What's not so great: Bad Hard disk and cheap LCD internal crack
I purchased this laptop 4 months ago brand new. Since then after three months hard drive failed and sent toshiba repair depot and received seen lines on display and sent back to repair depot.Now they are saying LCD internal crack warranty not covered .Due to repair depot problem they are blaming customer.I wont buy toshiba product in my life time.very frustrating customer support and Cheap LCD which will break in shipping and POOR hard disk. POOR Repair depot facility.toshiba laptop worth not more than 300 $. I wont look back.

Poor battery life and power management

What's great about it: Price when it's on sale
What's not so great: Battery dies quickly during sleep and hibernation modes; not enough computing power
It uses the Toshiba power management program and it is terrible. Regardless of the setting, the battery dies overnight whether in sleep or hibernation mode. I have had four other laptops that would last a full 24 hours in sleep mode (longer in hibernation mode). I'm also disappointed with the performance of the computer. Maybe I should have bought an i5, but since I don't do any gaming, I thought an i3 would be sufficient, and I was wrong. It sometimes bogs down and struggles just to keep up trying to run multiple productivity programs. It also disappoints me that it does not have a backlit keyboard. Definitely should have checked this before making my purchase, so this one's on me.

What's great about it: plenty of ram. number keypad, good user interface and buttons
What's not so great: power cord, slow start up, i3 processer
this laptop is ok for light day-to-day use. It would better with an i5 instead of and i3 with extra ram to try to make up the differance. the power plug is a horrible design. its just a matter of time till I accidently snap it off. and its wiggles out on its own and my batterery dies while im in the middle of something important. I expected more. I'll probably buy a new charger with a 90degree bend so it lies flush alongside.

I bought this product in Aug. 2011. 3 months later in Nov. 2011, the hard drive had to be replaced. It is now Mar. 2012, and the hard drive crashed again. What a terrible product. I lost all my data the first time, luckily I bought an external hard drive and my data is backed up this time. Do not buy a Toshiba laptop. To make matters worse, the original warranty date stays in place. it seems that if they replace a major component, the warranty would start over at that date.

What's great about it: WORKS GREAT FOR TWO MONTHS ONLY
What's not so great: Cheap plastic, unreliable, poor customer service from both Best Buy and Toshiba.
I am so sorry I bought this. I have never had so bad an experience with a computer as this one, even after years with Packard Bell and HP who are so much better than this disappointing product. I had it less than two months and the hard drive crashed. After transferring everything I had onto this, it brought my life and business to an essential halt. Imagine having to transfer all of that data twice within three months along with all the registries, and lost time. That coupled with Best Buy's self serviing return and repair policies, the false confidence I had in their Geek Squad, this plastic unrealiable pretender of a computer is easily the worst product I have ever bought followed by the worst customer service experience I have ever had.
I wish I didn't own this and Best Buy would not give my money back or even have the decency of taking care of me faster than someone with a much older computer. DO NOT BUY. DO NOT BUY. DO NOT BUY. Unless you want to buy this from me, cheap. Pay more at a better store everyone.

Hard drive failed 3 times in one year

What's great about it: The speakers

I purchased this laptop 11 months ago brand new. Since then, the hard drive has failed three different times. Each time the hard drive has failed, the laptop is sent out for four weeks for repair. My laptop does not leave my house, sits on a cooling fan free of moisture, is kept clean and maintained, and has suffered absolutely no damage or mistreatment. In addition to the hard drive failing, the keyboard is large, too spaced out, and awkward to type on. If the laptop is even shifted, there is an obnoxious "humming/buzzing" noise that is produced while the hard drive is being "moved to a safer place". You can disable this or decrease the frequency, although I would not recommend this as apparently their hard drives are prone to failing even if this feature is fully functioning; I can't imagine what might happen should this feature be turned off.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Great specs for a great price. Toshiba is dependable
What's not so great: Just doesn't have a seperate gaming video card, but none would at this price.
First, Toshiba makes great laptops. I run a number of school computer labs and toshiba take a beating. Second, Toshiba has great prices. HP might have something cheaper, but it is just that.. cheap.
The P755 series laptops have geat features, all are the same but with different size hard drive, Ram, DVD options and external ports. This S5215 has all you need. It has tons of RAM, a bit hard drive, a DVD burner that is double layer (good for burning movies etc) It also has a HDMI port to connect to a TV or other HDMI device and it also has a VGA port to connect to older monitors or projectors ( great for work and school ). The screen is bright but does not have glare and movies look great. It has an i3 processor so it;s fast and can connect wirelessly to the new intel wireless TVs. Also the speakers where the best I have heard from any laptop at Best Buy including the high end Sony. All around this laptop is great for work and school. The only thing it does not have is a high end video card, so you can play sims 3 but not SkyRim

