What's great about it: The third part of an amazing trilogy

I looked forward to this game since the end of Mass Effect 2, went to the midnight release which I have done before, and planned an entire day dedicated to playing non-stop for 24 hours. I had a blast playing this game, seeing how my past decisions from the other two games play out in this game's story which had its faults but ultimately extremely moving and epic. Then I arrived to the end and was left baffled and reloaded the last auto load to see the other outcomes and was left speechless and unable to described what had just transpired. I was stunned at the cookie-cut cinematics that get played no matter what choice you make; how little the ending, which we were promise would make sense, didn't; how any of my decisions from this game or my other games are not even reflected in the endings at all; and no closure what so ever to the fate of the alien races or the people I had built emotional attachments to after my odd galaxy-altering decision or any other decision.
After spending days reflecting on my experience, I had come the conclusion that this game feels like it was rushed and we were gypped. All of the new characters from Mass Effect 2 that didn't have an important role in this game's story barely make an appearance (Grunt, Kasumi, Jacob, Morinth, Thane, Samara, Zaeed); major past decisions that may have a potentially detrimental effect on missions (IE the Rachni's death) were cheaply recanted or lazily explained; poor plot devices, such as MacGuffin and Deus Ex Machina, are used and not very well like we have come to expect from the excellent writers at Bioware. The game's gameplay and story stretch themselves too far in order to try to appeal to newcomers to the series and the genre that its lost a lot the RPG elements and is closer to a generic shooter game.
Despite some of the issues with the story and game (besides the ending) the game is overall pretty good. I was also rather surprised at how fun the multiplayer is though I don't like the way one has to go about buying boxes of random equipment in order to find better weapons or unlock other characters. However, my positive experience and almost everyone else's has been ruined by the broken promises and a terrible ending to what was supposed to be an epic end to an amazing trilogy. The ending itself ruins the story's replayabiliy. That is why a lot of reviews are giving this game only 1 star, and I am as well. I hope this sends a message to Bioware/EA, we Demand a Better Ending to Mass Effect 3.

This game is one of the best games I've ever played in my 30 years of gaming. It also has the singular most disappointing ending I have ever experienced in ANY media. In my opinion the majority of the game series is like playing the video game equivalent of Homer's Odyssey and Illiad. But the end portion is like someone ripped away what should have been Odysseus (read Shepard) reclaiming his home and replaced it with a portion of Snooki's autobiography or some other equivalent mindless drivel. And the tacked on Multiplayer is an unoriginal and subpar hoard mode.

What's great about it: Great story, amazing graphics, captivating sound, and incredible character developement
What's not so great: Supposedly bad ending (I didn't mind it)
If you are new to this game series, I highly suggest you buy the first two and play through them all. I have never enjoyed a game series as much as this one. Many people have complained about the ending to this game but after playing through every game in this series, I find nothing wrong with it. However, I am looking forward to the update that is supposed to be coming out to "fix" the ending. This game along with the other two in the series are definitely worth your time and money. On top of all the great things about the single-player, This game has a very fun and addicting multiplayer. They just updated it with new characters and levels and I am looking forward to the next updates.

What's great about it: Imports decisions from previous 2 games and DLC. Gameplay is awesome. Everything else.
A lot of people complain about the ending, but I think it's a great finish to the series. Even if you don't like the ending you will definitely enjoy the journey getting there.

There are plenty of posts about how disappointing this game was to its core fan base and here is another one. The game was so concentrated on saying goodbye that it failed to actually be a standalone enjoyable game. It was very nostalgic to see all those characters you met in the previous games but the way they decided to "resolve" things in the last level (and your final "decisions" in the game) are unforgivable. Bioware really messed this one up and now refuse to own up to it. Artistic integrity my eye. Avoid it if you can. And if you can't, join me and many others in never buying bioware products again.
On a side note they somehow made the multiplayer pretty fun. I, however, would gladly of traded it for better single player

This is a great game, until the end. I laughed and cried throughout until I got to the ending and went wtf? The ending was like reading a mystery and when you get to the end you find that the person who committed the crime wasn't even introduced until the ending, giving you no chance of solving it on you own. The rest of the game is well written and the ending feels like it was clumsily thrown in at the last minute.

