What's great about it: You don't have to be a muscian to make great music
What's not so great: Any powerful software can be frustrating to learn
I have been using Magix programs for years, so I want to throw my hat in the ring with Music Maker MX. I can't add anything really to all the reviews already here, so here are some tidbits:
Free Goya burnR - great CD/DVD burner program that is included but independant of Music Maker MX
Ability to import movies and put sound tracks to them without ever touching a musical instrument. This is because of the free sound pools and synths/drum machines
Want to record your own guitar and voice? No problem. Music Maker is an excellent recording studio program. Sound Studio has more of a professional sound board interface, but Music Maker does it all with a simpler, linear interface.
Make sure you change from the default "Easy Display" mode to the "Expert Display" mode. Not doing this is probably why some other reviews can't find anything.
Great program to learn the art of sound engineering. It includes a mastering suite and all of the standard effects that can be applied to individual tracks. Want reverb on your voice, put it on that track. Want an nice "room" ambience on the entire mix? Use the mastering suite for that.
Your PC must be as powerful as you can afford. Get 3 Gigs of RAM, absolutely. Get a graphics adapter to take the video load off the CPUIf you will be using only sound pools and midi then an audio card isn’t necessary. However, if you will be recording live, analog audio #voice or guitar# into your computer, get a quality sound card, or get a USB interface. The sound card integrated into a motherboard is notoriously noisy. This is true for any audio/video processing software; not a problem with Magix products.
Music Maker MX will import certain audio and video formats, so for those camcorder projects where you want to add special effects, voice overs, or create a symphony orchestra sound track, this is the program to get!

What's great about it: Powerful editing tools.
What's not so great: NO option to change the color scheme of the GUI.
Magix has done it again! The easy installation allows for quick setup. The graphic interface is intuitive, simple to grasp, and familiar. Most impressive is the layout--everything is where you would expect to find it. The powerful creation and editing features are state-of-the-art. Whether composing intricate arrangements or making a live recording, Magix Music Maker MX is ready to take your projects from A to Z quickly and in high quality.

What's great about it: That multitude of features and the ease in which they can be used
What's not so great: library access needs to be fine tuned
Muisc Maker MX is a fully functional creation station. If you are a dj, Producer, band member, recording artist, or someone looking to get started in this field, this is the place to start. Music Maker offers a wide range of many great aspects of the digital age of music.
The greatest thing about Magix Music Maker (MMM) is that it’s very intuitive and is easy to use. From the moment you try to install it to the first time you start the program you are given clear markers on what your options are for install.
When using the program I find it to be very fast, the load on the computer could be a little bit lighter but overall it functions great. The program is not glitchy by any means. The program has many synthesizers to choose from if you like to create your own music. The sounds of the synthesizers are extremely realistic and great for the price of the program. If you choose to sequence with loops, Magix provides you with a plethora of sounds from different music genres that will help you get started. All sound loops are royalty free which is a great plus.
Magix has many options for redefining your sound with their many effects that can be applied to all sounds. Learning the short cuts and really applying yourself for only two weeks can really make the difference. The learning curve for this program is very small but once you learn the program completely you will find yourself able to create music you never thought was possible with a program for the price. Undeniably the best program in its price range!
Lastly, the program can easily upload to your favorite social media sites. Having your music heard is now easier than ever before. Truly a program that will take you from idea to completion in the shortest amount of time and the greatest ease.

