I really love this laptop. I upgrade from a very old and outdated MacBook. I really wanted another one but couldn't afford the Apple prices on a Commodore 64 budget. This was a fabulous compromise. The screen is brilliant and I love the separate 10 key on the right side.
I have some trouble with the USB 3.0 port, some USB peripherals do not work at all, some don't work properly. And at times, I find that the machine gets "hung" on something and there is a 1-2 minute delay.
Other than that, I love this machine. It does everything that I need it to, and more. This will last me longer than I actually plan to have it. I highly recommend this machine.

What's great about it: performance was good
What's not so great: no backlit keyboard
bought because good price but returned within 2 weeks. wanted number pad originally, but misalignment made typing and viewing uncomfortable so have let go of that feature requirement. performed pretty well, but also didn't have backlit keyboard like i wanted. store employee said should be fine with light from screen, but it wasn't. because i did like the peformance, i bought another toshiba online. the store didn't carry any with new configuration requirements.

What's great about it: nice array of features, good value
My husband and I went laptop shopping with a budget of less than $600. Our main priorities were having a port available for an SD camera card as well as decent hard drive and memory space. This Toshiba fit the bill and we were pleasantly surprised with other features once we brought it home.
There is an SD port hidden in the front of the laptop which is a clever location. The HD screen is beautiful and a decent size - not too big or too small. The 2 speakers are on the upper corners of the keyboard and are surprisingly powerful! There is a full number pad which I'm not used to seeing on laptops but I love.
I have been using the laptop most recently for web browsing and was pleased to discover an ECO mode that conserves screen and battery power. There are several options available when I'm done, too, like sleep, hibernate, or a full shut down.
Overall, we are enjoying our new Toshiba laptop and were pleased with the affordability.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, offer all the accents one need to write in foreign languages, good image and sound

I'm overall satisfied with my Toshiba my only complaint is that the keyboard is really hard to type, I keep missing letters as if I don't hit hard enough it won't work... it is really annoying... If I had tried it before buying, I'd probably haven't gotten it. Another thing, touch pad is way too sensitive.
On the other hand, I like the numeric 10 key, plus I'm able to type in Portuguese and Spanish without having big trouble to use the accents in the words as this keyboard offer them all.
Also, I decided to disable the face recognition as it doesn't really work...

What's not so great: no 3rd button for a wheel I just like that on the Acer
Got this to replace an older Acer Laptop and everything works great, fast, hooks to all 3 internet places I go without a hitch, The keyboard is placed just right not to touch the mousepad, the sound can get pretty loud with the Harmon/Kardon speakers, fits in my backpack really easily. Great computer I'd buy it online though Best Buy in-store customer service sucks they always have, it's unfortunate they had the best price for that reason alone.

Have had this laptop for about a month and it seems to be a good product, especially for the price. I am a pretty basic user as far as the internet and only do some spreadsheets and itunes, etc. Performs very well and the display is good.

I wanted this laptop Weeks ago found out it over heats like crazy and makes laptop go very slow. There are only two fixes for this type of problem you can vacuum the dust from the laptop which I hear is a horrible method or you can take the laptop apart expose the mother board and clean the dust from the fans. Toshiba has done a suck job at building good ventilation in theire laptops. Disappointed. Research before you buy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I can truly say that this laptop is a great buy!!! The keyboard feels awesome, nice and sturdy...doesn't feel cheap at all. I really enjoy the the eco life, when I need the power i have it at a push of a button. I was able to play games like with no issues such as: Sniper, Arma and Fallout. I HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone. Also, the speakers on this thing is better than any other laptop out there.

I purchased this laptop thinking I was getting a great buy. I have to say that when it actually works it is a wonderful laptop but often the keyboard will malfunction. During the malfunction the keyboard will only display hotkey commands when you press the keys. This is actually my second Toshiba Satellite. I traded my first in for the same reason. When you attempt to research the problem on the internet there is no solution. I do not recommend this product.
