What's great about it: Longer life, energy saver, best picture
What's not so great: the wait time
After debating, and doing my research (from consumer reports, calling samsung, reading reviews, and talking to television gurus) I decided to get my television calibrated after 4 months and it was the best investment that I have made on my set.
So let's start by some concerns that I had, first, I thought I could do it on my own by buying a dvd online about $20 and following the instructions, but it turns out that A. All you are really doing is playing with the colors and you are not really affecting anything on the set. B. if you play with the service menu you are voiding the manufactures warranty and run the risk to ruining your television. Second, I thought the price was too high. A. Well it turns out that if you get an ISF Certified technician outside best buy it was going to cost me $700 to do a house call as he explained to me that his equipment cost a lot of money. So I guess best buy price is a bargain for a technician who is Certified through the ISF institute and as they use the same equipment that private parties use. B. for something that is going to give me a good value and best picture on my television for a one time fee I think it's well worth it.
If you are on the fence I would recommend you do your research and find out for yourself. Personally, I would recommend you do it, you will not regret it. If you decide to get it, I would highly recommend that the person who watches television the most is home when they calibrate the set.

after the calibration I was very happy with my vt30 panasonic big difference and the technician was very good at explaing what he was doing. At first I was skeptical but the geek squad rocks the TV looks great.

I have a LC60LE835U Sharp 60” 240HZ 3D TV. I was misinformed at Best Buy @ Alamo Ranch. My wife and I are very unhappy with the picture. First Tech came out and so called c calibrated our television half of the calibration was done with the same DVD that I purchased from Bjorn’s and I took that $34 DVD back the next day. Went to Best Buy to complain about the picture and they pretty much told me that there wasn’t anything they could do for me and that I’d have to call Geek Squad even though I was at the store, so I called Geek Squad and had someone come out on super bowl Sunday. The second tech said that the Television looked good. The Television looks dull. I was misinformed at BB Alamo Ranch; I was told that Geek Squad could calibrate Yellows. That was BS! I had friends over for Super Bowl Sunday and all agreed that the calibrated setting looked ugly. The calibration is done to give more natural colors and to give your television a longer life. WOW! I don’t care about the television lasting longer. That’s why I spend extra money on the warranty. I would not recommend this to anyone I know. Now I’m out $200 because of this stupid calibration. I bought my television because of the way it looked at the store, why would I want it to look totally different? THE PICTURE LOOKS DULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's great about it: Picture jumps off the screen at you.
I was somewhat skepticle when I was considering this service. I looked online for reviews and the pros and cons of this service. To make a long story short, I scheduled my new LG TV for a calibration service call. I used my new tv for about 5oo hours before my technician came to do his thing. He took his time and explained everything he did and I actually saw him dial in the colors and contrast. What a magnificent improvement he made on my tv. I'm so glad I had this service performed on my tv. I have a LG 55LK520 television. I can't speak for others but I would always have this done to your new tv you just spent a boatload of money on. Good Luck