What's great about it: Easy to learn
MusicMaker MX is the latest release-update of Magix’s consumer line of multimedia software that leverages everything from cloud services for acquiring additional content, to social networking, file export, publishing and now with the MX moniker – ‘media exchange’ compatibility with their other software.
What has attracted me to Magix’s line of multi-media software over the years is the intuitive nature of the software that allows you to get started immediately, then being able to drill-down to powerful menu-driven audio tools.
Additionally there are various synthesizer plug-ins for creating your own sounds. Audio CDs and MP3s can be integrated, remixed, or used as sound material. Even DirectX or VST plug-ins as well as MIDI files for remote control of the sound card or external synthesizers can be easily integrated into the arrangement. All multimedia formats can be combined with one another in any way on all tracks. The features and options are too numerous to list here so visit www.magix.com for all product features and specifications.
I had no problems installing the boxed version of the software on my normally buggy Windows Vista laptop. When you open the software for the first, there is an introductory video to orientate you to the interface and basic functionality. The graphical user interface (GUI) is clean and modern looking without a lot of clutter that could be intimidating upon opening a multimedia program for the first time.
But underneath the hood of this music creation program are powerful and professional quality tools that are easily accessible and applied.
I am a digital filmmaker not a musician; but music is a major component in my films, so I use Magix’s MusicMaker to arrange music tracks provided by musician collaborators, adjust volume, EQ and adjust the stereo depth of the arrangement. Then I mix-down the music by exporting as a single .WAV file for use in my digital film project. If one prefers, a video file can be added to the arrangement so you can build a musical soundtrack that matches the video action.
If you are creating music from scratch, that functionality is the heart of the software.
Besides basic instruments, MAGIX Music Maker MX contains many internal synthesizers for creating your own drum patterns, break beats, bass lines, or ambient noise. The synthesizers are represented either by internal synth objects that can be arranged together with other objects on the tracks.
MAGIX Music Maker MX includes a real-time mixer with a master effects section that professionally mixes all the tracks within an arrangement. The Mixer can be opened by pressing "M" on the keyboard or via menu navigation. Click on FX button in the Mixer and bring up a classic mastering rack (for a track or the entire arrangement) with a 10-band Equalizer, Reverb, distortion a compressor and time processor.
Magix updates their products yearly incorporating the latest technology into the engine of the software and social networking trends into the program’s usefulness. As a registered user, you will receive a substantial discount for new versions of the software if you feel it’s useful to upgrade.
I recommend this program to anyone who rather spend time making music, then figuring-out how to use the program. Be assured, your results will sound professional!

What's great about it: Easy import/export formats, Easy Main screen, Great Effects racks
What's not so great: Recording directly and using as master recording
I am excited about this program. I have been using Magix Music Maker for many years to mix and program drum tracks. Now with this MX program it is simpler and easier than ever. I like the simple main screen. I don't have to close features I am not using before even getting started. I can load in my drum tracks, drag n drop em' and arrange them seamlessly. I also love the effects racks included in this program as I can effect my drums and other instruments anyway I want. This helps to experiment with some sounds and effects on the go off my laptop before I load the tracks into the studio. Extremely helpful for getting creative ideas on the run. For ametuers musicians this program is great for the price. If your a DJ you can get really creative with this program as well. I recommend it for anyone and everyone! Thanks for another great program Magix!

What's great about it: This is one of my favorite music making products
What's not so great: Can't find anything
Magix MX is a really good music making program. I've been a fan of the products since version 5. I'm always surprised with the things you can do with their programs and MX is no different. I love the fact that from program version to version, most if not all of the components are in the same place, this takes away a lot of the need for a learning curve. I also love the fact that you can integrate audio and video from other programs into the same program. There is a lot of help both embedded in the program as well as an on line community for those who have questions. But if you are a weekend or a professional musician or even recording engineer Magix opens a world of possibilities. And speaking of recording engineering, all of the Magix programs have come with a wide range of on board recording suites from sound enhancment to filtering and other great editing tools. One real plus with this version is the ability to upload your work to social networks like Facebook, Youtube and others.

What's great about it: Great Value, Easy To Use, Seamless Integration, VST Support and a whole lot more.
Magix Music Maker MX has definitely made a lot of progress through the years, especially with this release. The download version took mere minutes to download and the installation process, while simple, took a bit longer but was well worth the wait. Content is included in the package so you can start immediately.
Eager to explore the features and look at the user interface I couldn't wait to dive into the program. Once there I found the set of tools and features very user friendly allowing you to work efficiently. Creating new tracks from scratch is very simple as is the editing and production of your tracks. It is seamless integration at it's best.
Regardless of your preferred music genre you'll find what you need in one place. Create a jazzy sound on the fly, or maybe you'd prefer something in the vein of hip-hop, electronic, alternative, classical, etc. The only limit is your own imagination.
You can also create and render videos for your music. Let's not forget you can also record and burn. I love the integrated VST support and the instruments. Adding a particular effect to a loop or several in your work is not a problem with this program. The text to speech function is both fun and interesting. I could go on and on about so many of the wonderful features of Magix Music Maker MX. If you are looking for something without a steep learning curve where you can create, edit and produce in one place then give this program a try.
My Overall Rating: 5/5
Audio Editing: 5/5
Recording/Burning: 5/5
Ease of Use: 5/5

