What's great about it: No more remotes
What's not so great: You'll still use remotes
The physical remote it's self works great, especially if you use compatible network attached devices. You can even use one physical device to control multiple rooms. It wasn't hard to setup, worst part was finding the model numbers of my devices. Now for the down side.... The app you use on your phone or tablet as it stands is well OK. It is fully featured, but the tablet version is just the phone version with larger buttons which is a waste, and the phone version just isn't as easy to use as a good old remote. I hate to say it but ya, a good old remote is still sometimes better. With that said, I still like it, use it, I just am also wishing for a better app.

What's great about it: Easy to set up and easy to use
What's not so great: occasionally loses contact with iphone.
I bought this to operate my home theatre and it works great. It is easy to set up your activities (watch TV, watch DVD, etc,) and easy to link to all the individual components. Most all were available by simply choosing from a list, even the projection screen. By pressing one button, it turns on the projector, lowrs the screen, turns on the AV equipment and adjusts all the settings to perform the chosen "activity". I can also choose to operate each component separately, if desired, as all the buttons are there and can be customized as well.
It does occasionally lose contact, but can usually be reconnected by simply closing the iphone and reopening the app. Also, since the iphone screen is lit, I can see what I'm doing in the darkened room. I can also buy an IR light switch and have the room lights controlled.
It is a great addition to the viewing experience.

What's great about it: Neater than four or five remotes, and cool to use with the iPad.
What's not so great: Confusion about set up procedures.
I bought this to make life easier for my wife. She is frustrated trying to figure out which remote to use for which function...one for volume, another to switch channels, and a whole other set of procedures to stream the internet online, or watch a DVD.
Unfortunately she is still a bit frustrated with the Harmony Link remote. I was also frustrated when it took several days to set it up. Now it runs with occasional glitches; so the jury is still out on the decision about the value of this device in our home.
Before I list the problems I had with the Harmony Link, let me say something good about it:
My wife loves her iPad, so using the HLink to replace the four remotes was a no-brainer. I bought it for her birthday. When the set up gets done correctly, and when the system works properly - it is worthwhile.
Here is an example:
1. We watch a program from internet streaming. The show comes from a laptop through the #4 HDMI input into the TV. The sound is sent through the TV where the volume is controlled.
2. We switch to watching TV from the dish. One touch on the iPad/Harmony Link system turns off the computer, turns on the Dish DVR, turns on the receiver and switches it to Sat/Cable input, and switches the TV from HDMI #4 (computer cable) to HDMI #1 (DVR cable) on the TV remote.
3. Later we want to see a DVD. One touch turns off the DVR, turns on the BluRay disc player, and switches the receiver to BluRay input.
4. Volume adjustment for each new activity is accomplished through the iPad screen.
Switching from internet streaming to Dish TV to DVD in the past would require the use of several different remotes. I would have to think and determine which remote to use, then find it, and use it. Many times I would pick up the wrong remote, try it, fail , and find the correct one. This sequence (switching from the first, to second, to third activity) would require eight separate functions on four different remotes.
The Harmony Link does all this on the iPad.
Here were my problems in setting up the Harmony Link. The set up requires some reading of instructions, but once I started it became fairly intuitive. The major issue for me was getting the system to work with my Dish TV DVR. The problem is that the remote settings in the DVR setup must be set for "remote address 1". It took two days and four phone calls to Logitech (Harmony Link) and to Dish TV in order to figure this out and get it fixed.
Now the Harmony Link/iPad combination is working most of the time. This afternoon I had intermittent problems getting the DVR to respond, but it seems to be working now.
I am glad I bought it, and I anticipate improvements that will make my problems go away.
Another great benefit is the availability of the Dish program schedule on the iPad. When my wife is bored by the incessantly repeated news I am watching, or I am bored with the repeat episode NCIS she is watching, ... we have set up our favorite channels to display concurrent programming along the bottom of the iPad screen. So my wife notices a movie on Hallmark channel, or I see something preferable on the History Channel - and we can switch from the iPad screen. The alternative programming is more visible, we do not have to pick up the remote and go looking on the big channel guide.
If you know what you are doing, but your partner is frustrated with the r jumbled remote jungle - then this will simplify both your lives. But there is a learning curve for both of you.
If you and your partner are already at your wit's end, then the complexity of setup and operation will leave you even more frustrated. Wait another year or two for further improvements.

