What's great about it: It's stress free.
What's not so great: charging. It won't fit in a lot of docks.
I don't do extreme stuff, but I drop my phone a lot. I also spill stuff a lot. The cover has protected my phone from me. And I think it's worth it.

What's not so great: Headphone adaptor assembly
The only problem I have with this is the screw-in headphone adaptor and then the little screw you have to put back when not using the headphones. I wish you could use headphones without the adaptor. That being said it's WATERPROOF! So I'll deal with the headphone issue to be able to use it in the pool, listen to music in the shower. Once you let go and drop it into the water, it takes away that fear of getting it wet. No longer are our phones like Gremlins! FREEDOM

What's great about it: Waterproof and not bulky
This is my second case. The first one lasted over a year of hard use and abuse and still did not leak. I don't baby my phone at all, I've been swimming with it, listen to music in the shower and throw my phone across the room and the case lasts. It's not nearly as bulky as an otter box either. This one when I first bought it was weird because the screen was all distorted but after a week of bein in my pocket it all evened out and is perfect now.

Admittedly rugged and well built but very expensive. Most importantly, did not work with my phone. Case made speaker unusable, home button would not function, touch screen pressure too hard, ringer muted, and small nub controlling ringer mute far too easily hit while in my pocket. The home button issue was critical.....a best buy rep told me that this is an issue which many customers have. Some customers do not have the issue. I replaced with an otter defender and phone works fine. Admittedly the otter is not waterproof and somewhat bulkier but allows full functions on the phone. Additionally, the touch screen functions with far less pressure than which is required for the life proof case. I don't understand why the life proof functions so well for some people......for me it rendered the phone useless....although it sure was protected. 100% waste of money.....consider yourself warned.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought a black iPhone 4S lifeproof case at bestbuy because they advertise that it is waterproof, dirt proof, snow proof, and shock absorbent. Well don't believe a word it says! They want you to do a water test right when you get it without your phone in it to make sure that it works, and the first case I bought leaked! Can you imagine having your phone in the case and it leaks! So I go to take it back to best buy to get a new one and guess what? They won't take it back!!! You have to send it back to lifeproof so they can check it out, and after about a week or so they'll send back a new one. When I finally got the new one, it resisted the water, so I put my phone in the case and made sure all of the seals were sealed and the headphone and charger openings were closed. Then I went to my pool to take a video underwater just as the case advertises and about 5 seconds after I put the case in the water, THE CASE LEAKED! So now this isn't just the case that is ruined yet again, BUT THE PHONE TOO! So now both my $80 case and $600 iPhone is ruined! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!! So I call lifeproof with another iPhone that has a lifeproof case on it, and after sitting there waiting for an hour, someone finally answers. So I tell them what happened and they started questioning me and blaming me that it leaked! So finally they gave in and sent me a new case. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PHONE? They said, "oh sorry. We don't cover the phone if it gets damaged, you'll have to buy a new one!!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? In case you didn't get the point, DONT EVER BUY THE CASE BECAUSE IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU YOU'LL BE OUT AROUND $600!!!

I bought this case back in February 14, 2013 because I've heard how it's so much better than the Otterbox. Fast forward a month and a half later, and the side part of my back piece is cracked, as well as the top part where the earphone jack is. For the amount I paid, I expected it to last more than a month! This is not due to negligence or improper care; this is just bad workmanship. My last Otterbox lasted 3 years before I had to get a new one! Do yourself a favor-don't buy it. Buy anything but this case because it is NOT life proof! This does not even deserve the one star I HAD to give it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have destroyed my phones either by dropping on cement or drowning them. I finally broke down and bought this after doing a lot of reserch. Yes, initially it looks expensive - but, believe me, Ms. Destructo, it's worth every penny. I have already dropped it (call me clutsy-whatever) several times - once on cement. I was amazed! Nothing damaged! The case didn't even show a scratch! My 2 y.o. granddaughter plays with apps on my iPhone and uses the buttons and touch screen with ease.
The buttons work great - the touch screen also great and sensitive. Scrolls beautifully. I don't know what others are complaining about. I would definitely call the LifeProof folks and talk to them. I have taken mine apart a couple of times to check the O-ring and do a thorough cleaning (per instructions). I've also just rinsed it off under water especially after 2 y.o. sticky fingers have been playing with it. Shaking it dry (with iPhone inside) and wiping with a soft cloth that I use for eyeglasses. It's as good as new! The sound quality is fine - but I use headphones mostly. I have lost that little screw but then just bought another pack to have extras. I can use the speaker only feature of the iPhone perfectly and people hear me loud and clear. I use the special screw-in mic wire in the car and to plug in speakers at home - no problem. I bought a couple of those to have one in the car and one at home.
This case has saved me from 'phone destruction' heart-break! It's waterproof at 6.6 feet indefinitely (according to their website). Although I swim, I haven't tried it yet. You need the waterproof mic extender for that too and probably the armband holder.
I highly recommend this case. It's light and, so far, has proved itself

Poss: I had a lot of problems with my phones getting wet. This case solved my problems. It a bit expensive but worth every penny. Protects against water and falls. Some people report problems with echoes but haven't. I would defiantly recommend this case if problems with moisture

What's great about it: Not alot other than customer service is somewhat prompt

Here are the pros - the empty case is water proof - this I know as I did the test - whether it is still waterproof after taking it apart a couple of times - I hope I don't own it long enough to find out.
It is fairly light and fits the phone well.
Accessing the buttons is OK - not great, not terrible.

Cons: The biggest issue is the loose fitting screen protector/top cover. The tactile feel I was used to with the cases on my 3GS is gone with this case. The amount of pressure needed is ridiculous.
A 2011 professional review I read noted this same issue. It is now 2013 and they haven't solved the problem.
Applications magically turn themselves on when I am working around the farm with this case in my front pocket. Something in the semi-rigid design and the way I move / crawl under a pc of equipment, etc. Will have to find a location where I can carry this without it giving my iPhone a mind of its own. Small shards of plastic have shredded off the inside of the case near the gasket. I found them difficult to remove but didn't want to leave them and possibly compromise the integrity of the gasket so I had to carefully remove the gasket and then use a razor to cut the shards out. On an $80 case you shouldn't have to do any re-engineering. I tried to register and get the extended warranty - the company's site was malfunctioning - no way to submit the form after taking the case apart to get the serial numbers - so that was a waste of time. Case is not particularly easy to open even after cracking open the corner with a coin and I've already marred the case with the coin after opening it only twice. If the quick instructions explained that you would need the serialization to register the warranty that would have saved me the effort of opening the case a second time by which time I had already built up some static electricity and it took a few attempts to break the static charge and stop the phone from picking up dust before reinstalling it in the case. The latch that hides the charging port needs to open another 10 degrees - getting the charger in and out is more difficult than it needs to be. As a result of the limited charging port door access you will have to pull out the charger by the wire instead of the connector further shortening the life of the cable.
For those of you that rate this a 4 or higher - you must have got a far superior case than the one I got at the ATT store.
And Lifeproof replaced my first one - so this review applies to TWO cases with the exact same results and Lifeproof wanted to send me a THIRD.
I declined. Absolute waste of time and money.
Not impressed with LifeProof the company - or this case.
For an expensive case - it has way too many flaws to justify its high price.
For this much money it should be the best case in the world.
This is going to have to go back to ATT.

Had this case for a couple months now. At first all I had to do was open the battery charge cover to talk and my voice sounded funny. Then out of no where everyone could hear me no problem. Then now I have to remove the case if I'm going to make a call. Forget actually answering a phone.
