What's great about it: Portable, easy to use.
What's not so great: Color quality is not always great.
We bought this to scan pictures our out-of-town relatives have from way, way back. This one is very portable and easy to use. The color was only fair, but some black and white pictures came out better in the scan than they looked on the picture.
We will use this a lot.
Decent price and very portable. You do need a computer.

What's great about it: scan quality
What's not so great: confusing to get started at first
It took me a few minutes to figure out how to use but once I got that out of teh way I was very pleased with the outcome. The scans look very good for such an inexpensive product.

Good general scanner for around the house. Easy to use and has good quality for scanning photos etc. Much easier than on all in one printer scanner. The glass in my printer scanner is making whte sots in all photos. This is a better alterantive.

What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: need a steady hand
If I could use my flatbed scanner I would but for the odd jobs this is a great choise. Much better scan than I expected.

What's great about it: Scans quicky, portable
This portable scanner is amazing. I have a huge collection of magazine clippings that I've kept in a binder for years. My plan was to scan each page, but it was taking forever on my flatbed and I burned myself out, so I stopped. Since I've gotten this scanner, I've pulled them out again. In a day and a half, I've scanned over 400 items. I am halfway done and it feels great. It literally takes three seconds to scan a full page. You press the scan button, run it down the page, and then press it again. The file saves on your SD card. From there, you can insert the SD card into your computer to rip the images off or directly plug the scanner into your USB port.
The software that comes with the VuPoint is called Abby FineReader, but I haven't used it much. Instead, I open the images in Photoshop, crop, and save. It's very easy and the images look amazing. You can create a low or high quality scan, but even with the low quality scan, the images look pretty good. I believe you can save the scans in the Abby FineReader program as Microsoft Word docs, jpegs, or pdfs.
If you're one of those people that holds onto a lot of paper and desperately wants to get rid of it, then this scanner was made for you.
