It just freezes food. The two top baskets are easy to use and slide around. You do have to adjust the quantity of food directly under them though. It is extremely quiet and although not frost free (no chest is) very little frost accumulates in our dry climate. Great unit.

What's not so great: Did not come with advertised items.
I usually love Whirlpool products and have purchased many. I specifically purchased this model because the ad said it included 4 baskets--2 upper and 2 lower and a temperature monitor alarm. It did not come with lower baskets, there are only 2, and there is no temperature alarm. I will be calling the company and Best Buy because I feel like I did not get what i ordered. I could have purchased a much cheaper freezer if I had not wanted those items.
