What's great about it: im not sure yet
What's not so great: dealing with shipping,carbonators cannot be expediated in shipping.
I had it all set up, I put the carbonator in back, filled with into their bpa free bottle, then when I went to press the button-silence! I called soda stream customer service which is 24/7 which is great because i can call after 9pm and not use up my cell phone minutes!!
Anyways, I was all excited for nothing. Since I dont know where the box went, I had the company start an order-they will send me a box in 7-10 days with a new unit, i just exchange the old broken stuff with the new and send it back-I can still enjoy flat water with syrup,I just hope to get a carbonator that actuallly works though!

What's great about it: Not AS MUCH waste, but still some. Allows for your own custom mixing too.
What's not so great: The HUGE advertised cost savings is not there.
We bought this to use on our boat to prevent too many cans and bottles onboard. It's ok and does as advertised. However, it takes more CO2 to make the drinks comparable to the real thing, but the CO2 cylinder on gave us 30 liters and not the 60 advertised. The diet cola is ok, but it doesn't REALLY taste like Coke, Pepsi, or even the store brands. The Dr. Pepper is good and a couple others, but if you want to replace the name brands, you won't.
STILL, it does prevent the waste of cans and could save us some space on long trips. When you do the math, it's again, not the huge savings they say it will be. With $15 to refill the CO2, $15 for 3 syrup canisters, that amount netted us exactly 30 liters, or 15 2-liter bottles. We buy the store brand at $0.79-$0.99 per. So for us, it's TWICE as much for Sodastream. (I didn't do the math for cans)
Is it worth it? Maybe, but not for the big saving over giant soda companies. It will, however, save us some space. What is THAT worth to us? I'm not sure yet. We'll see in a year.

Less waste and my kids love to help drink the soda they helped make. Very happy with the flavors and mixing them up. WIll be trying new ways to flavor soon!

What's great about it: Easy to use and setup.
What's not so great: The initial investment price could have been less.
Bought this a month or so ago and I'm still using it. Really enjoy the diet colas so far. Have tried a couple that I don't really like, like the Diet Fountain Mist [it's ok, but smells a little of medicine or cleaner or something] and the Cherry Cola [It's a little too cherry perhaps]. All-in-all, it's still providing us some good soda!
Living in a state with 10 cent bottle returns and pretty cheap soda almost makes it not worth buying. At least there are fewer bottles and cans being used and the ingredients are healthier for you than most sodas.
My experience in using the maker is like this:
One really long [it seems long anyways] first push of the button until it finally makes a buzz noise and then two really really short pushes of the button until a buzz happens. I don't know if I really need the 2 extra ones since they're so short.

I just bought the Soda Stream today, my wife and I really like it. I am not going to say that we will never drink the brand name stuff again but I do like how easy it is and fast too. I also like how we can a glass of soda and have it be healthier as well.

What's great about it: Chance to "jazz-up" juice and drink mixes.
What's not so great: Useless drink mixes. They all taste flat.
Okay... so I've had this for about a month now. There are definitely high points and low points. The low points are pretty much all of the mixes that soda stream makes. Even the ones that most people say are great, I haven't enjoyed. On the other hand, I LOVE the taste of taking concentrated frozen juice mix and adding it to the carbonated water. I also took some drink mixes (like Crystal Light) and added to the water from the machine with some GREAT outcomes and some terrible outcomes. Overall, it's "average" to me. Would I buy it again? Maybe. If you want to enjoy something other than soda, it's a good option. The novelty wears-out quickly, though.

What's not so great: Could be made a little sturdier
You can make as much soda as you want. No more leaving half drank cans/bottles of soda that you paid for from the store. And if your careful you can re-carbonate the old soda in those cans/bottles as well. You just need enough to fill up the bottles. Great price for what you save in not wasting soda. This model is a little cheaply made, but a great starter for the money.

Much cheaper than buying soda at the store. Most of the flavors we have tried so far taste pretty close to the brands they are trying to mimic. My teenagers enjoy using it.

I really like this thing - It's simple to use and very, VERY cost effective. Keep in mind that it won't make something that tastes like a name-brand soda. To do that requires a boatload of chemicals that the Sodastream lacks. Before you get swayed by other reviews, look at the sample pack and compare the nutrition info on the back to ANY other soda. 16g of carbs for a half-liter of non-diet soda? That's right. In the end, it may taste different (IMHO, it's just as good, if not better than any store brand) but between the savings and the lack of preservatives and such, it's a heck of a good deal.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this for the family for Christamas. We opened on News Years eve and tried it out. We had several failed attempts but finally got the carbonation right. Unfortunately the flavors are not too good. We tried slightly different amounts of mix but nothing really tasted that good, even the grandchildren didn't care for them.
The worst part of the story is that we tried to return it for store credit and best buy would not take it back even though the advertise that there are no product exceptions for returns right now on their emails. After being a loyal best buy customer and reward zone member for so many years this was the biggest disappointment of all.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

At first I was not pressing the carbonation button down fully. The first 3 bottles of soda we made were flat. The next day While making a bottle of soda i held the carbonation button down for 3 long times until i heard the buzz sound. i released the bottle and added the flavour pack and to my surprise it actually worked great after that. Perfect soda. I only hope the carbonation cartridges and flavour packs will be available for quite a long time.

When this first came out I was a bit skeptical. I'm very picky about the sodas I like. I picked this one due to lack of counter space. It doesn't take up much room and since 1 bottle of the mix is about 50 servings, its much easier to carry instead of lugging round 24pk cans, 1,2 or 3 liters and such. If your still not sure about this...come on over and I fix ya one!
Even my sister is a convert....and that ain't no easy task.
I would recommend this to a friend!
