I'm a big believer in heft of audio components ( and most things ) to be a sign of quality. The pioneer apps function was sub-par. And it kept undoing all of the settings after powering down. When it worked the picture and sound were stellar!

What's great about it: Good picture quality I guess
What's not so great: Everything else
Where should I start?? I payed 200 dollars for this hunk of junk, you'd think a player that expensive would work great right? Wrong. Price isn't everything. Not to say that was the only reason I bought this player though. I thought Pioneer was great with their "Elite" models, plus they supposedly had one of the best plasma TV's back in the day (Kuro). I also bought it because of the features like Pandora because my wife requires it, that was her one request the new player have. This player has been a piece of junk from the start! It freezes constantly during playing or menus. It is very slow starting up! You HAVE to press the power button to turn it on, no other buttons will work until you have pressed that one. Once you turn it on and wait forever for it to load up, if you press the open button too soon, it will open and then IMMEDIATELY close before opening all the way! How annoying!!! You'd think with the advancement in technology that a player this nice and expensive would have built in wifi right? EVERY PLAYER just about has built in wifi now STANDARD! Not this one! $200 wasn't enough for Pioneer to put wifi in it apparently. How pathetic on Pioneer's part! The remote is way too big and the buttons are all the same size and not immediately distinguishable from one another in dark situations (ex: watching a movie with the lights off). I was SORELY disappointed in Pioneer by this player and will never buy another Pioneer blu-ray player again. This is the worst player ever SECOND ONLY to every Samsung player ever made. See my review on the Panasonic DMP-BDT220 for one of the best blu-ray players I've ever had.
This product has... Slow load time, nothing good about it.

What's great about it: Has played everything we've tried (Blu-Ray, Netflix, Pandora) with excellent audio/video quality (1080p).
What's not so great: The network sharing (DNLA) software is buggy and locks it up.
There is a problem with the network interface where it locks up if it is put on a local network with windows PC"s sharing files, etc. Once I isolated it on it's own subnet, it worked perfectly. We have it set up for Netflix and Pandora and the audio and picture quallity is excellent (1080p through HDMI to DVI converter since our TV has DVI). it has played back BlueRay DVD's that our computer would not play, which is why we purchased it - the Netflix is an added plus whcih we now use instead of our Roku box (we still use Roku for other channels).
I suggest isolating it on a separate subnet from the rest of your network if you network it. If you have trouble with lock-ups, disconnect the network, unplug and plug back in - if it works without the network, then there is the problem. It doesn't give an error - it just locks up.
This product has... Great DVD upconversion, Useful Internet-enabled features, Good connection options, Easy to use controls, plays blu-ray discs that our computer would not., poor network compatibility - locks up on network

Overall a fine product. Basic DVD/BR playback is fine. Bought for iPOD network integration (iControlAV2 and AirPlay, etc) - which works most of the time- Pioneer network interface has some bugs and problems integrating with other common home network gear (routers, etc). Plan on reading lots of tech support BLOGS and running lots of experiments to get it running well. Not plug-and-play as you would expect from an Apple product. Pioneer support is OK by email.

What's great about it: simple to connect, operatie and great value
What's not so great: slow loading
This is a great product for the price. I had no difficulty setting it up with internet connectivity. I had wireless router next to the TV and all I had to do was connect an ethernet cable between the player and the router to access all of it's internet features. Although I don't need most of the features it has, I do like the iPhone app that allows you to control the player through your wireless network.
My only negative comment about it is that it is fairly slow to load menus from the disc.

What's great about it: Picture quality and sound
What's not so great: Cheap remote and lack of controls on the unit
This is very good player. The picture and sound quality are very good to excellent. The sound is clear and crisp. The picture clarity is very good to excellent. It does a great good of upscaling DVD's.I played one of Hogan's Heroes DVD's and the clarity was excellent. It's also a very good CD and SACD player. Another feature I enjoy on this player is Pandora radio. This player has a solid construction and more weight than other players so when you do use the face plate buttons it doesn't slide around like those thin 3 pound players do.The features that I thought that kept this player from being a 5 star unit was its lack operating control buttons on the players faceplate (almost all are on the remote) and the remote feels and looks and cheap. The only connections for hooking up the player are HDMI, Digital audio, Ethernet, and RCA. Additionally, it doesn't have WiFi so you'll need an Ethernet cable. Overall if your looking for a Blu-ray in the 200.00 dollar price range and use Ethernet cables like I do this is a great player to buy.
This product has... Great DVD upconversion, Useful Internet-enabled features, very good to excellent sound and picture

What's great about it: easy to setup and great quality
Pioneer just continues making quality products and is perfect match for other Pioneer products. Even 10+ old remote works with this DVD player.
Picture is perfect, setup allows DVD player to automatically adjust to TV, supports DLNA, various types of media formats.
Best of all - play 2,4,8,16,32x, fast forward, backward works with media files the same way as when playing movie from disk.
It has limited online channels, but since I already have media player, I didn't care much about online channel setup.

What's great about it: easy to use, great picture quality, plays streaming files
What's not so great: load time
The picture quality on this is far and away better than any other player ive seen... though that is only your run of the mill sony, panasonic, samsung, PS3 player. It plays almost any kind of file...which is awesome. The audio is also really impressive.

What's great about it: VIDEO QUALITY
What's not so great: LOAD TIMES
I went from a PS3 as my main blu ray player to this model and I must say the quality is amazing! Though its a bit slower when it comes to loading times..once the movie starts it makes it worth the wait! Color reproduction and clarity are excellent!
