What's great about it: Fun story, nice players
What's not so great: Graphic lag
Fun game. I was hesitant when I bought it, but I've had a lot of fun playing. Only problem I have is lag, especially during space combat. Sometimes it's so bad you can't do much on the missions, so I've given up trying space combat and instead just stick to everything else.

What's great about it: Immersive and engaging stories; polished UI; Collector's Edition is loaded
What's not so great: It's clear that some features were rushed and are still buggy
I've been playing WoW for 3 years and have tried out other MMOs. I enjoy the Star Wars universe but am not a super fan. Aside from the movies, I've read a few of the books and comics but haven't really gone farther than that. The only Star Wars game I played before this was Pod Racer. That being said, after seeing the screenshots and hearing about the play similarities to WoW, I figured this might be worth a go. I was able to get into beta and was hooked from day 1.
I think the biggest thing going for SWTOR is the storylines. They are so well written and engaging from the beginning. And the voice acting is the best I've seen in a while. I remember playing the Monkey Island series way back when, and I haven't really enjoyed voice acting in games since then. But in SWTOR, it's top notch.
And unlike other MMOs, this one really makes you feel invested in your character by the choices you make and how you interact with others. I'm not a big RP'er in MMOs but I find myself doing so here without even thinking. I actually have caught myself going, "My character wouldn't do that."
I realize they tried to get this game out in time for Christmas and it's evident in some of the bugs you come across. But overall, for an MMO it's well polished, especially its UI. A lot of MMOs have some pretty clunky UIs but I actually had no problems with SWTOR's.
I picked up the Collector's Edition and the picture doesn't do this thing justice. When I received the box, I was shocked. I thought maybe they made a mistake and sent me a microwave or something. This thing is huge. And it's loaded with quite a few extras which are quite interesting.
Overall I think this game's going to keep me engaged for quite some time. The replayability is definitely there and being an MMO, there's always something to do. I highly recommend this even to people who've never played an MMO before as it is also solo-play friendly.

The collectors package itself had far more to it than I expected. Map, booklet, game, statuette, soundtrack. All of it was in excellent shape and arrived quickly.
The game itself is, in my opinion, the best MMO I've yet seen. Cinematics, storyline, and great game play.

What's great about it: An immediately fun and engaging game.
What's not so great: Occasional bugs still...
I understand my summary will truly hurt the fanboys out there, but I played WoW from release and SWTOR is much better from day one. I am excited about the potential this game has. It isn't perfect, the storyline is downright cheesy and predictable at times, while the graphics are not as impressive as I had hoped. However, I feel much better about sticking it out with SWTOR than WoW. Lightsabers or Pandas... ?

What's great about it: DUH!!! STAR WARS!!!!!!!
What's not so great: Not Free to Play.
Very Fun. The cinematics are awesome and give me chills. Very quick gameplay very clean. I am running it on a 5-6 year old system with no problem. PVP gets a little choppy (still very playable tho) on this old system I think but hey I am just happy to be able to play without dropping $2k on a system. Haven't done much crafting yet but it looks interesting. Rated Teen for a reason, so no, not good for the kiddies. The collectors stuff looks cool but honestly it is still in the box in the closet ;) Come join the fun!! Empire or Republic you choose ;)

What's great about it: Gorgeous graphics; great storylines for each class and gender
What's not so great: Still new; current maximum character level 50 may feel limiting to hardcore gamers (expansions will likely extend this)
I love an MMORPG in which I look forward to the storyline as much as I do the player-versus-player battles. This game has gorgeous cinematics, and the selections you make during conversations are as much an aspect of game play as the quests themselves. BioWare has done a lot to make this game attractive and addictive. There's still some kinks to work out to make PvP fun for everyone, but they're hard at work on that task as evident from their first three months of patches. There are servers for people who just like PvE, for those that prefer PvP, and for those of either inclination who like role playing through the game. Come join us in a galaxy far, far away!

What's great about it: It's Star Wars!
What's not so great: It's more a grind then WoW.
If you're bored and just need to do something, this will fit the bill. It is far from fun, though yes - it's a blast for the first many hours but then the usual grind kicks in and you start to wonder, could they have done better? By the time you've gotten halfway through the game - by the way you can only play through in a specific pattern, it's a rail design not anything like a sandbox MMO, you start to find reasons not to play. Heck doing the dishes was more exciting at one point.
In a few years it may come of age but personally, right now, it simply was designed more to be a theme park - come and ride then leave - and more on the disappointing side with loads of let down the further you play.

