What's great about it: Easy install, great sound quality, easy updating, cool looking
What's not so great: A bit pricey (kind of worth it though)
I've had this card for only a couple of days, but I can tell you - it rocks. The installation was easy, and it was up and running in no time. I bought this to replace my 5.1 X-fi external and l'm glad I did. The sound quality is amazing - gameplay is taken to another level and music is so much clearer. There's also a ton of customizable features for effects, Dolby, etc.
Also, that cheap external had this constant flickering noise in the background, and Windows "could not find a supported device" when I tried to update the drive (to be fair, I think I paid $40-$50 for it - so,you get what you pay for). Not so here - it was as if the OS had been waiting for this card all its life. Detected the card right away and the convenient auto-updater found the new driver for it. Unfortunately, the FTP server at Creative was uber slow that day and the 134MB download took a while.
This is a great all-around card. You can't go wrong with it. The only drawback is that when I bought it it was $149.99. Now, 2 days later, it's $109.99 - not too worried though, heading back to the Enfield store for some price-match action.
If you've got a decent system, add this in the mix - you won't be disappointed.
And now, for the geeky stuff:
W7 HP x64 10GB RAM
AMD Phenom II X4 2.9GHz
nVidia GTX 260 896MB - still runs like a champ
Antec Nine Hundred Two case
MX518 mouse
HP 23" LED monitor
Razer Carcharias headset

What's great about it: Great sound. Looks excellent.
What's not so great: $$$
As a avid gamer in my spare time, this sound card has several features that make it stand out. Though the only reason I purchased this card was the fact that I am too busy to RMA my motherboard that came with the 7.1 audio DOA, I have come to appreciate this card. However, is it worth the extra money to purchase this product in lieu of the on-board sound typically found on the majority of motherboards sold today... probably not. If your in the market for a high-end sound card, this is a great product!

What's great about it: Headphone amp, scout mode, stability.
What's not so great: Not designed to be an audiophile soundcard.
I think that I've probably installed and tested every soundcard that's ever been made and, so far, this is my favorite for gaming. It's as close to the near legendary Diamond Monster Sound MX300 that I've found.
Easy to install, had no conflicts or driver issues. Took maybe five minutes. Seriously, disable onboard sound, open up the computer, put it in, install drivers, and it works.
The magnetic shield built around the card eliminated virtually all the case noise even the pops and whistles over the front panel audio connector.
What's important beyond this is gaming and it sounds awesome in every game I play from Black Ops to World of Warcraft. It's especially sweet in Black Ops as it has this "scout" mode that increases the volume of people's footsteps making it much harder for anyone to sneak up on you. That, and the bass is just freaking amazing. There were times when I was taking my headphones off just to make sure that no one was shooting a gun somewhere nearby.
And getting to headphones, it has a headphone amp that works both through a special headphone jack on the card and also your front panel audio connector. I was able to get my headphones loud enough so that I was afraid I was either going to destroy them or liquefy my brain. One flaw in this is there seems to be no way of turning down the amp so you can use earbuds. I have an earbud headset (Razer Moray+) and I have to turn the volume down to maybe five percent just so I can tolerate how loud they are on the amplified jacks.
Musically, you're not likely getting this soundcard for music anyway. It's definitely better than any onboard sound but maybe not as good as the various ASUS soundcards or even the old Creative X-Fi. I do think that it sounds way better for hard rock or even classical than a lot of soundcards do but maybe that's just because I'm listening to those types of music with headphones and this card, unlike many others, has a headphone amp.
I definitely recommend this soundcard for anyone using their computer for gaming especially if you use a headset.

What's great about it: Easy to setup depending on case, reasonable price
What's not so great: nothing so far
I have my associates in Computer Science and I’m currently going to school for my bachelor’s degree in Computer Security. I build my custom Gaming rig to do homework but also listen to music, play games, and watch movies when I had free time while I was going to school. I recently found out that I could not do any updates nor play any games. I had to reformat my hard drive and lose a little data but did backups but they were all corrupted. I then installed Windows operating system but I was using the Generic audio from the onboard motherboard it wasn’t bad but was missing out with finding drivers and then they speakers weren’t putting out the sound that I wanted plus was missing the software. I decided to go and look for a sound card that was just dedicated to my motherboard using PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card. The card is Awesome I love it and sounds amazing as long as you do follow the instructions you should have no problem with it working.
