And quite possibly the greatest LAN game made to date! Me and my friends still LAN it to this day, 9 years and counting.
What's great about it: LAN Multiplayer
What's not so great: No online, but that's why it works so well as a LAN title.

This is a classic almost up there with Metriod, not quite Mario. Only thing that would make it better is a mouse and keyboard, I like fps's one PC better.
What's great about it: One of the best FPS's on console.
What's not so great: Is an FPS's on console, but really nothing is a great game.

Halo-is friggn' amazing. You will want to play this game over and over again. The multiplayer part of it will keep you busy also- if you have friends. Sorry-no online. The story actually starts in the year 2532. Man has acheived space travel and has colonized across the galaxy. But when they encountered a religious alien alliance caled the Covenant, they got into a REALLY BIG war. It is actually revealed in one of the books that the Covy leaders: the Prophets, actually found out that the humans are the inherited descendents of their "gods", the Forerunner. You see the Covenant believe that 100,000 years ago the Forerunners entered salvation through their ringworld creations: the Halos. But knowing that this knowledge would break up the Covenant- the Prophets declared the humans as perversions of the Covy religion. 20 years later in the year 2552, all of the colonies have been wiped out- except for Earth. And during the war- the humans created a branch of super soldiers called "Spartans" But now only one spartan is left: John-117, The Master Chief. During the battle of Reach; the only colony planet between the Covenant and Earth, Chief, the captain of a ship named: The Pillar of Autumn, and the ship's AI Cortana, escaped the battle and drew a Covenant fleet away from Earth, only to run into a Halo ring. This is where the game begins. First you have to escape the ship, then you have to search for survivors across the ring, then you have to rescue the captain, THEN you have to find Halo's control room. Then you have to find the captain again. But something's wrong. While searching for him, you see some truly disturbing sights. That is until wuh-oh! Plot Twist! It turns out that the Forerunners had actually created the Halo rings to starve an alien space zombie called "The Flood"- and how do you starve it? By killing all sentient life in the galaxy of course! So when the Halos were first activated, the Forerunners died. Its explained later that before the Halos were fired, a few Forerunner took the galaxy's sentient species to a sheild world called the ARK- which also served as the prime control center. So why are there still Flood? Because some samples were kept for research of course! So now you have to blow up Halo. You blow up Halo, you escape, and the game ends. The campaign is awsome, multiplayer is kinda cool, but its such a shame that they had to downgrade the graphics so the AI could be better. Oh well- its not a big problem. An enormous diamond in a treasure trove of great games.
What's great about it: Amazing gameplay, story, charactors, settings, and AI
What's not so great: No online multiplayer, and a really bad level

one very awesome game i beat this whole game in 2 seconds on legendary no cheats either this game is awesome from begining to end halo is one very awesome game cant wait till the movie gets made if it ever gets made that is all in all one very awesome game

Halo 1 was my first Xbox game I ever accuired. I bought full price on November 15, 2001 the day it was released. Halo 1 has been an influence on many of the great first person shooter's out today simply because it was the first and greatest FPS of its time. I have played this game through and through many times and I simply love it. It has great graphics and a wonderful storyline that keeps you playing, plus great cinematic cutscenes. Any one who owns an Xbox or even the 360 if you have not played this game, play it I highly recommend it.
What's great about it: Graphics, Gameplay, Campaign/Storyline.
What's not so great: Nothing

This was the game that made Xbox what`s now, Microsoft launched for the first time the Xbox with Halo! This game was the one that put Xbox in number 1 on the list of game consoles, so buy it!

This is the best game that came out for the Xbox , it had everything ... i must have finished this game like 50 times , the only thing missing from this masterpiece was online gameplay ..... Halo 2 and 3 are great but Halo 1 was truly combat evolved
What's great about it: Graphics , campaign , Co Op .... multiplayer
What's not so great: only game in the trilogy that does not have Online Gameplay

This is a good start to the halo trilogy. The weapons could be more accurate, though. The shotgun is so bad you could shoot somebody at the other side of the room and still kill them. Also the energy sword is bad because you cant use it. The energy sword should be useable in this game. Other than that it is very good.
What's great about it: Good start to a trilogy
What's not so great: the weapons

Halo is a game that you can spend a while on the campaign and then go to a sick multiplayer with tons of maps and this is one of the first games with a coop campaign which is really awesome
What's great about it: multiplayer, coop, and the campaign it self
What's not so great: nothing it is one of the few perfect games

This game definitely deserves the reputation it has! I've played this game for hours without getting even a little bit sick of it (at first).
Although after several hundred hours playing this, I just had to stop. But this is probably the game I played the most, and most likely still will be.

I can't believe how long it's been since Halo: Combat Evolved was released. I can remember it as being the first video game that I've ever played and for that, it has high sentimental value. If for some crazy, horrible, insane reason you haven't purchased this game for the past couple years, you must buy it now just to see how the best selling game series began.
My personal opinion is that Halo is the best of the series, not for it's graphics or game play, but for it's cinematic presentation and musical score. But back in the day, Halo did have state of the art graphics and was of the first games for the Xbox platform. If you've played any of the other Halo games, they all have pretty much the same game play interface (a first person view), but in Halo, you can't dual wield weapons.
Nothing is actually wrong with the game aside from the fact that you might find the graphics a bit bad compared to games today, but you have to remember how long ago it was released and it has a short campaign. So go out and finish the game 7 or 8 times because it's just that good.

This is the first Halo game. I bought this game when I had original Xbox. I played this game before Halo 2 and then I bought Halo 3. For people with Xbox 360 buy this and Halo 2 so you can see how the story ties in.
