What's great about it: Cherrry mx black key switches, simplicity
What's not so great: Not many unique features, very bright caps, scroll, and num lock lights
I bought this because the pro starcraft 2 team, EG, was always plugging it, and I'm very happy with my purchase. The first day, the switch from a membrane keyboard to this felt awkward, but now my old keyboard feels like a piece of junk. Definitely buy this if you're serious about Starcraft 2 or any FPS.

What's great about it: Loud, great feel
What's not so great: No backlight, no USB ports, expensive, loud
Let me preface my review with my situation and purposes of the keyboard.
I'm a Macbook Pro user, so I was very skeptical of which mechanical keyboards were complatable with Mac OSX. I choose this one because there is no software needed/included, just plug and play.
I also bough this particular keyboard because I'm a Starcraft 2 player, and for any of you SC2 players out there, you know that team EG (Evil Geniuses) very strongly supports Steelseries.
Moving on to my actual review.
Performance and Feel:
This keyboard is a dream to type on. This is my first mechanical keyboard purchase and I must say I am VERY impressed. The keys actuate about 1/3rd the way down. When you apply pressure it remains the same all the way down, and springs back up the same. You can certainly achieve a "touch-type"ing method with this keyboard, although I haven't yet. On the con side, I have noticed that some of the double or triple wide buttons have a lower performance. Let's look at the right-shift key. When I press just the top-left corner with my pinky, as with normal typing, it has a stickier feel to it and is harder to push all the way. Move the finger half a centimeter to the right, though, and this problem goes away. I'm sure almost all keyboards have this problem, though. Same with the "0" key on the number pad.
Most of you probably already know about the main physical looks and features of it, so I'll just throw in my opinions of them. The three lights in the upper right corner (Num, Caps, and Scroll) and VERY bright. This is more of a pro for me, because it blinds my cat when she tries to walk on it. Not so great for late night gaming sessions though, I usually slip a piece of paper or something over it. If you need the extra USB ports and the headphone/microphone pass throughs, the 7G might worth the extra $50, plus a neat hand rest. (I'm still looking on eBay and Craigslist for one for my 6G!) The cord is rock solid though, a nice 6 -foot braided one.
Things I wish it had:
-Backlight
-USB 2.0 ports (If I'm paying $100 for a keyboard, it should really have a port...)
-adjustable feet on the bottom to raise and lower it
-dedicated macro keys like the Razer Black Widow
This is a real man's keyboard. Not only is it great for typing, you can beat someone over the head without it breaking. Metal internal construction is handy, sometimes.
I would recommend this to a friend!
