What's great about it: Observed 50% increase in download rates.
What's not so great: It would have been nice to have a button to suspend the connection.
I have internet service via Comcast. I had the same modem for 5 years (Motorola SB5101). I was getting downloads of 19 Mbps and uploads of 3.1 Mbps. After installing the new modem (SB6121), I am getting downloads of 30 Mbps (a 50% improvement) and uploads of 3.7 (not as much, but still an improvement).
I highly recommed this product.
P.S. - As part of the installation process, I had to call Comcast to provide them the modem's MAC address. Once they had this, the modem was setup. If the modem is linked to a wireless adapter or other gadgets (e.g. Vonage), it is recommended to unplug these and plug the SB6121 directly to the PC/Laptop used during installation.
Once the connectivity is verified and the modem is working, then the original wiring can be restored.

I bought this modem so that I wouldn't have to get ripped off for $10 a month from Comcast. The bonus was that I nearly doubled my download and upload speeds. It was simple to set up with a quick call to Comcast to switch the modem on the account.

Quite simply, this is the best cable modem built so far. It's DOCSIS 3.0 compliant so pretty much ANY ISP will be able to use it. The installer simply connected the modem and told me, "OK, you're online." I checked my router and saw that it was all good. I have never had any disconnects.

What's great about it: Consistently good performance
I decided to purchase this modem for use with Comcast after my previous DOCSIS 2.0 combination router/modem had many performance issues with locking, needing multiple resets, etc.
Since I've started using this modem with a separate router, everything has been running perfect. My speeds are excellent and I rarely ever have to reset the modem for performance issues. It was easy to setup. I only had to call Comcast to give them the MAC and plug it in and everything was good to go. I would highly recommend this modem to others.

I had been using the same modem for 12 years. Had become accustomed to the frequently dropped signals, etc and slow download/upload. I dreaded installing a new modem myself and even asked Cox to come to do it. The service rep encouraged me to do it myself as I would purchase a better modem than what Cox would install. I bought a new one and waited a week to install it because I dreaded doing it. Boy do I feel silly. This was really not much different than plugging in any new appliance. Took less than 5 minutes. Works great. No lost signals. Quick downloads/uploads. I'm an old lady (sorta). If I can do it you can do it.

I bought this router for the same reason many others have- because with it I save $7 bucks a month on my comcast internet bill. It is easy to set-up. Simply plug in all cables and call Comcast and tell them that you bought your own modem and want to activate. They will help you from there. Overall, the entire process took about 15 minutes, and that's including being transfered to the local equipment office to arrange for a pre-paid box be shipped to me so I can ship them their modem back.
As far as performance increase goes, I did a Pc internet test and am getting on average 15-20 Mbps d/l and up to 4 Mbps u/l. I imagine that is an improvement, but I also replaced my router at the same time. With both of them, I definitely see an improvement.

What's great about it: Fast, reliable, Comcast had no problems authorizing it
I was using a Motorola cable modem that I'd owned for at least 8 years, and I was having frequent problems with my internet connection simply dropping out. This required a re-set of the modem and with WiFi router. This modem has been a significant upgrade, providing speeds that are consistently higher than what I was getting with the old modem. More important, it is reliable and I have not had any problems losing the signal since upgrading. Comcast was able to authorize it with no problems.

I purchased this cable modem about 2 weeks ago and I am extremely happy with it. I immediately received a speed increase on my download and upload. I currently am a Charter Internet customer and am paying for 15Mbs (download) and 3Mbs (upload) speeds. Prior to upgrading from my old linksys modem, my speeds were consistently at or slightly under those speeds. However, after the upgrade I consistently obtain 38Mbs (sometimes faster) download and a solid 4.5 upload speed.
The setup couldn't have been easier. As soon as I plugged it in Charter recognized the change and asked for my new modem information and I was good to go. No problems after two weeks.

I purchased this modem about 6 weeks ago to replace my old motorola router which was purchased back in 2005. No point in paying the Comcast $7 rental fee which is basically highway robbery. My old router was DOCSIS2.0 and worked really well but wasn't the at the latest DOCSIS3.0 standard that this new modem is at.
This new motorola surfboard was easy to setup and has worked perfectly since I purchased it. All I had to do for setup was call Comcast and get it registered which took about 10 minutes over the phone.
I have no complaints about this model so far. I would recommend to anyone who has an old DOCSIS 2.0 modem to upgrade to this modem based off price, performance, and ease of setup.
