I love my new AVR, but the customer service at Pioneer is horrible. Wait times of 5-10 minutes, and when you do get them on the line, you can't understand them because their microphones are too close to their mouth and the sound is really bad. They advertise AirPlay and such, but you have to buy extra modules to make that work (AS-WL300 wireless card). All of this should be built into an Elite receiver. The sound is really good and there is about 90% less heat generated with the new amplifiers. I can't say I would recommend this product because of the bad service I have experienced, but the receiver has been a good quality product so far. It's just hard to get it setup without all the parts and such. The WL300 module that I ordered was bad, so I had to send it back for a replacement. At least Pioneer made that part easy, but I have yet to receive my replacement part.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Advance, versatile, and affordable, excellent sound, powerful, and class D amplifiers
What's not so great: GUI not friendly to average users and heavy (40lbs)
After hearing Pioneer's newest 2011 Elite receivers hit the market it was a must see. When I had a chance to fully use the receiver I realized how well built and advanced it was compared to its 2011 competitors. Pioneer has out done themselves by creating a receiver that can assign each speaker channel, has dual digital signal processors (DSP), has a 32bit sample rate instead of the standard 24bit, gold connectors on the back, and a great Marvell Qdeo video processor.
This is one of the best consumer receivers on the market. The price might be a little steep for some but with the functions that this receiver has is well worth the price.

Plenty of power for all my needs, Interfaces well with TV, Good multi-zone capability, class d amplifiers (3rd gen), 140 watts/channel (9x), marvell® qdeo™ 1080p / 24fps w/ 3d passthrough, 192khz / 32-bit high sampling, dual digital core dsp engine (ti aureus™ x 2), only 370 watts power consumption!!, gold plated connections
