What's not so great: The square design on the ears.
This headset is the best sounding headset I have purchased so far.I'm not crazy about the square design that cover the ears though. But the material they used to cover the ears is very confortable. This set is great for gaming as well as listening to music.Thumbs up for this headset.....

What's great about it: Price is awesome for a 7.1 gaming headset.
What's not so great: Is the MOST uncomfortable headset i have ever used!! After about 10 mins, i started to get a terrible headache.
I must say, after seeing the price i was hoping for a good head to replace my Razer headset i have. Lets just say after about 45 mins, the headset went straight back to BestBuy. I could wear my Carcharias headset for HOURS without ever having any comfort problems.

What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: Nothing
Well built. Great Sound! And not just for gaming. Brought new life to movies videos gaming. My gaming buddies have all commented on the sound of the mic as well. The 780 is my first headset. The drawbacks to me are mostly preference. A left or right boom; oblong earphones, noise cancel is great and comfort is there with square; and lastly since I am not used to a headset, the weight is something to adjust to. Overall, extremely pleased! Will definitely recommend this headset.

What's great about it: sofness of pads
What's not so great: squeezes big heads.
Sound is excellent with dolby 7.1 processing. Ear cup padding and headband are very soft. Yet I have a large head (7 3/4 hat size) and will get a pressure ache on my left ear. Cups are square rather than oval so you may have to tuck your ears into them if they're long. I'll still wear them though cause the sound is nice and rich.

What's great about it: Excellent sound reproduction. Just enough bass to satisfy.
What's not so great: I can hear a loose screw in the left earpiece.
I have had plenty of headsets over the years. With each one I searched for the best value and sound for the money. This headset delivers both.
Much more "hefty" feel to these over the other plantronics sets I have owned. The sound quality is amazing. Granted, the 780 uses software to reproduce the surround. I myself cant tell a difference. So this is in no way any con.
The Gamecon 780 is definitely getting recommended to all my friends and family. If your looking to upgrade to surround sound and are on a tight budget. Then these are the solution. You wont be disappointed.

What's great about it: Microphone
What's not so great: Bass could have a deeper impact
For the first couple days, this headset seemed a little tight, but they seemed to loosen up a little bit and are very comfortable now. They are very well constructed with metal reinforcement through the headband, which is good for me because I have accidently stepped on a few headsets and broke them in the past. These won't break very easily. Mids and Highs are very nice. The bass is the only thing that bothers me a little. This headset is capable of reproducing some very punchy clear bass, but it lacks that ground shaking feeling even though it is capable of reproducing frequencies down to 20hz. The microphone is exceptionally clear for online gaming. I am very impressed. Much better than other headsets I have heard and tried. Overall I am very pleased with this headset and I would recommend it to anyone looking for quality gaming sound for a good price.

What's great about it: mic is the best quality
What's not so great: bass is a little lacking, but not awful
I was using a set of Logitech's (the "high end" ones) and was a bit hesitant to go to these, but I wanted to try them out. I am so glad that I did, they are about twice as comfortable (I get a lot of headaches so ear comfort is a big concern for me). I will admit that I fell in love on the first day. It was like actually talking to someone and hearing sounds instead of computer processed .mp3 files. The bass is about the only thing slightly lacking here, everyone I talk to (that actually knows me), says hey you don't sound like you have a sock in your mouth anymore. The dolby is done a little different then i'm used to but I tried for a day on and day off and it definatley sounds better and clearer on. Do yourself a favor and save some cash and buy these.

What's great about it: Flat sound, wide frequency range, MIC is directional and really clear, right pricing
What's not so great: Little overweight, ear cushions not that soft
I play BF3 constantly and recently upgraded to GC780. The sound is full, with a flat response to all frequencies. I was used to another headset that had the bass pumped all way up but that was cheating my ears when I first used this headset. After a few days you can start appreciate it and by the way they have a response close to my behringer near-field monitors and yamaha listening speaker (where in fact I could not hear all that bass too, because they have a real flat response unlike my previous headset).
The headset looks really tough, not something that is going to crumble after few month usage, also the dolby virtual is doing a great job even though it does not feel like a real 7.1 but sounds seems like coming from back, sides, or behind you and that is a real added value.
As for comfort I find them a little bit overweighted but the top cushion is doing its job right.
The MIC is very directional and clear so it keeps out most of the surrounding sound while other can hear me the way it is supposed to be.
Overall a nice headset, with flat response, wide frequency range, build to last, and a virtual 7.1 that does its job without pretending to be a full 7.1 and the price feels right for the package.

What's great about it: Plantronics; Super clear voice communications
What's not so great: Bypass my Sound Card, Do not seem to need one
I think many people will be very happy with the sound and clarity of the headphones. If you do not have a sound card, meaning you have on board sound, these will be perfect for you. If you are looking for surround sound and near perfect voice communications these are the headphones for you.

