I usually use these headphones daily, but not for anything where I need high quality sound. They're great for trips, chillin' with an iPod, or just watching YouTube videos. The sound quality is, in my opinion, really good, especially for the price. After having them on for a while though, they eventually hurt my ears b/c they're a little too tight. My only 'serious' complaint is that the semi-circle bracket that holds the ear piece to the head bracket breaks very easily. I've had to super-glue it twice since my purchase last year. Nevertheless, I'm stopping by Best Buy today after class to pick up another pair. (Can't beat that price, just be gentle w/ them)
What's great about it: Good sound, great price, long cord, decent quality
What's not so great: *Can* break easily, a little too tight
Best Uses: When I travel, At home

I bought these headphones for $16.00 at a local staples and had them for a week now. When first holding them it felt like cheap plastic and the ear piece seemed very loose but i guess its for moving them in and out. But the sound quality is pretty for good low and high bass notes. When played too loud the bass blurs together getting one giant sound. The cord is LONG, had to keep the wires strip tied. I'm not sure if I'm the only one but my ear hurt after 30min to an hour because the headphones are too tight on my head, tried different adjustments but taking them off for a little helps ease the discomfort. Very sturdy from what I have heard from other review, but again, I am pretty delicate with my things. Good low end budget headphones. Go get them.
What's great about it: Price
What's not so great: Discomfort to my ear for periods of time.
Best Uses: When I travel, Gym / Working Out, At work, At home, anywhere really.

Price on BestBuy.com... $9.95 (March 2010), price in-store $24.99 !!! (N.Y.)
I only paid $10 for this headphones! With this price the sound quality is well above average, build quality is excellent.
Can't really complain because for ten bucks I can't expect the best headphones there is, but they are much better than many other head phones two to four times as expensive.
A bit to tight fitting and cord could be a little longer...but then again for 10 dollars it is a steal of SONY quality compact lightweight headphones.
What's great about it: sound quality, build quality, PRICE.
What's not so great: cord is too short, fit a bit too tight.
Best Uses: At home

A cheap alternative to a top shelf over the ear set. Very comfortable fit with decent sound. Not very durable. Was a gift and already not working on one channel after just only one month. Will have to take back for an exchange.

When I got these, I planned to use them with my electronic drumset, and hoped for good audio. I was pretty disappointed with the audio quality of this set, and I think, if you're planning to use these for listening to music, I'd buy a nicer pair. They do work great for monitoring my instruments though, so if that's your plan, these are a good pair.
What's great about it: Really durable, reasonably comfortable, great price
What's not so great: Sound quality isn't great.

I purchased these for my son for Christmas and by Christmas night they were broken. The cord is soo long that he was wearing the headphones and stepped on the cord and it ripped the end "jack" out. Also his Ipod sound hasn't been the same since. I was trying to save a little money by buying these but I ended up having to get him a different pair and now I will more than likely have to pay for a repair to his ipod touch. You get what you pay for I guess.

Now; I'm not saying their anywhere near the best headphones out there. I sure hope you're not looking for the best headphones when looking at a $20 product.
Though I would stick a $50 price tag on these. Actually--I listened to the $50 sonys and they weren't near as good as this. They had a white noise amplifier that ran battery quick and didn't even do much better cancelling noise than with it off, the construction was pathetically done with binding on your head hurting your scalp, and the cups were on ear.
These have good binding, they don't cancel noise but then again dont require a stupid battery. They get very loud I only use them 25%-50%. They are sort of on ear/over ear. They're 30mm cups I believe.
Best deal for $20. I have been through many headsets but sold and traded most of them off or returned. Had $250 gaming ones, had $300 beats, had $600 seinheisers, but nothing compares do Razer Orcas aviailable at thier website ebay and amazon and they are only $50.
Though when I got rid of all my headsets I didn't have one for my friends to use. (When I game I like having a headset with a splitter and 2 people playing blackops. Recreational/Competetive ;) I was going to get more orcas till I found these. Now I love them!
What's great about it: Everything for the price
What's not so great: They're not going to replace a really good headset
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought a 2nd pair of these 6 months after the first as these have a good cord on them and seem very durable while still performing well.

