What's great about it: Presentation, book contents
What's not so great: Price
I was worried about the price when I bough this boxset but was pleasantly surprised when I opened it. Despite it not coming with any memorabilia or bluray dicss justifying the steep price, the presentation is AMAZING. The book is gorgeous and contains everything you can imagine: pics, lyrics, stories, press reviews, internal documents from the label, etc, etc. The book alone could be worth the money, or is close enough. The 1st two discs are great but also available in other editions. Two of the other discs (1CD & 1DVD) are the Paramount concert which is AMAZING but also available elsewhere, even in bluray (why didn't the box include a bluray???). It is nice that the box comes with a CD copy of it, though. The remaining disc is exclusive to this box, which is a preliminary remix of the album by Butch Vig, very interesting, but fairly similar to the final mix. While it definitively gives a good insight on the creation process of the album, I found the material on the 1st two discs more appealing. Overall, I think the price is still a little bit high, but if you can afford it, it's worth the investment. It is nice to get such a great presentation for such a great album!

What's great about it: Unreleased Material and Booklet
What's not so great: Expensive price tag
This product is great for an obsessed Nirvana fan like myself, I have been eagerly waiting for more unreleased material and this is great for that. Unfortunately some of the songs have already been released in other box sets (WTLO, Sliver the Best of the Box). What's great about this product however is the 90 page booklet as well as the previously unreleased Live at the Paramount concert in its entirety. Say what you may about Nirvana but this is a great tribute to such an iconic album.

What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: It's a little expensive
Great music and a great look at how they came up with the ideas for the songs as well as a huge book which contains many pages of the budget for the studio, tour and so on, gives you a honest look of what the company put into the band and makes you realize the band got that big just because they were that great and not cause the company pushed and promoted

What's great about it: It's Nirvana
What's not so great: Price, brickwall mastering, lack of quality content
God, what a letdown this was. People in the global internet Nirvana worshiping community were foaming at the mouth for this thing for months, until they saw the tracklisting - the original record, b-sides that every already has, the Smart Studios tape that EVERYONE already has (and isn't that good) and a live CD that everyone already has. Then they got REAL bummed when they heard it and realized it was "brickwalled" in the mastering stage, meaning, as someone else has already explained, compressed to hell so everything is the same volume (loud) and it hurts your ears, getting rid of many aural details in the process.
No doubt, the boombox rehearsal tape and the "Devonshire Mixes" were tantalizing. I was really hoping for the Devonshire Mixes to deliver, as Butch's mix of Breed on With the Lights Out is KILLER. However, they are kind of all over the place, which I suppose one should expect for rough mixes - some drums are too loud (Lithium), some too buried in the mix (Breed, Territorial Pissings), etc. I wanted to love them, but overall I don't. I do prefer the vocals on there, as they actually sound like vocals and not wrapped in plastic, and the bass sounds like a bass. People who are seriously into engineering seem to have problems with the different sounds of the drums. It's nothing I notice though. There is so much they could have included but didn't, in the way of outtakes and the such. Also, if you wanna see hardcore Nirvana fans get REALLY bummed, Google "Sound City Sappy."
In the end, the Boombox tape is definitely the gem here. Much better quality than I was expecting and it has never been circulated in any form anywhere. Really interesting stuff to see the band developing these monster songs in a time that would, in retrospect, be the calm before the storm. It's that much-fabled "last innocence" period.
Now to get at what you receive in exchange for your money - four CDs, a DVD and a hardcover book for $109-$130+, depending where you got (get) it. With the Lights Out is currently around $40 here and you get three CDs, a DVD and a softcover book. Both have substantial packaging. With the Lights Out had WAY more unreleased stuff on it, like most of it. Half of Super Deluxe, (CDs One and Two) on the other hand, has been released commercially. Disc Four replicates the DVD, which again, has been available as a high-quality audio bootleg since time immemorial. Plus, all the live b-sides are from this show, so those songs appear three times on the set - what? Anyway, you can buy the Deluxe for $20 and the DVD for $16 or so. What do you miss out on? Not much. Not much.
Seriously, why have not more people reviewed this thing to spread the truth?

What's great about it: everything
What's not so great: kurt cobain is no longer with us
this set was beautifully made. the music is fantastic but you already know that the dvd is great. it was good to see the band again after all these years. it really makes you think of what we lost when kurt cobain ended his life. this is a must have set.

What's great about it: Great album, Book, Packaging
What's not so great: Price
This is a great collectors item for any Nirvana fan.
What it contains:
Case that holds everything with a clear image of the front cover
Poster
Huge book
5 CDs
The case is very cool, and seems like it would be a good thing to protect everything inside. The poster is only on one side, which includes a photo of the three of them, and the other side is a few magazine scans.
The booklet, which is about 12x12 (size of a vinyl case) is awesome. I think it is about 90 pages and includes a biography, single info, video info, and many pictures. In the back of the book, there is lyrics to every song (off of Nevermind). In the last page, there are liner notes which contain the CD holders. The CDs are secure in it, and would not seem to fall out.
The CDs contain:
Newly remastered Nevermind album (which sounds GREAT, by the way)
All the B-sides off of the album
Early sessions
Alternate mixes
BBC sessions
Live at the Paramount CD
Live at the Paramount DVD
All of the CD tracks add up to 70 total, while the DVD includes the 19 set concert and four music videos.
This is a great set that every Nirvana fan should have. The only thing that might hold you back is the price.
