What's great about it: easy to set up, works great with my fax
Got 12 months of phone service what used to give me 4 months through my cable company. I set up for my fax machine and it works great.

My 2nd Magic Jack to leave in the Philippines for fre calls back and forth to wife's family. Also to register cell phone for free international calls from anywhere in the world. Works great!

MagicJack is an excellent investment. Price is much better than traditional land line phones. Easy to set up and use. No problems with sound and/or quality of calls. Sends voicemail to your email account.

What's great about it: save $$ in international calls
our extended family uses this in Brazil to call us and visa versa, we call a US number. Many $$ saved over the cost of the device in a very short time.

What's great about it: price, basic phone features, decent quality of service, first year of service comes with device.
What's not so great: Nothing!
Phone service without paying a huge monthly fee. First year service comes with device. Has voice mail, directory, all basic features that I need for a home phone. For $30 per year, you cannot go wrong here. I love it.

What's great about it: Quick set up, good price.
What's not so great: Ocassional voice drop-off.
Price was exceptional compared to other VoIP options. Set up was accomplished by following several basic instructions. Voice quality is very good. There is some voice drop-off/distortion especially when you and the person called talk at the same time. Have also noticed some distortion when picking up voice messages. Overall it works very well and I am quite pleased.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: Names aren't showing up on caller id but numbers do, not that big of a deal.
Great device, just plugs into your modem or computer. Kept my same home number. And I have no phone bill till 2019! All for $170

What's great about it: Very inexpensive
What's not so great: reliability
Very easy to use and install, excellent call quality, best price for a land line phone. Only downside is that about twice a week when I try to make a call, I get a dial tone but the calls do not go through. I was easily able to connect to MagicJack's customer support online chat, and they instructed me to unplug the MagicJack from the power to reset it, which worked, but they ended the chat session before I could find out why I have to do this in the first place. It may be a problem with MagicJack, or something with my network, but I have yet to find out which. But, for the price, it really can't be beat.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: Customer service is terrible.
I like the price and the phone works great but when it broke they took forever to replace it. The only option for support is live chat. It becomes obvious very quickly that all the "American" names they use for their display names are all made up to hide the fact that they are a foreign operation. Their English is very good, but you can tell by their small mistakes that English isn't their first language. It took me 6 chat sessions and well over 6 hours of "try this, try that" for me to get mad and demand they quit wasting my time and replace it. The 5th session ended with the support person just ending the session with no notice. I wasn't hostile nor raging or anything until she hung up on me. That's when I demanded that they replace it and quit jerking me around.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good tech item, but misleading about number port

What's great about it: Inexpensive, works.
What's not so great: Number porting is misleading.
I ended up returning this item because my number could not be ported. The website test initially told me it could port my home number, but when I got the item I found that wasn't the case. Their only solution was "Try again later.". That wasn't feasible because I would have to keep paying my local phone company for an indefinite time until Magic Jack magically allowed my number to port. I bought an OOMA instead and got my number ported. I love it! Also, it will be much cheaper than magic jack in the long run. Payback period over my local phone bill is 7 months. Payback over magic jack is 21 months.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
