What's great about it: reliable, good quality, great upgrade
What's not so great: Not sure if it was just my case, but a WHOPPING part of the disk just disappeared.
Ok, so not tool long ago, over a period of time, my Ps3 kept freezing. I kept on having to do those dreaded "Force Re-starts". All have us that game know that is VERY bad. I started getting messages after the force re-start that the ps3 had been turned off incorrectly, and that the machine was searching for and restoring corrupt files. This began happening VERY often, until the console would no longer say that a file "might" be corrupt, but that the Hard Disk might be corrupt. Within ONLY a matter of time, this endless circle began: got frozen, would have to force re-start, it would check and restore, only it would now freeze in the menu screen, and well, wash rinse and repeat. :( ;(
It was a matter of time before the thing did not EVEN work. So, I decided to get a whole new HDD instead. I got a black Ps3 slim 160GB. I was going to go with other brands but I read often that Western Blue is a good brand. Only that some other Ps3 gamers were saying that they got the 7,200 one, but later discovered that it is believed that the Ps3 comes by default with the 5,400 speed. Some believe that the extra speed your ps3 gains, will come at the cost of over heating. So it was best to keep the normal speed it comes with.
I MUST say that I am VERY happy that i bought this HDD. The quality is VERY good. Many issues that I had no idea why were happening have now disappeared and the Ps3 is working like a charm.
What I MUST say is that for SOME strange reason, it's giving me MUCH less than the 500GB capacity. Now, i know that is normal. SEe, when its was 160GB, the Ps3 would tell me I had 100 out of 145GB available. So 15GB would disappear. But this time around, It said JUST installing it that there were 400 out of 465GB left. So from the VERY start, i would count exclusively on 400GB. 100 would just be lost. So that was a bit disappointing.
I would HIGHLY recommend for others with Ps3's to back up their stuff. I never did this, and I lost entire game saves. Not to mention that Im a platinum hunter..so that hurt ( had to do Brotherhood ALL over again- plus my heavy rain, plus REd dead redemption, Killzone 3 had to beat ALL over again to platinum it, my wife lost all her game saves too-Grrr!!! )
Now, for some reason, Not all my games had to get "Re-installed", so im not sure if that is why there were 35GB missing from the get go. Other than this, RELLy enjoying the new space.
This product has... Reliable, Fast, Quiet, Large capacity/good size, great upgrade for ps3
About me... Gamer, 34 yearl-old gamer and good show and movie lover:)
I would recommend this to a friend!
