Excellent display, especially for the price

What's great about it: Bright, very clear
What's not so great: No USB hub, no included DVI-D cable
I purchased this yesterday to replace a dying display. It is attached to a Lenovo Minidock 3 allowing me to have a large display when my Thinkpad (T520) is docked.
It is very light for the size and very bright, I am really enjoying it.
Initially it did not work so well, the monitor would go to power saving whenever I switched user and then would not wake up, and it would not use the monitors native resolution, instead using the lower laptops native resolution.
However, after applying driver updates from Windows Update, those problems went away and it is fantastic, and it is nice being able to use full 1920x1080 resolution from the laptop.
The display comes with a VGA cable but does not come with a DVI-D cable. Since DVI is better, assuming your computer supports it (most modern do) I would recommend picking up a DVI-D cable as well.
It does not have an HDMI but it comes with a DVI to HDMI dongle adapter.

Monitor was OK unti I saw a flaw. When showing small pictures the brightness will decrease very much making the image go dark. Then when a bigger image showed (picture) it would get bright again. Did not like this so I returned it.

What's great about it: Slim, light weight, solid, good picture quality

I'm an IT guy and have been in the industry for 10 years. So I have handled, installed, and used a bunch of different monitors.
I have had this monitor for a few months now. It gets a lot of use between working and playing. My computer typically runs from the morning until I go to bed at night since I'm on and off throughout the day. I use it for business uses such as editing documents as word, excel, and Outlook. However, I also use it for gaming and streaming internet TV. So far it has done great with all of those things. I can honestly say it is MUCH better than my older "square" LCD Dell monitor that it replaced.
Build quality is very good. When setting it up, everything had/has a good fit and finish. The unit feels very solid, but doesn't weigh a ton.
As long as it continues to perform, then I am totally happy with this monitor.

I purchased the first Dell flatpanel on line, it got to my home and would not power up. Best buy offered to price match the monitor with a comparible model from the local store. I drove into town (40 minutes) picked up the replacement and took it home. Guess what... it didnt power up. I called Dell support thinking I was doing something wrong (as if plugging it in and pushing the power button was complicated) they were an absolute horror to deal with. In frustration, I took it back to the store and got a refund and bought a different brand. I am thrilled with the other brand, and will never buy ANYTHING else from Dell.

What's not so great: Poor quality speakers
I love my Flat-Panel 23" Dell monitor. The colors are wonderfully vivid. When I stream movies, it's like watching on my t.v. Screen is clear. Only complaint is that I had to purchase independent speakers because it's speakers were substandard and had great difficulty hearing even at full volume setting. Still love it. Minor set back for me at least. Everything else is great. Rating 4 stars only because of speakers.

What's great about it: A fairly good price and like watching big screen TV.
What's not so great: Nothing ... it's great.
It is wonderful to have such a big screen! Combining the usage of the large monitor with the laptop was an excellent idea that the salesperson at Best Buy had. I can take the laptop with me when I'm traveling and use it with the big screen monitor when I'm in my home-based business. It's so great getting to see things on a larger screen during webinars, etc.

This monitor looks nice. It is thin and big with so called good resolution. But I really don't like its touch button. It is so difficult to customize your monitor. You can only happen to increase or decrease the brightness or contrast. Another issue is it has blurry font especially when the font is small. At beginning, I thought it was common issue for such a big monitor. If I magnified the screen, those blurry font is gone. But this started to bother me. And my eyes felt very constraint even if I just stared at the screen for 5 minutes. My husband thought I was not used to it yet. But I insisted to change the monitor because I believe 20 days should be long enough for adapting any monitor. Finally, it has been proved we made a right decision. Now I am using HP monitor (2311). I liked it very much. No blurry font no matter how small it is. Easy to adjust. So far no any trouble (for one month).

Like i said ... can't beat this monitor for the price, outstanding value. I"m a true believer in Dell products, I've never had a problem with any of them and they have served me faithfully since the day I parted company with my Presario (long time ago# so this review is a little biased.
First off, unpacking, set-up etc. is about as easy as it gets, especially if you're replacing a Dell monitor, unplug the old one, plug in the new one, no need to re-wire power or computer cables. As far as the set-up disc goes, unless you're an info junkie, there really is no need for it. I just switched my screen resolution to the max and that was it, good to go #10 min#.
I have a TV tuner in my Dell Inspiron XPS 430 and picture quality #LED backlighting# is great, motion is outstanding in both full screen and smaller windows, I do a lot of surfing, work, etc. while I'm watching TV and I haven't found a program yet that makes the picture skip or anything, it flows perfectly.
The picture adjustments are slick and very easy to use, it has a number of pre-sets that you can use to adjust color, temp, bright and contrast depending on what media you're using and prefer, TV or movies or games.
It's a decent looking unit, not a lot of frame, on this monitor the outside framing is very thin, you get display and that's it ... did I mention it's extremely thin as well? I have no cons so far about this monitor and I don't think I will.
Last but not least, hats off once again to my local Best Buy ... #Coon Rapids) researched the unit online, checked the inventory online, hopped in the car and drove up there, walked in and walked out, 5 minutes tops, I love that store ...

Ok so what I did when I hooked up my monitor was change the color preset to cool, set the sharpness, contrast, and brightness to max. after this the image quality looked much better.
Mostly used for gaming
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am satisfied with the Dell 23" monitor. It's the perfect size and has a nice base and overrall appearance. The clarity of the screen images are very good and this monitor should fit the needs of most users. The only thing that I wish it had was the capability to swivel and not just tilt up and down. It's easy enough to turn the monitor on the base if needed but that feature would be nice since I had it on my previous smaller Dell monitor.

I bought this monitor today and connected it to my Gateway DX4200-UB001A. I have a ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics card. To my surprise, my old IBM CRT had a much better picture than this. The colors were crisper and the characters clearer. I had to reduce the display setting to 1600 by 1200 to get the display to use the whole screen vertically. In the 1920 by 1080 setting, I could not see the windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen and neither manual adjustments via the screen controls or software adjustments via ATI could get the problem corrected. Yes, this monitor is lite and the display area is bigger.....so what !
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
