What's great about it: The sound and ease of use!
What's not so great: It's larger than I'd like.. long and narrow. I'd rather a speaker that stands upright, with a smaller footprint.
I needed a speaker because the sound of my TV was horrible. (Watch for that review!!) The TV is in my bedroom, so I just needed something simple, hopefully inexpensive, but functional. The iLive speaker bar was almost perfect. The only down side was the size, but I had read the reviews before buying it and knew that it may be larger than I'd want. But it was easy to install and works fantastic.. so what more could you ask for?

What's not so great: Sound
Great value for the money, Love the ipod drawer for easy ipod palying. Also love the FM radio, so I can get my local radio news! Only downfall is the volume does not go high enough for some shows, but for overall everyday use its great.

What's not so great: Low maximum volume, affected by other remotes
I purchased a LCD HDTV and knew that the sound would be lacking, so I also purchased the iLive Bar Speaker since it did not cost hundreds of dollars and I did not want to have a separate subwoofer. The sales person told me that it was an OK system did not have a lot of volume and demonstrated this, but in a noisy store, it was hard to really judge. Since I was at the store I did not have the opportunity to research this item, but it was on sale for $80 with the purchase of the TV, so I thought I'd try it, especially since I would be able to dock my IPod. When I set it up, the first thing I noticed was that not only was the maximum volume low, but that the volume increased or decreased whenever I used the remote for the TV or the Comcast cable box to change stations. And there is no code to enter into the cable remote for this item. This became a pain very quickly - I had to use two remotes to watch TV and was constantly adjusting the volume after changing a station or checking the station preview guide. Then I found that most of the time I had to set the volume to the maximum and it still wasn't loud enough. I changed the sound settings on the bar and the TV, but nothing helped. I then read other reviews which mentioned high failure rates for this sound bar, so after less than one week, I returned it.

Please keep in mind what this IS NOT. it is not a stereo substitute. It is not a surround sound system. It can hook up to most tv's your phone an of course iPods and iPhones. It can charge them at the same time and makes louder your iPhone / iPod. It is a convient accessory if you don't want to do a full out system in your bedroom or guest room. Works well in medium to small bedroom ( >15x15) mount on a wall about 3-4 feet high maybe below a 32" tv and it will produce decent sound. ( casual quality not audiophile by any stretch) if you find on sale below $90 worth the bucks. Your mileage vary. Cheers

What's not so great: Doesn't have an optical digital audio hook up.
This sound bar has RCA hook ups galore but it doesn't support optical digital audio which many TVs have.

What's great about it: decent sound, fits in with decor so it hides well.
What's not so great: complete power down when turning off source audio
I purchased this unit to use with my new tv. I have no complaints about the sound quality versus the price I paid. My only issue is that the unit will not stay powered on when I turn off my tv. When it turns off, it's equal to unplugging the power, it loses settings. So I can't keep the clock set. I'm still in the process of experimenting with different connection setups that might keep it powered on without an active audio source. But haven't got it to work yet. When I turn my tv on, it powers up to standby, so I have to power it up to get sound.

What's great about it: Great price, east to install
I purchased this soundbar back in Oct. 2011 when I purchased my new television. I knew going in that I was going to want better sound than my tv speakers could provide but I didn't want to spend a lot more money. When I got this home I was happy to see that it included the audio cables! It was fairly easy to set up and once I got the time set on the clock I was ready to go.
The sound quality is pretty good, especially when you consider the price. The lower tones don't really come through too much but it handles country music through the radio tuner and my favorite 90's rock through the IPod dock. The main reason I purchased the soundbar though is because I watch a lot of movies and I like to be able to turn up the volume. Most television speakers don't have the sound quality I was looking for so I went for this inexpensive sound bar. Again, the bass and mid tones are not the best with this product but that can be easily supplemented with and subwoofer (the soundbar even has a spot built in to hook up the subwoofer.) I have been very satisfied overall with this purchase and have had great success recommending this product to customers.

I purchased this sound bar about a month ago. Within the first week, the iPod docking station stopped opening after being used twice. The device always had a strange sound coming from it while it was on. Two weeks later, the volume control stopped working, then shot up to full blast and stayed there. Needless to say, I returned it today. The customer service rep told me that they get returned all of the time and are horrible quality. I wish they had told me that before I bought it and wasted time hooking it up.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Never could get it to work so I returned it. Bought a new TV at the same time and like the TV but with a dvd and vcr hooked up to the TV there wasn't any way to hook this up as well.

I bought this because it was inexpensive. Well, you get what you pay for. I hooked this to my TV, and it sounded exactly like my TV so nothing gained there. Also, the remote only worked from 4 feet away or closer. I took it back immediately and got a refund. The clerk told me most people return these.

I bought this to compensate for the horrible sound that came out of my new Westinghouse TV. After getting sticker shock from the other sound bars, this seemed worth a gamble. I found it as an open box item which made it better. it is about 4- 6 inches in depth so I was lucky that I was putting it on a recessed shelf above the TV. It sounds great, especially compared to the tinny sound from the TV speakers. I can't comment on the iPod features as I would need a ladder to put it in the tray but I do open and close the tray remotely every now and then just to make sure it works. One downside is the lack of a universal code for using your Tv (or satellite) remote however I purchased a learning universal remote of the $15 variety and now have the TV, DirecTV, and sound bar working together!
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: Lack of HDMI or USB ports, item is somewhat on the heavy side
It's a very nice soundbar for the price and features. It does work with a 4th gen iPod Touch, an app is downloaded the first time it's docked. Sound is average but is good for listening to the radio or iPod. I was able to watch videos on my tv that were on my ipod touch. The only down side is that it doesn't have an HDMI or usb ports, just components and audio jacks. I have been using this soundbar more than my stereo and will probably have to upgrade to an 64g iPod because i'm running out of room!!LOL
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good sound, but have to use remote to get it to work, and remote seems a bit under-powered. Using it has turned into a hassle, since I can;t find codes to add it to my universal remote. I just use it for movies now.

I found that I could not hear my television well so I decided to buy some speakers. While at the store I was directed to the Sound bars. I purchased an "iLive" Sound Bar and hooked it up. I was not amazed at the sound quality, but I could now hear my television....but not anymore. After 5 mos. the Speaker quit working and Digital Products International, Inc. won't stand behind their product because they can't. Their product is cheaply made and too expensive. I would not waste my money, you'd get more entertainment from burning it!

It has good sound, works great for Ipod, just has nothing but rca and 3.5 aux. Good for people who want avg sound and its not an expensive unit. Not for advanced sound bar users. If you want the best high def sound, get something way better than this.
