What's great about it: Flawless pen & button controls
What's not so great: Inability to use touch controls
This is my second Bamboo tablet; I have used an older model at work for years - it has pen, 4 programmable buttons, and a zoom/scroll pad. I wanted one for my home computer. The Capture has a nicer surface, and you don't run your pen off the edge like on the older model. Everything works flawlessly except the touch controls; I contacted Wacom support & they advised to install the most recent driver from their website, however touch still doesn't work (I'm using Windows XP SP3). I have disabled the touch controls & love using the pen & buttons. Maybe when I upgrade to Windows 7 or 8 I'll be able to use touch control.

What's great about it: Easy to use, comes with software, size of most tablets.
What's not so great: Nibs "can" wear fast. Touchpad can be marked by the nibs.
I have always been keen on drawing but I just recently got into rotoscoping. I tried using my laptop's touchpad to draw which was alright but it got tedious after a while. It was hard to get the fine lines I wanted. I turned to one of my friends, who does a lot of her artwork on the computer, and asked her how she does it. She told me how she uses a bamboo tablet and she began to suggest some of the options and told me about the capture.
I read up on it, and ended up getting a little brash. I bought my capture and I have to say at first 100 dollars seemed like a lot for what it was, but I was mistaken. The software, albeit old, is well worth price. I specifically enjoy the Adobe photoshop elements program. I've been doing a great deal of my work through photoshop. I haven't used the Autodesk Sketchbook program as much, but I have given it a try. It was fairly straightforward, and was pretty much an advanced microsoft paint program.
I have to warn you, like most electronics, all these programs can become overwhelming. Reviews on other sites have mentioned how there's no real instruction manual. All the stuff is on the c.d. You have to put the disc in and begins the installation process. Just take your time, like with any product. The actual tablet gives you a walkthrough of how to use different features on the actual tablet, such as, different methods of touch that will allow you to zoom or move the picture. I'm not entirely sure about the autodesk sketchbook, but photoshop has multiple online tutorials, from videos to text. They've been helpful and are easily accessible.
I've thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the bamboo tablet so far and here are just a few details for the curious. The tablet has a somewhat rough touch area that allows for a more realistic feel with the pen. The whole tablet is not a touchpad, there is a limited area marked by lines on the tablet. The stylus does not have an eraser. You may think that you need the extra space the Bamboo Create offers, but the Capture is perfect. I thought about buying the Create but now it doesn't seem that it would've been worth it. There is a learning curve when it comes to how high you hold the pen above the pad for moving the cursor, but you get used to it fairly quick. The cable is the right size for me because I use my tablet with a laptop but you can buy usb to mini-usb cables that are longer. You can also buy a wireless adaptor but I don't see why that's necessary. Many people complain about the nibs(plastic tips on the stylus) wearing out, I haven't really experienced this and I've done a fair amount of drawing. Another note is to keep the little bag that comes with extra nibs and an extractor. Some people don't realize what the metal ring is and throw it out, so be careful. The ring allows to remove worn nibs.
Overall I love the Bamboo Capture and I think it's well worth the price for people doing artwork for fun. I'm not sure how a professional would feel about the product but for someone who's into art, it does just fine.

Got the Capture for Christmas and I was blown away by it. I was expecting a little choppiness when I used it to draw but it's incredibly smooth. It really feels like just picking up a pen and drawing. I also love that the pen doesn't need batteries-it's nice and light so it feels more natural. The software included is all pretty good stuff don't really have any complaints.

