What's great about it: Traffic information included in the purchase price.
What's not so great: Unable to update the maps.
This model is loaded with many nearby businesses, making it very easy to pull up a location. It comes with free map updates, but so far I have been unable to get them to load. I have been referred to customer service, but they are not open when I am home. Frustrating.

This unit does exactly what I bought it for. It has a live traffic option that detours you to a faster route if there's traffic ahead. If it spoke the name of the street for the next turn I would have given it a perfect score.

What's great about it: The visuals are helpful in addition to the verbal instructions
What's not so great: learning how to use it.........but not too hard.
Makes trips to new areas a pleasure.........removes the panic of making a wrong turn.........don't have to translate my wife's instructions with regard to the Mapquest read out!!!! lol

What's great about it: Not much
What's not so great: Can't update, can't save addresses, no user's manual
Part of this is that I'm a beginner but: I absolutely cannot load map updates or other updates it tells me I need. I've left it spinning over 12 hours to no avail. It will not save addresses. Too much of a pain to enter the same thing time after time. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Overall I despise this thing. I'd bring it back but I doubt anything else will be any easier to use. I am moving and need this for the trip and for the new city. The few times I've played with it and actually gotten an address entered, it has gotten me there. Nobody told me I'd need a computer programming degree to use a GPS. I'm beyond frustrated with this. The so called owner's manual doesn't tell you a thing about how to use it and I can't find anything online either.

I like this very much except sometimes can not hear even at maximum volume (yes my hearing is fine). Sometimes little difficult to enter some address. I think these little flaws are out weighed by it's over all performance.

What's great about it: Ease of use. Flexibility of display
What's not so great: Avoiding toll bridges when toll roads are to be avoided. Giving names to numbered roads
Calling for a 70 to 100 mile detour to avoid a $5 toll is not good navigating. Road names OFTEN don't exist except on Nuvi; names are announced only at intersections, sometimes hard to find and impossible to see at night. Numbered roads are announced 100s of feet before intersection and hard to miss. Not being able to identify a detour until you get to the detour often prevents finding a better route. Otherwise this is a very good unit.

What's great about it: Larger widescreen isn't as cluttered & Lane Guidance

I used this on our roadtrip from Arkansas to Washington DC for a week. The lane guidance was awesome. You never realize how important it is until you are one a 4-6 lanes plus a 2 lanes on the right (one being a right turn only), and two lanes merging on the left. It showed us very clearly which lane or set of lanes we needed to be in. No more merging on the right or left side and then the next thing you know you have to move 3 or more lanes to the opposite of the freeway within a 1/2 mile. May not be as important at some times of the day, but good luck during rush hour without it!

This is our 2nd Garmin and we are very happy. Not so impressed with Live Traffic as we were sitting in a typical LA Freeway Gridlock and had no clue it was coming. Other than that, pretty good upgrade for us! I will see how updates load and then I can change to So Far So Great!

What's great about it: I especially liked the lane assist feature.
What's not so great: I little pricey.
Used it on a trip to California, Oregon, and Idaho. Perfect routing. Loved being able to look up of destinations on my computer and then upload them to the GPS.

I purchased this unit after being a loyal Tom Tom user for the last ten years. I was worried about the switch at first but am very glad theat I finally switched. Takes some getting use to bet much better than my Tom toms. I was skeptical about the accuracy of the speed limits but have found them extremely accurate, although I would not solely depend on it. I did have problems downloading the new maps but after a ten min phone call I had the problem fixed. Certain Microsoft operating systems do not allow garmin permission due to a security setting. Easy fix! I woul definetely recommend to everyone!

What's not so great: No male voices like "Daniel" from the UK.
Garmin is a great GPS with good maps and easy to use. Nice graphics. The one item missing from this model is male voices, so I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. My previous one had male voices, (I loved "Daniel" from the UK), and this one only has female voices.

The Garmin nüvi 2555LMT GPS is excellent in directions and easy to use if you have the address you are going to. The "up-date" system could use some fine tuning because it does not tell you when it has up-dated on the computer. Other then that, it is a very good buy.

My old Garmin was slow and clunky next to this one. I'm still exploring all the options available. This one definately feels faster and more intuitive than the previous. And it looks great on my dash.

I have owned Magellan products in the past and decided to try a Garmin product. I just used the Nuvi 2555 LMT from Illinois to Virginia and back. The only thing I do not like about this Garmin is that it does not display the name of the road you are on.

Great little device.
This is my third GPS and worth the upgrade from one I purchased about two years ago.
The "Lane Assist" is an unexpected help. I thought it was a gimmick, but has really come in handy.
The trade-off for the lifetime free maps are the ads that appear on the maps. This can be annoying. Not because of the ads themselves, but because of who is advertising. For example, I know where every branch and ATM for a certain bank is. Same for every location of a certain restaurant. I don't need or visit either, so it is kind of funny that I am constantly reminded of them.
Traffic: Nice but don't count on it. Sometimes it has helped me avoid big delays. Other times it has missed accidents/events that have caused backups on the interstate for hours. At the same time, they need to tweak it a little. An accident 180 miles ahead of me with a 1 minute delay probably should not show up on the screen as a yellow warning, but things like this do.
Overall this unit does exactly what you would expect. We are pleased with ours and would recommend it.

Bought it in Flint to take on a 4,000 mile trip. Worked fine first couple of days but then the video started going out. audio would still be on but no video. Naturally, at the worst possible time! Not a heat related problem & video would come right back on if you turned it off then back on. Took it to a Best Buy in Orlando Fl. and they swaped it for a new one with no problem. Used the new one for a month traveling 3,000 miles and loved it. Really great getting around cities. Traffic updates were right on too.
Replacement was brand new right out of the box but it was in Demo mode. It cannot receive a satellite signal if in demo mode. I googled the problem and found that if you drive about a half mile it will reset itself and switch to operating mode. Worked great after that.
Keep in mind this is a great supplement to maps, Not a replacement. I still use trip ticks & maps as a back up. In most cases the Garmin was the best choice.