I have been using these Sony headphones for 7 years and they sound great. I use to use them when I goto the store or other places with my mom but now I use them when I goto the library, or when I' am at home, etc by myself. I do use them to listen to my music, playing video games, etc on my computer. They do have very clear sound and good bass, mids and highs like big studio or stereo speakers. Overall these headphones are pretty flat response so you can use them in the recording studio. I do wish that the highs were little more brighter though but for $20 they are great.
When I put these headphones on for couple hours I do take them off since they start to feel kinda hot at times. They only hurt if I put them on wrong like I have to make sure the earpads are placed right on my ears so they don't put pressure on one area too much.
Sony has been making these headphones since 1999 so for the price these headphones must of been popular since then. I did get them around 2004 and they still work good as new since I take care of my stuff.
What's great about it: Long thick cord, Durable, Sound, Affordable price
What's not so great: The highs needs to be little more brighter.

My Father is very hard of hearing and as a result I have had to create a special setup for his television viewing experience. I used a RCA to 1/8" cable which leads into a FiiO E5 mini headphone amplifier. These are the headphones I then purchased for him because he needed something lightweight and affordable to replace when they ultimately wear down.
Overall, headset and cable construction are good and each pair lasts about a year of long with daily use before the cushions deteriorate. They have a nice simplistic style and I have even used them on occasion for sound editing due to the flippable earphone design. Another nice touch from Sony is that the tip sticks out a little extra bit to help fit through iPod cases.
My Father can make out every word on the TV now and I find that they sound quite good even for music listening.
What's great about it: Price, light weight, adjustable, Sony = reliable brand
What's not so great: Padding can wear down after 1-2 years
Best Uses: At home

My dad bought these for when he wanted to watch TV at night and not wake up my mother, but when my JVC HA-RX500 headphones dies, I started using them, and I use them everyday.
For general TV use, these are more than enough. Voices come through clear and bright, without overpowering bass that sometimes happens.
For music listening, or any kind of extended listening, they aren't that great. It makes up for most of this with its sound quality. Compared to my JVCs, the vocals and the highs come thorugh more, but the bass comes on a bit TOO strong. After a few hours, you'll have a headache and your ears will hurt. On my Walkman S545, no matter how much I try to make the sound balanced, it comes thorugh either muffled or hollow. Like you're playing music in a tunnel, except without the echo. I have a pair of headphones from when I bought my cassette player (Also a Sony product) and even though the sound is not as immersive and full, the sound is also more balanced and smooth.
Comfort is something of a problem. Even after a few months of wearing them, they are still extremely tight and put an annoying pressure on your outer ear. This causes them to become extremely senitive when you're taking them off and it just hurts when you try to reposition them. On the upside, they do stay on when you get way too into the music. The headband I like, but the ear cups, I don't. they should have combined the headband with an around-ear design instead of an on-ear design.
The durability of these is excellent though. Even after a few months of use, they still look brand new, and still have the finish on them.
What's great about it: staying power on your head
What's not so great: comfort
Best Uses: When I travel, At home

I bought these to replace my old Sony ear buds. Listening to music with those was bad on my ears, so I decided to get something new. These headphones are just right for me. They sit comfortably on my ears while I listen to music and study. The sound quality is better than all of my old headphones. The only complaint I have is the length of cord but that's nothing. The price that you pay for these is outstanding. If you like hearing a lot of bass or you just want some cool looking headphones, pick these up. They're great

I bought these headphones to replace my now 2-3 year old ones, also made by Sony. I was shocked to find how terrible the audio quality was when I tried them out. The output is very muffled, and sounds like you're listening to things through a door or pillow. My older ones are much clearer despite being slightly damaged and aged. I plan on taking these back immediately for better ones, and suggest anyone thinking of buying these test them out in the store, if able, or save the receipt if you do buy them.

I bought these a while back. Sounds is good, I especially like the bass. They block-out most outside noise. Some ppl complain about the sound, that's probably because the device they're using doesn't have an equalizer.
Anyways, best set i've owned...until i stepped on them. The plastic broke...and while they still work....they no longer keep their shape. Need to get a new set.
