What's great about it: Professional look
What's not so great: nothing
I have to say the setup is really easy. All the house computers connected to it without any issues. Updated itself automatically without any help from me. The size of this thing is kinda ominous, but it looks real professional. Quality made too

What's great about it: Everything and it's capablility.
What's not so great: Haven't found a reason yet.
I got this for a personal & work flow reason at home & it hasn't gave me a reason to hate it in anyway. It's fast, efficient, & handles more than enough.

What's great about it: Double side printing and scanning. Uses minimal ink.
What's not so great: Kinda big but who cares.
I bought this printer after much review. CNET raves about it. It's well built. Doesn't feel cheap at all. Holds about 1,000 sheets of regular and legal sized paper. Double sided printing is a breeze. And the best part is it is very conservative on ink. CNET compared it to the efficiency of a laser jet with an ink jet print quality and price. Very nice!! And as always, the Best Buy Guys at the Poplar store in Memphis, TN were helpful and informative. Best Best Buy in Memphis as far as I'm concerned.

What's great about it: Excellent price, it works as advertised.
What's not so great: I don't have a landline to use fax with.
With wireless setup this works great, copy paper in tray 1 and photo stock in tray 2. No need to pick a tray it's in the program, works great on it's own.

What's great about it: EASY TO USE
What's not so great: PAPER WOULDN'T FEED, NOISY
After 3 weeks of use, the paper feed in both trays wouldn't work. It kept telling me I was out of paper when I clearly wasn't. Also, unless I put the print quality on "BEST", it printed a black line horizontally across my pictures on one end. I did all 3 levels of cleaning to no avail. The print quality was average. My HP Photosmart that died before this one did much better on detail, in my opinion.

What's great about it: fast and quiet, decent ink usuage-great printing Quality
What's not so great: jams envelopes, wireless isn't all its cracked up to be.
The printer works fine except it jams envelopes, or turns them sidewise and prints them crooked. The wireless connection does not work as advertised, pain to set up, and keep working. Overall it’s a pretty good deal as long as you can connect it via a USB cable. If you want to use the wireless make sure you have network savvy and have time and patience! Ink usage is pretty good, actual printing is great!

What's great about it: Full featured, Price & Performance
What's not so great: Firmware & software should be upgraded before using
After reading through the many reviews, both at Best Buy and other on line retailers, I had some doubts about purchasing this HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium printer. After careful evaluation of other printers, I went ahead and purchased this product.
I am using MS Windows 7 / 64 Bit OS on all 3 of my PCs - 2 HP desktops & 1 HP laptop. For improved performance, the device's firmware should be upgraded via a WIRED USB or Ethernet connection, NOT wireless, to the latest firmware version CLP1CN1232AR that was released on 10/12/12 and can be found on HPs site. Also need to use the latest Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver Version 28.8 released 10/22/12 that can also be found on HP's website - not the software that is supplied with the product. Lastly be sure to install "Recommended update to resolve "The parameter is incorrect" message on the HP Printer Toolbox" version 1.0 released on 5/7/12 also found on HP's website.
For those of you that have already purchased this "e-All-in-One" and are less than impressed with the performance of the product, I suggest performing the 3 updates I previously mentioned. I think this will resolve most of your problems and you'll be pleased with the results.
PS: updates can be found at www.hp.com/support

What's great about it: Double sided print and scan, large flatbed
What's not so great: ADF scan, paper source choice
If you read the spec sheet, you will believe that you can scan at high resolution from the ADF since only one maximum resolution is listed. If you try to do so from your computer, you will find that you are limited to 300 dpi. If you scan to a memory device plugged into the unit, the front panel will allow you to select 600 dpi. Any resolution higher than that requires that you scan every page individually on the flatbed -- and you will find that high resolution scans are extremely slow. If you try to scan a large item such as an 8x10 photo at high resolution the device will announce that the resulting file is too large and refuse to produce output.
I have not been able to select which paper source to use from my computer. I can select either one from the front panel, but I can't change to the second bin to print an envelope for the letter I just produced without going to the unit and changing things on the panel.
The software provided does not allow most functions to be altered from your computer. It looks nice but is not very functional.
There are other all-in-one printers that don't have these handicaps and they cost less than HP charges. Buy one of them.

What's great about it: Feature Rich High Qualirt
What's not so great: Scanner Documentation
This is a Great Product with all the features. Quick to set up, Quiet, Quality.
Two trays and duplex printing with controls allow any printing configuration to be met.
I will say that the Scanner documentation is very poor but if you are patient, you will figure out how to use the duplex (both sides) scanning in conjunction with duplex printing and scan to computer capability.
Add wireless interface and the ability to print from any device (Tablet , phone) from anywhere (e-print) and you have a winner.
You can find it at very attractive prices

What's great about it: eprint
What's not so great: Wish dpi and photo printer was better.
Overall this is a great printer. I have owned HP printers for years. This is replacing an outdated photo printer. I wish HP would combine the features of Photo printers with what this printer has as an officejet.

What's great about it: Fully featured, Dual Trays, Scan To Email
What's not so great: Ink Cost, Priced high
I can say that I've gone thru about 4 printers in the past 4 years and that the second I hooked this 'bad boy' up, I knew that this unit would be sticking around for a while.
It can do everything you could ask it to do; ePrint, WiFi, network printing, duplex, ADF, scan to email, and the list just goes on.
HP has done a pretty great job in pushing out these features at what I can say was an affordable price; but then again, I snagged this printer on a double-sale (saved over $150 on it).
The only negative I can report at this time is that the ink for this unit seems much more expensive than the ink for any of my previous inkjets. I wonder why.
BY THE WAY; it is very confusing, but there are multiple versions of this HP 8600. This is the highest (includes 2 paper trays, and I'm not sure what else). There's the 8600A N911a/N911g & N911n. This is the N911n. The other models are $100+ cheaper, but operate with one paper tray and/or smaller display screen. Make sure you fully research before buying; you may not care to get a lower model. Personally, I was taking advantage of two promotions + reward zone coupons. I ended up spending $60 on this printer out of pocket thanks to my BestBuy Reward Zone coupons.

What's great about it: Low Supply Cost, Fast, Clean Printing
What's not so great: Nothing I can find...yet!
This unit replaced what has always been laser printer useage for me. It is as fast as the laser printer it replaced, at 1/2 the cost, with lower cost per print on the inkjet supplies of the laser unit. Prints are clean, crisp, and it does everything I could need.

What's great about it: Multi-purpose printer
What's not so great: still evaluating photo abilities.
Wireless feature works well. Have yet to test two sided printing. Concerning 2-sided printing from a word processor program, it doesn't look like its available. I still have the start-up ink in the printer. I have tried printing pictures on photo paper at its best setting. end result didn't look as good as former HP printers I have owned. Maybe once the startup ink is replace, pictures will be better. Wait and see.

What's great about it: Fast printing, easy-to-use interface with PC
What's not so great: The scanner already malfunctioned, less than 30 days
If it wasn't for the malfunctioning scanner, this product would get 5 stars. I love the two trays, the huge capacity and fast printing. Separate ink cartridges are nice because I don't have to buy a complete pack when just one color goes out.
Unfortunately I just went over yesterday to copy my passport and some other documents, and all I get are streaks across the printed page (looks like lines of "noise", no resemblance of the actual image at all). Same result with scanning.
Maybe it will be an easy fix...will update this review if I find a solution.
