What's great about it: detailed and gorgeous
What's not so great: price, few errors in the guide
OK, I have fallen into a game guide trap. If it's an RPG or has collectibles throughout a title, I am getting the guide. Today it's not like in the old school days when you relied on your gaming prowess to get you through the game or talked to your friends who might have stumbled onto something rewarding or cool.
However, if you are a completionist, this game guide is a beautiful and mostly helpful tool to add to your collection.
The pages are beautiful and detailed, however, whoever wrote the book, I have two issues with you:
1. Don't narrate the story as if I was a 2 year old. I'm a big boy. Just the facts, sir.
2. There are a couple errors in how to acquire or mislabeling of the goddess cubes. (i.e. - you cannot possibly get a certain goddess cube in the mountain the way it decribes or activating a certain cube does not give you the reward where it says it does) This, is easily remedied by going online for those select few and finding out how to acquire/location of those chests.
All in all, I wish the price was a little lower, but it's probably because of the harcover leather binding but it's worth getting.
However, if you are a completionist, this game guide is a beautiful and mostly helpful tool to add to your collection.

What's great about it: Detailed maps, Item lists, Great walkthroughs
What's not so great: Getting one that is damaged
As far as the guide goes it's really great for finding items and locations that you may have missed the first time. The detailed maps and descriptions make it very easy to find all items and locations as well as walkthroughs that can guide you in the right direction if you get stuck. The guide also included a cloth map with it as an added bonus for someone who is buying this from a collector point of view.
The only problem I had with this was the way it was shipped. It was shipped in a padded envelope instead of a box so that when I got it the guide was beat up and the corners where crushed. This is not good if you are looking to buy this for a collection or for someone else. I would gladly pay a little more for shipping so that it would come in a proper package and not be damaged. You would be better off not ordering this online and just go pick it up at the store.

What's great about it: The details
I purchased this guide when I bought the game, because it was offered at a discount. I like having game guides to go back over areas I've completed and to be sure I hadn't missed anything. This guide was excellent and spot on.
The maps it provided were very detailed and I didn't have any trouble finding what I missed. The descriptions for each step and for bosses couldn't have been better. I was able to complete the game 100% the first time through. Also, you get a really cloth map of the over world.
I would recommend this to a friend!