What's great about it: Feature rich, complete home recording studio
What's not so great: As of yet... nothing
Seriously, I thought there was a number missing from the price, this could easily sell for more!
I am an avid musician, and I have been using the Music Studio/Samplitude series from Magix for years. I am so glad this is back at Best Buy. If you are into music or play your own instrument, and you own a PC you really need this product. This is what the professionals use, but of course it is built for consumers so there are some things removed to make it not only more user friendly and knowledge oriented to the novice but also the cut down on the cost of the product. Still, this is the Consumer Digital Audio Workstation.
Music Studio has been a mainstay program for me since 1998 (Music Studio v2000) which I still own! It has a simple to understand interface and allows you to do multi-track recording (if you know what that means, you would already be impressed) I also have full use of VST, and VSTi, ASIO drivers so there is a very low latency for my recordings, but there is more. A full complement MIDI studio… that is a lot for a program already but this package also includes Music Maker.
Now, Music Maker is a loop arrangement program, so it’s not for multi-tracking but it’s great for laying out a beat, or taking your original recording and making a remix of it. It is fun and powerful because it includes so many samples and instruments that you can really embellish your recordings or songs you just think need a personal touch. I think it is a must for DJ’s, beginning musicians, or those who have a creative ear for loop arrangement. It allows you to record as well, so you can make something so complete.
Adding these two titles together is heaven sent. I am shocked that I didn’t get information on this product sooner. Obviously Best Buy knows a good thing when they see it. No doubt this is one the most compelling titles I have ever used.

What's great about it: Amazing value for creating a full 64 track home studio!
What's not so great: A few bugs that will hopefully be ironed out by Magix.
I was really quite surprised to see this on BestBuy's site as there is NO MENTION of this on the Magix site yet! I decided to take the risk and picked it up at a local BestBuy. The value is stunning! You get what is basically Samplitude Producer 11.5 (a $200 product) with a few extra limitations and missing a few Vita solo instruments! Century Keys, Saxaphonia and Electric Bass are not included.
Here are some details you will have trouble finding at this point. Most of these are in reference to Samplitude Music Studio MX which is the full fledged studio as opposed to Music Maker MX which is the beat-slicing, looping program for creating remixes, etc.
- 64 tracks
- 16 VSTi instruments at a time (twice that of previous versions)
- VST Automation (surprising to see this at this price point)
- MIDI CC thinning in MIDI editor
- MR64 multitrack recorder
- Freeze tracks in 24 bit!!! (this makes the VSTi limit much less of a concern)
- Revolta 2 (powerful analog synth)
- Beat Box 2+, Robota, Lead Synth, Atmos, etc.
- Vita 2 ( convincing acoustic guitar, piano, bass, brass, strings, woodwinds, etc)
- Essential FX collection (low CPU usage, no frills FX)
- Vintage FX Suite (same great stomp boxes MS has had for years)
- Vandal SE Guitar Amp modeling (yet more effects!)
- FFT object filtering for detailed spectrum manipulation
- Elastic Audio (easy version)
- 24 bit 48kHz max (did you expect 192kHz for this kind of money?)
There's a lot more I could detail but this at least fill's out some of the missing information to help you decide if it's for you.
THERE ARE SOME BUGS at this point as expected with any new Magix product. Most have to do with the new docking GUI but other than that it seems stable at this point. Also... it does not seem to take advantage of multi-core CPU's. Hopefully Magix will be quick to patch some of the GUI issues but I have not found any showstopper bugs yet. I would have given this package 5 stars just for the value if I hadn't run into some annoying bugs so quickly.
The included Soundpool 17 is another add to an already amazing value. Not being into loop remixing it's not as useful to me, but even so there are some great sonic elements in there that could be incorporated into Music Studio productions. Some of it's just useless cheese but there is some good material in there.
You simply won't find a better value in music production for this kind of money and this bundle is apparently exclusive to BestBuy. I can't find mention of Samplitude Music Studio MX ANYWHERE yet on the web.
I would recommend this to a friend!