Game is great Bioware did another great job however I think EA messed up on the ending. I am sure 95% of the people agree with me. Game flow, graphics, and sounds is best to none.

I bought this for my boyfriend as a gift and he loves it. He owns ME 1 & 2 and this one definitely surpassed his already high expectations. Great graphics and great plot (I watched him play because I wanted to know what happens!). Definitely recommend!

What's great about it: Fun to play. Upgrading characters and guns.
What's not so great: Those quiters and blanks who should practice on bronze.
Love this game. Currently my number one, and never comes out of the box. Haven't finished the story yet but will sometime soon regardless of the ending. A multiplayer gamer at heart. Used to clutching up zombie matches in Black Ops and now it's ME3. Modern warfare was fun for about a week.

What's not so great: the story, lack of continuity between the ending and the rest of the franchise
If you're familiar with Mass Effect, the combat is greatly improved over the two previous games. The voice acting, and audio in general, are outstanding. Unfortunately, the game falls short in several key areas. The visuals are far more dimly lit than previous games, which can bother a players eyes after a while. Outside of combat, several bugs in the game, such as the inability to import the face of the players custom character from previous games and issues with tracking game progress through the in-game journal, can disrupt the momentum of gameplay. While the graphics are generally improved, two-dimensional sprites appear throughout the game that look like animations form the late 1980's.
The single largest problem with this game is its story. While initially engaging, the ending presents an abrupt change in the underlying themes of the game. The player is left with many questions and almost no answers, as well as no feeling of accomplishment. The final moments of the game break with the established narrative in an incredibly jarring way. The concepts of choice and free will, essential to the rest of the series, are totally discarded. Also, the multiple endings promised by the developers were presented as three different colored explosions in otherwise identical cut-scenes. The actions of the player across all 3 Mass Effect games simply are reduced to a numerical score to determine how many colors the play may pick from for the final explosion.
Though the game was enjoyable, the ending reduced the replay value of the game to nothing.
The multiplayer mode included in the game is only a cooperative horde mode. While fun, it doesn't have the lasting factor that competitive multiplayer modes in other games offer.

As far as special editions are concerned, the only reason this was better than the normal edition is that it included the soundtrack and the day one DLC. As we all know, the graphics, voice acting and general storyline are superb. Unfortunately with the ending provided by Bioware/EA, I downgraded my overall storyline rating. I am so disappointed with this product that I will most likely boycott EA/Bioware unless they are willing to get off their high horse and apologize to fans for such an illogical ending to one of the greatest sci-fi game series ever.

I have to say the complex story line of Mass Effect 3 is thrilling. This time around there isn't just the paragon and renegade story lines. Each game play is different, with all the choices made in the first two games affecting the gameplay greatly. No two games will be alike. This is a must play for any Mass Effect fan. If you've never played any of the game, I suggest picking up 1 and 2 and playing through them before starting this title. While you can play 3 without having played the others, you'll miss out on so much story that way.

What's great about it: Many powerful moments between characters during the game.
What's not so great: Shoddy ending that ignores the fundamentals of how to tell a story.
If you haven't heard about it yet, ME3's ending is totally whacked. Plot holes galore and utterly inconsistent with what the game developers promised in pre-release statements to the media.
Overall, would you enjoy playing the game? Up until the last 10 minutes, yes. The ending makes you feel like someone just kicked you in the family jewels. The last 10 minutes makes the whole series seem like a waste of time. Where I could play the first two games over and over just for the fun of the story, this game makes be wonder, "why bother" after beating it once.
The debate rages as to whether the stock ending is a ruse and a future DLC will give fans a more credible ending, but until then, why reward Bioware/EA for flushing an incredible franchise down the toilet with such sloppy writing?
Pick this up from the bargain bin. The only good extra you get in the collector's edition is the Prothean teammate...which is available as a DLC you can buy on Xbox Live anyhow. The rest is bunk.