What's great about it: Superb Voice Acting
What's not so great: Boring Fast - Desolate Lowbie Areas - Generic Weapon/Armor/Sounds - In-Game Mechancis From Many Other Games Thrown In
First, let me start out by saying I canceled my account two days ago. This game just was not for me. I will not knock the game or say it is bad, but I will point out some reasons I feel that it is not worth the money.
Star Wars: The Old Republic, dubbed also as SWTOR, has a hefty price on this Collectors Edition (CE). It really does not offer much for this price. The main thing which jacks the price up is the figure that comes with the game. The in-game extras, I have not used, and really do not see other people using.
It is just short of two months since the game has released. In three days, I started seeing people at maximum game level. Easy-mode much? When it comes to my games, I enjoy a good challenge. At this point in the game, there are so many level 50's running around, that all the lower-level zones are desolate. If you are a casual gamer, you will not see many people in the lowbie zones.
The voice acting and storyline is great, in my opinion, however, not MMORPG worthy. This could have easily been a single player game. The MMO elements are just not there. Really no reason to 'need' to group up, since you can solo the game to max level.
Crafting in the game is also easy-mode. Just tell your companion(s) to gather your materials. Tell them to craft your stuff. Sit back and wait. It is that simple! If you enjoy crafting in your MMO, do not even look at this title.
Performance wise, this game runs great. The graphics are very smooth and the scenery is colorful. Sound on the other hand is a bit... bad. Generic even. Everything sounds the same. Doesn't seem like they added very many unique sounds. This is also the same with weapons. You seen 1 blaster or lightsaber, you've seen them all. Not very detailed. Most of the weapons/armor is generic. You'll see a lot of people running around in the same looking stuff.
On a plus side, this was one of the most well-polished MMO's I have ever seen released. But... a lot of what you find in this game, are bits and pieces from other MMO's.
The storyline is not enough to hold me. I need some decent gameplay, and SWTOR gets very old very fast. At this point, I'd actually recommend waiting for Mass Effect 3 or if you are dead-set on a new MMO, Guild Wars 2. Only the most hardcore Star Wars fans or people who like games in easy-mode will enjoy SWTOR. If you wish for a true MMO with a bit of grind and an actual challenge, this is NOT it!
This product has... Multiplayer friendly, Excessive violence, too high of a price

What's great about it: Easy to get into and enjoy.
What's not so great: Some people in the game itself are rude, but thats MMO's in general.
I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and an avid MMO player. So of course hearing of a Star Wars MMO being made got me excited, specially with the fall of Star Wars: Galaxies.
This game is amazing, the dynamic character storylines are captivating, and the in-depth detail of everything you do is greatly crafted.
Originally many people were skeptical of the design direction the game was being crafted into, the way it looks graphically. Many people wanted it to be very realistic instead of cartoon-like.
Personally I find this game great, and very worth my time and money spent.
Many people see MMORPG and instantly see World of Warcraft with the stereotypical view of MMO gamers.
I personally think if you want to start playing MMO's for a first time, or get back into MMO's this would be where to start up, or start up again.

Bioware did an good job in developing this game, it is very nicely laid out, story lines are well written. I really like the addition of all the SW lore that is found throughout the game. It adds dimension for those who may not be total SW nerds and fills in for others that have a good understanding. A refreshing change from some of the other games out there.

What's great about it: CE physical items great
What's not so great: CE in game vendor lacking, though they say it will be updated/rotated
Lots have reviewed the game so I'll review the CE since it's showing as still available. First, I feel you're paying mostly for the physical goodies in the box, not the in game items. I find the specific CE in game items kind of lacking, though they say they will rotate or update the vendor from time to time. You do get all the other in game items available from the other editions of the game plus access to the Security Key vendor, so that's a big plus.
I'm very happy with the physical items.
- The statue is the most expensive item and while I don't collect statues, this one is well made, detailed, and looks good by itself on a book shelf - or you could keep it in the package and likely sell it at some point.
- The "journal" is a book of art and story preview. It's great, I really enjoyed reading it and it's a nice little book for someone who likes graphic novels or coffee table type books.
- Music CD is fantastic if you like Star Wars music or the movie soundtrack / classical type genre.
- The map is just a fold out poster, nothing special.
The other items you can get with the Digital Deluxe edition for less money, but it is nice they are bundled here as well. Especially the Security Key since you get access to that in game vendor as well, and I feel the items are better than the CE vendor.
Overall, while I have some issues with bugs and things in the gameplay, I see the future for this game as great potential and I will be playing it for awhile.
One last thing - as a parent I would pay attention to the Teen rating. If you don't know anything about the MMO genre and have younger kids you may be better off with a single player game or at least play with them or supervise a bit. This genre is pretty unfiltered, you will see adult language and a wide array of subjects discussed in the chat channels just like any other online game. I only say this because it's Star Wars and will likely attract people outside the gaming world that have no idea what's up with an MMO.

The game itself is a great MMO that is still very very new and has lots of room to grow. There are still things that need to be fixed and mplimented to better complete the game process. I was a little dissapointed at the ingame content for the collector's edition but the physical stuff that came with it was great.

What's great about it: Gameplay and story arc keeps you coming back.
What's not so great: The graphics are not the most modern or high-res.
This new MMO has me going. It's not priced well, and there are technical glitches and bugs, but it is a lot of fun. It seems to have the best elements of the Star Trek MMO, WoW, and LotRO mixed together and modernized somewhat into something greater than it's parts.
The solo play is wonderful and challenging, and grouping is fairly quick and painless for those difficult missions. PvP missions scale all players to even things out a bit, though you don't get NEW abilities to go with your new effective level, but your stats and existing abilities scale up to keep you from being just cannon fodder.
The story is actually very interesting, and every class has unique story arcs, while each world area has common standard and heroic missions to give you a reason to party up.
