What's great about it: no iMusic and iPod hassles when changing laptop, quick rip speeds and great sound and video quality, iPod quality less$
What's not so great: on/off button not protected and easily gets bumped on, Screen scratches easily

Pros, great ease of pulling files and quick to sync to new computers, using window's media can rip new songs super quick. Sound is great if you spend an extra $20+ on a good set of ear buds. I use form fitted in-the-ear skull candy brand and also a Bose noise reduction over-the-ears model (even when using iPod-I don't like those white uncomfortable buds). Sound equals if not exceeds iPod in all ways.
Cons: on/off button always being bumped on- no cover or lock feature to stop it form draining battery. Screen scratches VERY easily.
Bottom-line: I would NOT RECOMMEND this product until they fix the on/off issue or create a button lock or case to block the key.

I've owned several iPods prior to this and one other generic mp3 player. I wanted to switch away from Apple because I am sick of the massive headaches when changing laptops and the iPod being a nightmare to recoup the songs via a very long back door method.
The Sony, as the iPod, will only sync to one computer BUT you can easily open the Sony up as a portable drive and drag all your songs, pics and vids on you new laptop. Then reboot the Walkman- which will dump all the data and info back to its original out of box state. Then re-sync with new computer, re-sync in a matter of minutes you are back up and running. In addition, the speed to rip and burn cd's through window's media player is blazing fast! What would take hours for the iTunes/iPod takes less than an hour via the window's media player/Sony.
So the 1 MAJOR FLAW is the flat face and the power button is a push button on the front which is not covered nor can I find a cover to help it from being bumped. Therefore, say over the Pacific Ocean when you pull it out to use you find it has long been bumped on and the battery is nearly dead. I finally made a home made case box that helps a lot but it still gets turned on under rough bumpy conditions. They need a dedicated on/off slide switch on the side or a way to lock the buttons like a cell phone and then I would say this is the best deal on market. Such an easy fix but they have yet to acknowledge me and change this.
Thus until they change the on/off feature or create a protective cover to stop the accidental bumping to on I WOULD NOT buy this again.
Last Flaw, the screen scratches VERY easily.
I am looking for another one now for those reasons. I've had this one for about 8 months and just had enough! Will look for another Sony in hopes a newer one has the on/off soulution fixed.