What's great about it: Great functionality and loaded with nice features
What's not so great: Short USB cord
I purchased the Bamboo Capture a few weeks ago and I love it!
I’m on the computer virtually all day doing a lot of design work for a sign company. I have a lot of trouble with my wrists from using a mouse. I’m right-handed, but I use a mouse with my left hand because a day running a mouse with my right hand will cause my wrist to ache. Over a year ago I switched to a trackball type mouse. Recently the finger I used to operate the track ball was starting to ache. I was searching for a new alternative when I remembered a former coworker using a Wacom tablet for design work. I decided to give this alternative a try with the Wacom Bamboo Capture.
I was concerned there would be a learning curve for using the Capture. Despite having never used a tablet before, it didn’t take me long to get the hang of it. There are 2 ways to use the Capture, with the supplied pen and with your fingers.
Using the pen to operate the Capture takes the most practice, but I had it down within an hour of using it. The pointer is moved around the monitor by “floating” the pen over the Capture. One of the things to learn is how high above the tablet to hold the pen. The range is about ½”. Touching the pen to the Capture is the same as clicking a mouse button. There is a button on the pen that functions like the right-click on a mouse. When using the pen, the interface area of the Capture corresponds directly to the monitor. When you click in the center of the Capture, the pointer jumps directly to the center of the monitor. Clicking in the upper right corner of the Capture jumps the pointer to the upper right corner of the monitor. I think getting used to this took me the most time.
Finger operation of the Capture is just like the touchpad on a laptop computer. Unlike using the pen, no matter where you touch the Capture, the pointer moves from its current location. It also supports multi-touch options such as 2-finger scrolling and pinch-zoom. There are buttons on the Capture that function like the buttons on a mouse or laptop touchpad.
It amazes me how you can lay your hand all over the Capture while using the pen without any glitches and yet also operate the Capture by finger touch. It’s a technological marvel to me.
The only downside I’ve discovered is using the Capture with 2 monitors. The Capture functions just fine with 2 monitors, but I had reservations about how well it might work. As I mentioned above, when using the pen the interface area of the Capture corresponds directly to a specific location on the monitor, so when you have 2 monitors the same area now covers 2 monitors. I was concerned about how accurately the Capture would operate covering 2 monitors in the same interface area. However, I will reiterate I did use it with 2 monitors for a short time and didn’t experience any trouble. I opted to go to using 1 monitor since I don’t really need 2 monitors with my current setup.
The other negative I have is the length of the USB cord. It won’t reach much beyond 24” to 30” from the CPU. So if you need it to reach further, be prepared to invest in a hub or extension of some kind.
As mentioned by the previous reviewer, there is a wireless kit available from Wacom. I opted to purchase this as well. With the wireless kit I can move the Capture to where I need it and the cord length isn’t an issue except when charging.
I did have an issue with the Capture and keyboard fitting on my keyboard tray. I used it as an excuse to buy a smaller Bluetooth keyboard that will also work with my Xoom tablet computer. Either way it’s something to keep in mind if you plan to place the Capture on a keyboard tray with a regular keyboard.
Another feature that is fun to play with is the ability to use the Capture to input handwritten text into text fields. When you select a text input field you have the option to write your message on the Capture and the software converts it to text. It takes some practice but works surprisingly well. A keyboard is still more efficient, though.
Overall this is a great device and far exceeded my expectations. I think it has added a new dimension to my computer usage and I’m hopeful it will eliminate my repetitive stress problems that occur using a regular mouse.

What's great about it: Wireless option, removable USB cable, rubberized pen, thinner
What's not so great: A little sensitive multi touch
I decided to upgrade my old Bamboo pen tablet now that these new ones came out.
I initially purchased the Connect version, which I liked a lot, but it was missing the multi touch feature, so I exchanged it for this one. So far I like it a lot. I use it for graphic design and this is really helpful allowing more freedom when designing. I just have noticed that multi touch could sometimes be a little too sensitive therefore activating unwanted gestures, but I guess is just a matter of practice.
Another great new feature is the available removable USB cable and wireless adapter with rechargeable battery. Very nice options, wireless adapter is a $39 addition sold separately.
Between the Capture and Connect, I actually liked better the look of the black/green Connect, but that is just a matter of personal preference.
Overall a great addition for artists.
