup was easy and the E53 has an extra MCACC setup step..Full Band Phase Control / Group Delay.
The HDMI Control worked good on both receivers.
The Sound/Surround and Video Processing is Great!
You can adjust the Audio and Video per Input on both the E52 and E53.
Plus it just Looks really Sharp with the Gold Text and Blue LED's
Lastly the Elites have a 2 Year Warranty compared to 1 Year for the VSX's.
Two Thumbs Up!