What's great about it: Easy to use and a good price
What's not so great: Setup is cumbersome, and didn't work right
The Link identified all my components, said they were set up, and seemed to get it right the first time. However, it turned out it wouldn't control the DirecTV box -- wouldn't toggle the power, and would only change stations sporadically. Wouldn't work even after "learning" from OEM remote. Tried various placements, but it just wouldn't control the box. Tried Logitech's help, to no avail.
Software also needs some attention. Volume control would only adjust TV volume in 7-8 step jumps up-or-down, not good on your ears. Some of the controls work fine but are not intuitive, you have to "push button" to figure out what they really do.
All-in-all, a great idea, but more work needs to be done on the firmware and software before it can replace the older Harmony remotes (I'll continue to use my 770 -- it just works).
Fiddled with the Link for about 5 hours, re-boxed it, and returned it.

What's great about it: It uses my iPad or iPhone to control my home theater devices
What's not so great: Just a tad bit confusing when entering devices using the online website.
Great value if you already have an iPad or iPhone in which to control all of your home theater devices! I even added my ceiling fan and Lutron light switches so I can pretty much stay on the couch to enjoy a movie!

I bought this with such enthusiasm and really looking forward with the ability to use my Android phone. Male sales associate assured me that: it would work with my Android device and iPad. Works great for apple and it works for older Android devices however, my Android runs on ICE CREAM SANDWICH and after reading more into it and researching I found it is incompatible. There is no app for phones with Android ICS, only for earlier versions of Android. I REPEAT THIS DEVICE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANDROID ICS beware. Disappointed.

What's not so great: Dosn't work with the original ipad, requires one and only one WAP.
Not sure what Logitech was thinking. Not only will it not work with the original iPad, but it only works on a B or G network, and won't work if your Iphone is connected to a different Wireless Access point. Have no idea why, but your controller and the Linc must be connected to the same access point.
Also, Support is horrid. Spent an hour on the phone trying to explain the difference between the OS version of the ipad and the hardware version of the ipad. Supposedly, they sent my request to "Level 2" support, but over a week later, never heard back. Called, escalated, etc., Nothing.
I would not recomend this product. Poor design, bad support.

What's great about it: The Idea
What's not so great: Owner's Manual and customer service
This is my second Harmony link device and although it does work, it’s far from perfect. The idea behind the Harmony Link it a great one… allowing your SmartPhone or tablet (Apple devices work great) to control the TV through a slick menuing function. Unfortunately, Harmony’s attempt at simplicity produced a product that is needlessly difficult to work with.
First, most Harmony devices (Link, Harmony One, etc.) are managed through a web interface. The user’s email address is tied to the device. This is a great idea if you have only one Harmony product but becomes cumbersome and confusing with more than one. The user is forced to give fake email addresses to each Harmony product to properly manage it. If anyone from Harmony is reading this, come on!!! Make a sub-menu under the email with all your products. You should encourage customers to own more than one of your products.
The instruction manual is an absolute joke. It contains very little information and unless your setup goes perfect, you need to call customer support which is another joke. As part of the setup procedure, the Harmony Link is plugged into the user’s PC. At one point in the process, the Harmony Link goes out to find wireless networks and allows the user to provide the appropriate login/password information. As I later discovered, the Harmony Link does not discover all the available wireless (802.11) networks but only the ones on the same subnet as the PC. In my case, I’m routing between 802.11 and the Ethernet networks so the Harmony Link never discovered any of the wireless networks. No mention of this is called out in the manual and their customer service is absolutely clueless as to the actual procedure. After a great deal of testing, I finally figured out what is going on and after placing both devices onto the same network, the setup procedure completed without incident.
If Harmony would have provided this additional information, it would have made for a far easier installation… an a couple more stars.