What's great about it: microphone
What's not so great: bass
i have been gaming for a very long time i have been through many head sets from the dinky Logitech head set to the expensive Razers this head set is very good quality its durable and the padding is very nice noise cancellation it top notch and the microphone is actually the best quality i have heard the only down side that i see is that when your playing battlefield 3 or another game with explosions the bass is not really there i could be wrong because it does depend on your computer hardware overall these are good headphones and i would recommended that people buy them

What's great about it: Very comfortable
What's not so great: Virtual 7.1 surround
I've had these headsets for about a week and they are GREAT! Keep in mind that these are gaming headsets and not headsets made for music, the Gamecon 780 is AWESOME! The sound is very nice clear and crisp, deep ear cavities to fit your ears and it's not tight around you head! I can wear them about 6 hours a day (not recommended) without getting too sore! I do not recommend this for music though because it is for gaming and virtual 7.1 is just what it is, virtual. But so far these are my favorite headsets!

What's great about it: Sturdy, Easy set up
What's not so great: Bass, Software limitations
After reading a lot of reviews from here and Amazon I was expecting more, but I'm satisfied.
Pro: The construction seems very sturdy which is a huge plus. $80 isn't a huge hit for 7.1. They match my computer hardware set up color wise. Microphone is very good.
Easy / Uncluttered set up. Sound quality is good. You can hear pretty much every sound. Take awhile to used to all the new highs and medium pitch sounds you will now have. At first thought it was kind of tinny sounding , but after playing for awhile I figured out it all the new sounds that you pick up.
Con: #1 I was expecting a lot more bass. The bass is just OK.
#2 The software is very limited as far as settings. There is no way to adjust sound range at all. There are 2 setting buttons and that is it.
1 button to enable of disable Dolby. One button to change from Game/Movie over to Music. #3 The separation is noticeable, but not as good as I was hoping. I run a 5.1 Dolby digital home theater set up when gaming with out headphones, so I'm spoiled as far as that goes.
Conclusion :
Not as good as I was hoping for , but for a headset I am very satisfied with my purchase. I recommend these. If Plantronic's reads these reviews , Please work on updating your software with more features.

What's great about it: Performance and Price
What's not so great: Comfort, hurts my ears a little bit.
I have owned several headsets. Everything from Logitech to Gamecom 777's. All my previous headsets had one major flaw..they broke. I play online games like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and Batllefield 3. Sound is important because it tells me where the enemy is and how far away. Previous headsets always broke because they were made of plastic and that plastic eventually cracked if you were not super careful. I purchased the Gamecom 780 to replace my broken Gamecom 777. The difference is night and day. Honestly I shouted "Wow" when I tried them out playing Battlefield 3. My wife started laughing, because I was so surprised by the performance. Overhead aircraft sounded so real. I could hear them approach, roar overhead, and fade into the distance. Explosions have a bass boom that literally made me jump! Footsteps crunching as I walked sounded so realistic. The squeaky metal gears of my tanks tracks sound like the real thing. The concussions of my weapon firing and of my brass hitting the ground after firing my weapon were so realistic and amazing, I was absolutely dumfounded that I had played games for so long without this type of sound clarity and realism. The difference between what I had been using for headsets and the Gamecom 780 was stunning. I called my son downstairs (he also plays BF3 using a Logitech brand). After taking the 780's for a test drive, he was blown away. He started saying "did you hear how the helicopters sound? What about the sniper rifle..did you hear THAT?" I am so surprised by this product! The sound is above and beyond my expectations. The only con's on the product are the availability and the fit. I ordered them online from Bestbuy.com. I was disappointed to find that this product is not available in store. I was further disappointed to learn that a "pick up in store" or "ship to store" option was not available. That being said, I was able to have them shipped to my door in about 3 business days for no extra charge (standard shipping). The price of the Gamecom 780 is very reasonable, I would have paid more. The sound quality is phenomenal. The comfort is good, a little tight..or maybe I should say a little too snug for my comfort. However, I should note that my 777's were being held together with duct tape, so maybe I have become accustomed to a loose feel over the last few months. The 780's do not feel uncomfortable, just a little snug. The durability is hard to judge right now, since I have only had them a few hours. However, I can already see that the construction is more hardy than the 777's. The area that my 777's have always broken at (I have owned three) is at the spot where the plastic headband connects to the earmuff area. The 780's have metal frames at this location, so I doubt they will break easily. In any case, I purchased the 2 yr warranty upgrade from Bestbuy. I plan on telling everyone I game with about the amazing improvement that the 7.1 sound adds to my game experience. I really like the Gamecom 780 and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a durable headset with amazing sound performance at a great value. My recommendation to you, loyal review reader, is to order this product and experience the amazing sound performance. Then write a review of your own...we need to spread the word about the Gamecom 780!
