What's great about it: great graphics and games and online services
this was purchased for my grandson's 17th birthday. he really enjoys the games that he has purchased. this system is extremely liked by all the family members that have used it. i would highly recommend this to gamers of all ages.

The system itself has plenty of disk space to download games directly to the PS3 from the PlayStation Store. No need to have a stack of game cases this way.
The Move System is great! This bundle came with Sports Champions. Lots of fun right out of the box. Get the extra move control and the charging station. It will allow you to play with others right away and the charging station eliminates the USB cable mess.
Streams Netflix and plenty of additional pre-loaded applications with no issues. Blu-Ray is wonderful. I recommend getting the remote control for the blu-ray functionality. Using the game remote is cumbersome.

Ive owned many gaming systems over the years and ive come back to the ps3 because of 3 reasons:

Having owned a xbox360 and enjoying my netflix on one system was such a nice thing but once i didnt want to play games online anymore, there was no need for me to purchase the xboxlive cards... rather there was... NETFLIX. I have not turned on my xbox since getting my ps3 and for good reason... the xbox is a far more inferior product. There are exclusive games for xbox but if you are not a heavy gamer and prefer a well rounded machine with better graphics and capabilities you will prefer the ps3.
As an entertainment unit its just what you need, the fan is much more quiet than the old heavy metal units so watching those quiet scenes in a movie you wont hear that awful fan whine. I have a single gripe, at the cost of this unit there should be some kind of 3d accessories including a HDMI cable, it would only cost a few bucks more for them to pop one in the box (im using some i got from ebay for $2 each).
Using the move system i do enjoy the few games that are out there, but it seems that the move is more of a gimmick still... as the games are some what "kidish" that use the move or xbox's kinect. Its a new game controller in its infancy i suppose but the move seems to be more accurate and speedy vs the kinect which has a lot of lag between moves. You can only play so much table tennis... but those of you who enjoy golf this is IT, tiger woods in conjunction with the move makes for a really good experience in this genre. Shooting games are much more enjoyable if you fork out a few more bucks for the sharpshooter accessory.
For $350 an HDMI cable should have been included but thats just me, the price point is still a well adjusted number in the industry for what the PS3 can do vs just a bluray player or any other gaming system. I suppose they don't include it because not every one needs the same length cable. The idea to have taken away the media card readers is iffy but you can just plug in most any phone/camera and view pictures that way also.

I bought a PS3. Best investment ever. I had older game systems, and was saving up for a new one for some time. I decided on the Sony PS3. I am a big fan of Sony products and the PS3 system is a great example of why. The graphics are incredible. The system has so many capabilities I am not sure I know what they all are. You can watch blueray dvd's, get netflix, save video and pictures, and music too! I thought the controls were going to be impossible to learn. After about 5 minutes I was off and running. The move works flawlessy as well. The camera picks everything up and can be used in other games as well. I highly advise an HDMI cable. I plugged the power in, plugged the HDMI cable in, and that was it...up and running. Go get one!

I got this PS3 around Christmas time, because I wanted to replace my existing PS3 with one having a larger hard drive. I was excited to see they bundled this with the PS Move. I have played around with the move quite a bit and it is very fun to play with. I think the disc golf is my favorite. The 320gb hard drive is the biggest out there right now for the PS3 and found that is it plenty of space for all the games I play and download off of the PS marketplace. I would recommend this PS3 to anyone. I use mine everyday for watching tv shows on Netflix and Hulu and playing video games.

I bought this after my original 40gb "fat" playstation died. I am more than happy with the purchase and would recommend this to anyone. I don't really use the move capability but it seems fun. Fast and clear graphics. I did however like the original fat playstations looks better.

Utilizes the HD format very well and includes Blu-ray capability and Netflix. Only downside is it will not play any old PS/PS2 games so you may need to hold on to your old system for that.

What's not so great: Disc not working, and the system crashing
Brought 2 pd3 in the same day, first one the disc drive wasn't any good! Rush back to the store before they closed making it by 5 mins, got the second one downloaded everything started watching a movie on netflix and the whole system crashed! So down 2 games that I brought from another store because when I took the first system back we forgot our game inside of it now this ps3 won't turn on with my second game that I brought! So I'm awaiting Bestbuy to open now so I can get my money back and get it from another Store. I love bestbuy but this PS3 has p*d me off Tremendously!!

For this much money, it should wipe my...nose for me. This unit looks great, terrific graphics and all, but...it froze up during a move tutorial and then would not even boot up later. Took it back, all fifty boxes of controllers, cables, bundled accessories...over $600- worth, and bought an X BOX 360 with Kinect instead. One controller for the whole thing, and no controllers for the movement games. Incredible. Bought a Blu Ray player separately, and now have the BEST of both worlds. Do not waste your time or money on Playstation Move.

This is my second PS3. Having owned the previous fat style I have noted that it doesnt have the same presence as before. It spins up alot while in games and makes more noise however it does seem to run cooler. It still lacks N wifi which is disappointing. Overall it is a solid choice. Games look great and updates are often enough to keep features coming but not intrusive. The move is the star in this case and runs around the Xbox Kinect. The move adds a great deal to the system and does well in most occasions. The Playstation store is strides above the Xbox varient and is more intuitive. The hard drive is a much better size however it only has 2 USBs. This system only has one wand for the move and some require two for full control or one and a non included control wand.

games so far are very true following my motions. Be sure to have plenty of light on you as you play. Cable should be longer. Ok as a blue ray player. Internet leaves a lot to be desired.

Getting used to the motion controllers was a bit of a challenge in the beginning, but once you get into the game it isn't as hard as you think. You forget about the controller and just enjoy playing the game!

The graphics are good. I bought primarily because it plays not only games but blue ray movies. The graphics for the games are excellent. I bought the bundle which included the eye camera and the playstation move. Took some time to set the eye camera up unlike the ease of the X xbox Kinectic. Not impressed with the move. It is a remote just like the wii. I would say the psp 3 is step above the wii but not quite yet there with the xbox kinectic.

I really like the PS3 and the variety of games but, I still prefer my PC for hardcore FPS gaming. The graphics are pretty stunning on my plasma and higher end 7.2 channel gear but load times often border on unbearable and those great graphics the PS3 renders might be a step down from my gaming rig.
All the downloads for system updates, game updates, and so on take forever. I'll give the PS3 the benefit of the doubt as I purchased the unit a couple of weeks before Christmas and I'll chalk the slow download speeds to traffic.
Netflix is great; I used to stream from my Samsung BD player and movies were only limited to those that were in my queue whereas the PS3 lets the user choose movies in addition to those in the queue. This is the first console I've used (Wii notwithstanding) since the original PS and sure, it is by far and away a great system.
