What's great about it: Good Battery Life, Amazing Onboard sound, Good Gaming Capability, stays cool (when not gaming) minimal "bloatware" 1080p
What's not so great: Trackpad will not be everyone's cup of tea.
I came to this laptop after two failures. First an Asus G74x with atrociously bad sound quality and a faulty keyboard, not to mention nearly 11 pound weight. Then a lighter Samsung laptop with an OS glitch that didn't apply admin rights to the administrator account. Just general bad luck. The main reason this laptop deserves a 5 is because of it's value. This laptop has a blu-ray player. 1080p screen, a 1GB dedicated ATI gaming card. It weighs just under 8 pounds, it looks like a mac book pro, slot loading tray, six. yes that's right -six- speakers. hearing a movie or song on this laptop sounds like an out of this world experience. The trackpad may be sensitive, yes, but it comes with a full set of options you can configure to make it closer to your liking. I honestly have not found anything wrong with this machine and I'm a picky person. As with any computer i do highly recommend you purchase the accidental protection plan. this laptop comes with 371 days of Norton internet security and a copy of adobe elements 9. For the pricetag you get a tremendous value and i think anyone who is like me: half gamer, half writer. you need a machine like this. it's slick and thin and comfortable to write on, and still with enough muscle to game as well. Writing on the Asus is not a comfortable thing to do, neither is on an Alienware. If you want a computer to game only, then those machines are the right ones for you. If you are like me however- not a headphone guy, need good onboard speakers and need something that can game but also good to have on your lap for writing and web browsing: then this is your machine. You shouldn't look upon the 3.0 rating and give this machine a chance. Don't turn down a bad product just because it has a low rating. I've come to understand doing that is a mistake.

What's great about it: Looks great! Pretty good performance.
What's not so great: HP does not care about its image.
I returned the Envy 15 because of the red being orange, the beats audio button sticking and stains on the back of the display cover. The red orange issue is an engineering problem, but the other issues are pure negligence!
I got the Envy 17 thinking that it was going to be an improvement and before even turning it on, I noticed the bottom cover was clanking, like it was not level. This was a brand new laptop just out of the box! ALso the bottom piece does not line up with the rest of the body. If you run your finger on one side of the laptop, it will trip. I had the same issue with the Envy 15.
The processor was great on the 15 and it is the same one in the 17, so I am sure it is also great.. The GPU is decent, the keyboard felt the same as the 15 and the 15's was fairly poor.
Overall, it could have been a great laptop, but the attention to quality is absolutely unaccaptable!

this laptop is thev greatest thing since grilled cheese. well built. and looks great. i returned 3 laptops till i finnaly got it right with this 1. it will not dissapoint.. money well spent.
