What's great about it: yearly cost - very cheap
What's not so great: one time $60.00 cost, that all #s (teleconference) are not included but rather cost additional money
Overall the service is good. I lose a call every once in a while. However, I can't pin point that to the MagicJack, as it may be my internet provider.
The set-up was a little annoying with all the additional upsell products and services offered.
Disappointed that not all numbers are free to call. A common teleconference number costs extra.
Can't access voice mail from the computer interface unless you plug the MJ into the computer. Annoying for those of us with MJ+ that is connected to our Wifi router.
Overall though, it's a good product at a great price.

What's great about it: easy to use and install
What's not so great: just free for U.S.A only.
Magic jack is good gear, but we need something more cheaper to call international. We call to International country, but we have to use a prepaid card, and is almost the same expenses that a regular phone com. this desapointment me, because at this point I have to take back the phone Co. and that socks. The phone co. charge us for everything when we call international. Magic Jack have to invent something good for us too. We are good money for USA. Magic jack is good, no doubt about it, but you have to think in Us, the international people callers.

What's great about it: Excellent Call Quality
What's not so great: Hidden fees
... but there are a few issues that I am not too happy about. There were hidden charges that I was not told about. I had to pay to have mu phone number ported over, $9.95, plus other charges, such as $19.95 if you want to use the Magic Jack after the initial 30 day trial period, something that came included FREE with the regular Magic Jack. If you elect not to use it with your computer, you will not have access to the computer interface, which would make it a lot easier to store names and phone numbers in a directory.
In closing, I would suggest that the buyer beware. Do your research like I thought I had done.

What's great about it: Overall low price verse regular phone
What's not so great: Keeping current number. Finding local number if not in big city
The phone is easy to install but you do need a computer to get it set up. Had it working in a few minutes. Things to keep in mind; do you want to keep you number? Mine I could not. Maybe because I live outside a big city. Could not even find a local number but could find area code in neighboring city. Overall phone quality is fine - just like cable phone we had before. The model I got allows you to just plug it into the wall next to your Internet connection - no need for a computer like the other cheaper model. You can also take it on a trip with your laptop and still use you same number and make free calls.

What's not so great: can't disable the voice mail
Works great. Plug it in to computer, let it setup software, create an account, (Watch out for gimmicky add-ons during registration process), and you are good to go. I t used it for about a week for out going calls. Then I had my existing phone number transferred ( $10 charge for that) and had my basic AT&T phone service terminated. So far so good. We have used it for about a month now. Nice features that cost extra with AT&T include caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding and free US & Canada long distance.

What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Poor customer service on an overseas part-chatroom participants not familiar with product. Lied to 3 times
Defective part, poor service, repeated lies, beware! After spending hours and repeated chats(no phone communication available on their end), and being shuffled from agent to agent, we were informed that a replacement ac adapter would be shipped. We waited a month and still no ac adapter. After being told 3 different times it was being shipped, come to find out, it had never been ordered. This lastest attempt, I was told to purchase an ac adapter at a local hardware store. Finally, I decided to just go back to regular home service from a carrier. Much happier. This is a time when buyer beware is good advice.

What's great about it: Cheap calls. No computer needed.
What's not so great: Needs to identify itself to the router with some form of name to make maintenance easlier.
The unit runs a little warm. At first it was dropping calls but after a quick conversation of their internet help site, MagicJack made a software patch that settled it down. I also made sure the jack was sitting where it can keep cool. I have a daily two hour meeting and after they patched the device, it has run solid.

The MagicJack Plus does not require your computer to be on which is a major upgrade over the original MagicJack. When you first hook it up you need to go to the Magic Jack website and upgrade the software. That will prevent your calls from dropping. Call quality is good. As long as the jack hardware does not fail in the future then this is a great product. Make sure you sign up for the 911 service, its free and you do this on the website.

What's great about it: price per yr
What's not so great: performance
I've had this for about a month. The price is far less than my other alternatives so that is a plus. Set up is easy, and once it is set up it works like a regular phone for the most part. Another plus. However it does regularly drop calls. No warning, no static suddenly you discover that you are talking to dead air or the phone rings in your hand and your party asks why you hung up.... It is not my internet connection I have excellent service throughout house. It just drops calls. It is also a problem to have to go to my email and download a file to get voicemail. I have phones capable and set up to receive messages, but never gets that far. I must discover by accident that I have missed a call or gotten a message. That is very inconvenient. I would still recommend for the price vs others, but it is not the product it is advertised to be.

What's great about it: Good reception - good customer service
What's not so great: Will not work (here at least) without plugging in to computer
Bought this item hoping it would free up the computer - not so, must plug in and then it disconnects if the computer isn't in use. I am disappointed, but it is better than paying high long distance costs.

What's great about it: fairly cheap, no pc required (except for initial setup)
What's not so great: no local nums everywhere
If you just need an extra phone that may or may not be able to call certain telephone exchanges, magicjack is for you. I use mine as a backup to a cell and found about 10% of the calls I try to make cannot go through. It does not have local numbers in all areas (even though my city is over 50k) so I have a Madison, WI number. It drops calls after a while but that could be overheating as in other posts or it could have been the other person, its hard to tell when its not a cell. The volume levels are not the same as the regular land lines. I have my brand new phones cranked up to the max to get a normal sound level. Cannot have the voicemail forward to more than one email address (like so the wife gets the voicemail if you are not home??) I was planning on porting in my cell phone, but am waiting on my plan to run up to see if my local number can port in as their support doesnt do much for help on pre-determining it.

What's great about it: low yearly cost, can get phone numbers from other states
What's not so great: unable to fax and not all caller id info comes through complete
I needed an inexpensive way to have a home phone along with internet. getting this little jewel has almost cut my monthly bill in half with only a few small drawbacks. I no longer need to fax in my paperwork for work so I don't mind the fact that I can't really send faxes with magic jack. I also wish they had more phone numbers closer to where i live so that neighbors could call without having to call long distance, but that being said, they rarely call us on our landline anyway. It truly has been saving us and has actually been clearer than our original land line was. no more buzzing like we used to have. Only have to do a little maintenance about once a month to reboot modem and magic jack. other than that, i have been very happy with the purchase.
