What's great about it: Easy to use and always has H&R Block pro available for questions.
I've been using this tax software for years with 3 different small businesses and it works great. The process is intuitive and leads you right through. I like that this package includes 5 free efiles as well.

What's not so great: Deduction Pro does not transfer all deductions to the 1040
Couldn't do my taxes without it...makes tax prepartion easy.

What's great about it: ease
Overall as easy as it gets. By the time I gather all the paper work together to pay a CPA 5 times what this costs, I can spend an additional 1-1/2 hours putiing in the data. Been using this for years and never had an issue.

What's great about it: I have used H&R Block since it was Tax Cut and like the interface better than competing programs
What's not so great: Doesn't have the form I needed.
I bought a Nissan Leaf in 2011 which qualifies me for a $7500 Federal tax credit. However, H&R Block for 2011 did not support the form needed for this credit. This made the program totally worthless for my needs. I only found this out after taking several hours to input all of my data. My only choices were to print out the calculations performed, download forms from the IRS web site and complete everything by hand and mail it in, or to buy a competing product and spend several hours inputting my data all over. I ended up buying Turbo Tax and inputting my info again. While it was a pita and I don't like their interface, it did support the form I needed and allowed me to file by email.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: 5 free e-filings
What's not so great: Finding the definition of some tax language terms used on the federal forms.
I had no problems using the program. I really like the deduction pro add-on for my contributions. Some information was hard to find when I had a question or wasn't sure what a certain term meant. It would be nice if it had a glossary of terms. Overall, good product for my needs.

What's great about it: Good quality, easy to use and good price.
What's not so great: None
This product is easy to use for Fed and State tax reporting. It is much cheaper than the other well known brand product. I once had a free CD (the other expansive brand) from my brokerage, but it was so difficult to use it that I had to buy the TaxCut (former name of this product). I have been using this product for several years. For my frequent stock tradings, it downloaded information easily from the brokerage house. The Best Buy had a good price for this product.

Not as thorough or as easy to use as TurboTax. It did an acceptable job, but I like T-Tax better, and think it is more complete (in the same version). Cheaper, so I thought I'd give it a try. It was a false economy, in my opinion. Pay the extra $10.

Great tax software for use at home

What's great about it: Easy to use.
What's not so great: Efiling should be free for Federal and State taxes.
I am a repeat customer of this tax software. It is very easy to use and I just import my microsoft money into this tax software and it fills out most of the forms for me. I just need to go through and verify and check that the numbers are correct. I really like the Charitable donation schedule that helps you organize and price your donations. I, also, like the H&R Block backs you up and represents you if you are ever audited by IRS. Also, it gives you all the tax changes and updates you to the latest tax laws and any changes currently. It gives you advice and tips to help you fill out forms and plan for the future. I would highly recommend this software to help you fill out your taxes.

What's great about it: you can send 5 federal taxes w/no additional charge.
What's not so great: Did not give error message when uploading updates
I wasted several hours trying to figure out why it would not send my federal via internet. I finally called the help desk and found that the version I bought did not work and had to uninstall and install from a version they sent me. Very disappointing.

What's great about it: very easy to use if you have your documents in front of you.
Although the box does not indicate that it is sufficient for small business tax needs- I find that this works for a home based/no employee business also, without going up to the next level of program offered.

My opinion is that H&R Block tax software is the best tax software for the price. I have used it and the preceeding Tax Cut software since I started using tax software.

What's not so great: Ethics, CS, portability of your information
I used the online version of this product for the last two years. I bought this product thinking it was the same thing. Same name, same logo, and same software. Guess what, they don't work together. It took 2 hours to figure that out, talking to custormer support it was obvious that they knew that and were it was intentionly hidden. They were very rude and poorly trained. I will never use H&R block products again. You have been warned, swim at your own risk.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Quick and easy. If you can do your taxes on paper, you can do it with H&R Block
What's not so great: You need a computer...dah....but it does have a current operating system
I have been using H&R Block for a few years and it is so easy to complete our taxes. I can import last years information and simply enter the new information. Simple questions are asked to lead you thru the tax forms. There are help options for additional assistance.

Decided to try HR Block Tax program this year due to the increased cost of TurboTax each year. Boy, was I glad I did. the program was very easy to use. It imported all of my TurbTax info from 2011 ands made completing my and my kids taxes easy.