Great product. If you have a smart phone or a tablet you never lose the remote! And you can place this inside a media closet and it will control without line or sight! I can run the second channel to a pair of outdoor speakers and still control volume for my av receiver. And if I went upstairs to sleep but forgot to turn off the tv downstairs then I can use the phone. Great product. Thanks logitech. Ps the iPad software is lame. But the iPhone is great.

The Harmony Link was easy to install and works fine. Maybe in a future update this will be resolved.

What's great about it: Ease of setup, price, logitech's reputation
What's not so great: Takes a little getting used to
Bought the link to replace my old RF receiver and harmony remote with a dead screen. Very easy to setup and program. Love the iPad app. Very robust and easy to navigate. iPhone app is great also, but a few less features. Definitely different than holding a remote, but once you get used to it pure enjoyment. We have the app on 1 iPad and 2 iPhones so there is always a "remote" nearby. Definitely worth the $100 as opposed to buying a new remote for $300+. Phenomenal technology once you get comfortable navigating the apps.

I don't know if they have updated the software or the people with the bad reviews jut couldnt figure it out but I got this and the ps 3 repeater and now I have 2 iPads and both our iPhones working ... No more looking for the remote and switching back and forth between controllers and remotes. I would like more customizable features like some times when I switch activities I don't want to turn the ps3 off but that's a minor complaint and so far it's awsome.

What's not so great: After a support call, nothing worked
I installed the product and it was "Almost Working," well, just some minor issues. Called their support line and after an hour on the phone nothing was working. I was told a "Level 2" tech would call me back. After no call back, I called and was told I should have received an email. That support person sent me the email that said I would receive a call back within the next 168 hours (that is one week) and if I did not receive a call then I should call them.
So....it only took me 0.5 hours to return the product to the store. Once the problems are worked out I am guessing it will be a great product but I do not know how they will fix their support center.

What's great about it: When it's working, it's fine
What's not so great: Relies on the manufacturer's website to work. When the site is down, so is the remote.
I setup the software and registered the unit as requested. It was very easy and seemed to be the placebo needed to remove all my remotes. I was mistaken.
The following day, their website was unavailable rendering the unit unusable. It was down for a good 24 hours. Since you rely on their website to be up for this system to work, I found this to be a major flaw for such a great idea. If it's not reliable, it's not going to replace the remotes. Also, with an iPhone, the software needed to be constantly refreshed when the phone goes into sleep mode. If you needed to mute or change the program, the iPhone would need to come up and the app would need to refresh itself. This took much too long to get to a point where you have control again. It's a great idea, but it's not ready for prime time.....

What's great about it: Easy to setup, small footprint, runs on WiFi, and the iPad app is nice
What's not so great: The iPad app doesn't always update the show listings, sometimes I need to close and reopen the app to get it to update.
I use my Link to control the cable box for my bedroom TV and it works perfectly. The cable box is located in my closet on the other side of the wall from the TV so that there are not visible wires. Instead of running an IR extender I chose to go with the Link and I am glad I did. The iPad app is great and I prefer to use that to look for shows over the cable box guide.
The only problem I have is with the iPad app, I have an iPad that I just use as the control for this TV and if I leave it running for an extended period of time (more than a couple of hours) it doesn't update the listings to the current time the next time I access it. I end up having to close the app and reopen it then everything updates as it should.

I was excited to get this and disappointed when I did. There are no macros available like there are in other harmony remotes. Without macros this device is less user friendly than a generic all in one cheap remote No option to hide the "guide" which by the way is not accurate for my area. No option to customize the layout of elements in the app.
Overall, a waste of money
