Wow! The unit arrived very quickly, 3 days from ordering (on a Sunday) and 2 days from shipment notification. It was like the warehouse was in my metro area, though it shipped from several states away.
The first thing I noticed is that the unit is very compact, almost tiny. I do not think they could have made it much smaller, as the back side is edge-to-edge Ethernet ports. The front side has the requisite LEDs (a nice green rather than the obtrusive super bright blue ones that some manufacturers are using). The case is durable metal. Well built.
The only thing missing was that the white ink stamping of the power receptacle configuration on the metal casing lacked the voltage rating (in case one loses the AC adapter that came with the unit); not a major item, but a minor engineering oversight.
I connected the AC adapter, plugged in my Ethernet cords and it was up and running without any additional input from me. I was able to connect several additional computers to the Internet and check mail finally on an email account I had not accessed in 6 months. It is nice to have a few extra spare ports (I need 10 ports just for what I have currently in my large home office).
The unit seems quick enough and I have not had any communication issues. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who needs 10/100 transfer rates.
Kudos to Best Buy, which had the best price on the Internet for the item at the time I purchased it. It was definitely a Best Buy! Thanks.
