What's great about it: Observed 50% increase in download rates.
What's not so great: It would have been nice to have a button to suspend the connection.
I have internet service via Comcast. I had the same modem for 5 years (Motorola SB5101). I was getting downloads of 19 Mbps and uploads of 3.1 Mbps. After installing the new modem (SB6121), I am getting downloads of 30 Mbps (a 50% improvement) and uploads of 3.7 (not as much, but still an improvement).
I highly recommed this product.
P.S. - As part of the installation process, I had to call Comcast to provide them the modem's MAC address. Once they had this, the modem was setup. If the modem is linked to a wireless adapter or other gadgets (e.g. Vonage), it is recommended to unplug these and plug the SB6121 directly to the PC/Laptop used during installation.
Once the connectivity is verified and the modem is working, then the original wiring can be restored.

I replaced an out of date Comcast modem after being informed the "Blast" internet service download speeds were increased.
After updating download speeds doubled to 57 mbps. Upload remained the same 12 mbps (but increased upload was not part of the Comcast increase).
The modem has been running for a month and a half without any issues. Speed around the house is much quicker. We recently switched to internet streaming away from the out of control digital cable bills.

What's great about it: Light weight, compact, easy installation, great performance and so far no hiccups
What's not so great: Little more expensive compared to other good products
Excellent modem to ditch $7 rent to cable company for outdated Motorola modem and great speed, ease of installation for user having 50 Mbps package. Great for apartments (1 BHK). I suggest to use good quality wireless router to take advantage of this excellent modem.

Bought this modem as the ROI is 9 months on Comcast. It was so easy to set up. All I had to do was call Comcast and get the IP address added. Took 8 mins. Hasn't gone down once since I set it up. BB matching Amazon's price didn't hurt either!

Comcast supposedly upgraded the speed on their Xfinity internet service and indicated that in order to best way to achieve these download speeds was to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 router. The install of the Motorola unit was easy, and the cost wasn't too high. However, I don't think the difference in download speeds is substantially improved.

i have twc and there lease for router is ridiculous and dumb that's why i purchase this router and with the return fee i was able to upgrade my speeds up 20mbps/2mbps love it no more lease fee the price of it was high compare to ebay but i use my credit card so didn't bugged me that much buy now pay later get points get money rewards works out for me

After a month or so of owning this modem it's been a fantastic piece of equipment in every aspect, performance, size, compatibility with my internet supplier.
My only gripe is the thing tends to get pretty warm/borderline hot.

Great cable modem. I no longer have to pay my cable provider $7 a month to lease theirs. One year of ownership and it pays for itself. Performance is great, just by switching out modems I saw a 10% speed increase.

What's great about it: Great performance, maintains a stable connection
What's not so great: Needs to be well ventilated, setup can be difficult.
I'm very pleased with this modem and would buy again. It provides a consistently solid connection from Charter, my ISP. I have read that ISPs tend to upload their own customized firmware to the modem and that there can be major stability issues with Comcast.
Make sure to keep the modem in a pretty well ventilated location as it does put off some heat. You might also need to call your ISP and provide the MAC address listed on the bottom of the modem for a successful internet connection to be established.

I bought this when I switched to Comcast cable. After three weeks, I returned this to the store. It would have random periods where it would time out losing connection. Regular internet users would not notice this. If you were streaming video or playing online games you will notice as you will lose connection. If you ran a ping test with -t you would see over time "Request timed out" at random but sometimes frequent intervals causing packet loss and lag. Had Comcast to the home 3 times believing it was on their end. Frustrated I went out and purchased a Zoom Model 5341J which was cheaper. After getting it set up with Comcast, I have not had a problem since and my upstream and downstream are significantly faster than this motorola modem. I liked the interface screen for the motorola modem - it gave more information but the motorola modem and Comcast are just not compatible. Save yourself much frustration, you have been warned.

This is simple to install in home. Performance increased over 2.0 was noticeable on Comcast Blast Plus package (Still not getting 50 MBS but close). I would buy this again if I had a choice.

What's not so great: Size. Would like it smaller.
I use this for office but the family also enjoys it too so it needs to stay in a central location. I have a home office which sits far from my modem and the signal was very weak. After I installed this devise, which was easy to connect, the signal was fast and strong. I was told by the sales rep that if the signal has to pass through the kitchen sometimes it can get lost, but this devise had not trouble with any of that. I can now do my work without losing connection every minutes. Love it!

What's great about it: DOCSIS 3.0 for high speed cable broadband
What's not so great: Setup can be confusing for the uninitiated
Users with a high speed cable broadband subscription (20mbps+) will need this or a similar modem to take full advantage of the high data rates of these cable internet plans.
This modem seems to be one of the most widely supported and reliable DOCSIS 3.0 modems currently available at a reasonable price. Since cable modem rental fees can easily reach $84+/year, over time, buying your own modem can actually save you money.
The only downside is, depending on your provider, cable modem setup can be a onerous process - you have to get the modem authorized on your account and that means dealing with customer service. But, when your household has people playing XBOX, watching Hulu plus and browsing the web all at the same time with no-one complaining about slowness... it's all worth it in the end.
