What's great about it: Quiet, and nice rendering.
What's not so great: A lot of restrictions on software.
Hardware is very good, one fault maybe that the tray doesn't slide out 100 percent. The disc must be angled in. Software has alot of restrictions. Cannot read BD on Windows XP Pro bit 64, regular DVD's play good. No problems with WinXP bit 32, Vista, and Win 7 both bit 32 & 64. I used this LG BD-ROM only on desktops, and Video card is also restricted to 512mb memory. Anything less will cause blu ray to be choppy. Cyber PowerDVD 10 provided with the LG plays blu rays without any hitches once you pass the qualifications. I also think that the $90 sale price is good value.
This product has... Quiet, included software is good.

No problems with the drive at all, it does take two USB ports to note, and also hard to find Blue Ray discs to burn to.

Comes with a CD to install Blu-Ray playing software (if your computer does not have it). Pay attention to the minimum requirements regarding processor power and video graphics card on your computer before purchasing any Blu-Ray player. It is my understanding that this device will burn regular DVDs, not Blu-Ray DVDs, hence the lower price. The player is designed to play (not write) Blu-Ray discs. Since many nowadays compress DVDs into mobile-device formats, a player (versus a player/writer) is sufficient. For those seeking a Blu-Ray writer (burner), seek a product in a higher price range.

I just received this as a Christmas gift. The installation went smooth and fast. This hardware and software does require a lot of computer resources and I would assume that this is the case for most Blu-Ray drives.

Wanted to up grade the computer to a blue ray disc, picked this one up, installed it, would not play, tried again, followed the instructions to the letter, still would not play, took it back, the store gave me the refund, (good for best buy) If you like to waste your time on a computer, then this brand is for you, I demand better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