What's great about it: Its easy to set up and use.
I love the design and its easy to use at night as some of the keyboard lights up. I've had this laptop for about 1 month. So far it has been a great purchase and worth the money.

I personally own 2 Toshiba laptops and have purchased 7 of the same model for work. I set them all up myself and have no issues with any of them. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard most of the time. I would highly recommend this laptop for either home or business use.

I got this for my wife as a replacement for a HP Pavilion.
The difference is night and day, albeit a newer model.
She (and I) is very pleased with all aspects.
Not to mention the pre-installed applications.
Much more sense than HP.

Optical Drive doesn't work

What's not so great: Optical drive doesn't work
I received this computer for Christmas and the optical drive didn't work. I took the computer back to Geek Squad and they couldn't fix it so they sent it back. The company said there was nothing wrong with the optical drive and sent it back to the Geek Squad. When it got back to the store, they tried it again and the optical drive still didn't work. They offered to send it back again, but since I was still within my window to return it, I didn't want the hassle of having the problem come up again. Also, I was told by the Geek Squad agent that this wasn't the first computer of this model that the optical drive didn't work on. It may be just a fluke, but I'm not taking any more chances on this model.

What's great about it: Large clear screen, Fast, Good battery life
What's not so great: Didn't come with Office suite, Keyboard is strangely spaced, Mouse buttons are hard to click.
I have enjoyed having this computer so far. The battery life is good and it doesn't get anywhere near as hot as my Dell did. It wakes up and starts up quickly. The keyboard and mouse pad have taken some getting used to.
I would recommend this to a friend!

FRUSTRATED attempted to set the screen resolution to fit the screen. It seemes to be pre-set with smaller option checked and the only other option is medium but I absolutely do not want the images any larger. I am doing a lot of tabbing since I cant get the page to fit the screen. HELP

What's great about it: Lightweight, fast speed, great value
Bought this computer for our daughter who is in her first year of college. She loves it! It's not too heavy, fast speed, has a separate numeric keyboard, good battery life. A great value for a laptop for a college student. We purchased it online and delivery was on time before Christmas.

What's not so great: trackpad that freezes every so often-my trackpad could've been a lemon
I am not sure if the trackpad I got on this particular toshiba was bad, but it will freeze every once in awhile and I will have to click the mouse button below the trackpad three or four times to get it to unfreeze. Other than this issue, I have been happy with the computer. Runs smoothly with the i3 and 6 gb of ram and battery life is adequate. If I am not using media intensive programs, it tends to last around 6 hours. If using video or music, it tends to last around 3 hours, but I would say this is probably typical of any battery rated at "6 hours"

What's great about it: quiet, fast and easy to use
What's not so great: havent found a negative yet
I bought this as a christmas gift for my girlfriend, i set up and used it a little before giving it to her, and she has been using it for a few weeks now, both of us found it was a quiet, quick and effective laptop. I would recommend it, as it is good value for money.

What's not so great: spacebar, slow computer, crashes
I purchased the computer on Cyber Monday. Since then, it has crashed twice. Was told by Geek Squad that it was just a software issue. The computer is also a bit slow. One of the biggest nuisance is that the spacebar doesn't work all that great. When typing fast, it does not register the space...you actually have to press the spacebar in the middle of the bar...seriously...what a dud. I am not at all impressed with the computer. I was really not impressed with Best Buy's sales for Black Friday or Cyber Monday this year so the deal for this computer does not help make these problems easier to swallow.
