What's great about it: It has a great size, plays blu rays, mp3s, dvds, cds, streams movies.
What's not so great: Only came with one controller, a little confusing to set up and use at first.
I wanted a wii but my sister had a PS3 and talked me into this one so my family could play games with her family long distance. It does do a lot more than just play games. It also serves as our primary movie & music player - dvd, cd, mp3, blu ray, streaming from Amazon, Netflix and others - and has a good amount of storage. It does have some quirks, though. It was really confusing to set up and I finally just let my sister come over and do it for me. It freezes up and has to be restarted on occasion. I have still not completely figured out how to use all the features and I'm generally tech saavy, but this is my first gaming system since the original PS I had some 15 years ago. My 5-year-old enjoys it and we get lots of use out of it. I would recommend it.

What's great about it: Great system when it worked
What's not so great: Crapped out after one year
We purchased the PS3 slim less than a year ago and it worked great. Towards the last month, however, the games would play intermittently then not at all. Blueray laser appeared to have crapped out after one year of what I would consider very little use in terms of a game system. DVD worked for a little after the BR died but then stopped working the next day. As of now we were thinking of buying a new PS3 given the cost to repair through Sony and/or the cost of the BR laser to do the repair myself, not to mention the lack of reputable dealers that sell the BR laser,but may consider an Xbox instead. Needless to say, we are disapointed with the lifespan of the PS3 slim.

I am a die hard Sony fan yes i do have a WII but it sits and collects dust i have owned the PS1 then a PS2 and loved both systems but when the PS3 came out i got one within a week and loved it then this one came out and it got better now its 3D capable love it

What's great about it: DVD Player and NETFLIX
What's not so great: Not enough flexibility with Android
I bought this not for gaming (I have no games) but for its other features. I use the Blue-ray DVD player (which works as expected) and the wireless internet TV capability (i.e., mostly Netflix). I wish that PS3 had better support for Android so that I could play MP3s stored on my phone through the PS3 into my TV audio. Does anybody know how to do this?

I have always been an xbox fan since the first xbox came out, but after buying a PS3 for my birthday a few years ago then selling it due to the way the games looked to me I realized that I was a PS3 fan. I recently bought another PS3 and now I spend more time on it then I do my xbox 360. I have Modern Warfare 3 for both systems but for some reason the PS3 version gets played alot more. With the way the playstation is it may make me switch my gaming system and only keep my xbox for the halo series.

What's great about it: blu-ray support, free online services
What's not so great: hardware quality, download speeds, social integration
Warning: I may be a little biased because of my experience with 360. I bought the PS3 to replace my Xbox 360. I have had a 360 since 2007 and was ready to stop paying for online gaming and add blu-ray support by getting a PS3. I was expecting a superior experience, but I really missed the xbox dashboard, and even the avatars. It seems kind of silly, but the avatars on Xbox Live really help personalize the experience, and I find it more convenient than PSN for messaging friends. I was surprised how cheap the plastic on the current PS3 seems. It seems very light and cheap. The 360 controllers are more comfortable and better designed. (this might be something you get used to though). Blu-ray support is nice and you do get a lot for the price, compared to Xbox. Game selection is iffy.

What's great about it: Its a great Blu Ray player
What's not so great: The price, should be under $199.99 buy now. I payed $249.99 for the most basic system they had.
I picked up a Sony Playstation 3 Slim model with a 160gb hard drive to replace one that died. My original Playstation 3 had hardware failure, it was one of the original models from 2007. I have to say the new system is average at best, compared to my old system which offered the ability to play all the original games. Aside from its short cummings, my experience buying the system was not very pleasant. I felt like I was being harassed by the Best Buy employees to buy a service plan, then they wanted to charge me for a hard drive copy on to the new system. They kept insisting that my old hard drive would never work in this new system, which it does by the way. The employees that helped me were not very knowledgeable as they knew nothing about the ability to put any 2.5 Sata hard drive into the system. It just felt like they were trying to take advantage of me the entire time.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, great price for value, performs as expected

This is the third system I've had (had a used original model, and a slim I had to sell a while back.) I had great performance with the first two, and this one is no exception. Games look and play great, Blu-ray movies look incredible and so do DVDs, and I can watch videos stored on my computer on my TV. Only thing I've ever complained about is that the system should come with an HDMI cable standard. I brought the system specifically to go with my flat screen TV... why would I use regular input cables when HDMI is so much better? The blu-ray remote would be nice with it, but that's a minor quibble when it comes with a controller. Definitely worth the price.

What's great about it: Easy to set up/use. Great Graphics. Multifunctional.
My boyfriend got this for me for Christmas and I absolutely love it! The Graphics and performance are excellent. He got it around Black Friday (2011) and paid $250 for the system and 2 games that came with it (Little Big Planet 2 and Ratchet & Clank: all 4 one).
Plenty of memory, my brother has an account on my PS3 and we both haven't ran into any problems with running out of space on the system.
PS3 is also great for watching movies,- looking at photos, listening to music, and steaming movies/shows though Netflix (starts off a little blurry but picks up within a few minutes).
I would STRONGLY recommend buying an HDMI cable, without it you are not using the PS3's true potential, especially in graphics. Overall, its a great system that is multifunctional.

I bought my first PS3 a few months after they came out, I remember I spent around $700.00! It just now crapped out on me about two months ago so I went and picked this one up. It's faster, quieter and uses alot less power for 1/3 of the price. In a word Awesome!

I bought this after I returned a LG blueray player due to the fact that the blueray player would not stream correctly and would freeze. As I already had a PS-3 in another room I decided to bite the bullet and got another one. I have zero regrets as this one works a flawlessly as my other one.

What's great about it: Watching Blu Ray and PS3 Exclusives
What's not so great: Can use a flash stick over 16 gb
I worked for SONY for 4 years and was not gonna buy the PS3 till the better revision came out and I am very impress with this latest edition. Very quiet and doesn't give the user that sense that the system may explode if it gets to hot. I can actually say, I'm really enjoying my PS3.
