What's great about it: The promised capabilities
What's not so great: The failure to actually work
I hade issues with the product from the start mostly due to a bad cable card from Cox Cable. After Cox squared me away I finally was able to pick up some channels through Windows Media Center (Other DVR Software for PC would not work with out advanced knowledge of the software or code). The device itself would be great but I was never able to get the tuner to stay on properly. Cox Cable really went out of their way to help but nothing worked. I was only able to receive HD channels, not all, and no subscription channels. The tuner also needs to be unplugged then plugged back in if the PC goes to sleep. This problem is a deal breaker. How can you set a schedule to record if the tuner goes to sleep and does not wake up to record. I called Hauppauge tech support. They told me it was a bug with no fix for now. I got fed up with Hauppauge tech support. Every time I called they were rude, short answers, offered no help, and argued with what I was seeing. This product was totally not worth the hastle.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
