What's great about it: 5.1, Comfortable, Amazing Sound
What's not so great: None so far
This product offers up some of the best sound quality I have heard out of headphones in a good long while. When asked how they compare to Skull Candy, I just had to laugh. These two products are on completely different levels. Though the audio controls are a little difficult to work with when changing the EQ settings and the volume & bass controls are awkwardly positioned, they are drops in the bucket compared to the redeeming qualities of this headset. The mix pick up is almost too good... better hope the awkward conversations had in the background are not picked up. Great for both console gamers and PC gamers alike.

What's great about it: You hear every thing in the game
What's not so great: nothing really
I love these headphones. These are great for playing games like MW3 or BF3. You hear about twice as many things. No more sneaking up on me!
They're also great for watching late night tv or movies. I dont have to have any tv volume and these sound better anyways.

What's great about it: The surround sound immerses you right into the game.
What's not so great: Dogs and children, even my wife seem to be unaware of the cord.
The sound is great, the comfort is great. I tried the Turtle Beach - Ear Force X41 Headset for Xbox 360 and it kept shutting off and I had interference issues. The adjustable settings are hard to keep track of but otherwise straight-forward. Some people complain about the cord but that is why I bought them. No more batteries.
I do however sometimes forget the cord and stand up and get tangled and my dogs will snatch it right out of the 360 in the middle of a Halo Reach match and get me killed.
It kinda sucks that you are basically getting the x12 model and have to pay $60-70 for the dss2 module but I think it's worth it. The inline controls are pretty handy also.
I have a xbox 360s with a hdmi port and a optical digital output so I don't have any of the issues getting everything hooked up mentioned in some of the other reviews. I love it and i hope this helps.

What's great about it: Lots of equalizer settings, surround angles, and Dual-purpose capability
What's not so great: Cumbersome cord, sound channel muffles when I play music from PC
Great for those who use these for dual-purpose Xbox 360/PC. Signal is very consistent, DSS2 produces great output, and is USB powered! If you are very stationary, and don't want to worry about battery life, this is the headset for you.

What's great about it: Sound is great
What's not so great: No HDMI input
I own the previous version of this headset and I must say the quality of Turtle Beach products is very good. However, you should be careful to note what inputs and outputs you have on your receiver & tv etc.
Although this headset has a built in Dolby Digital processor, you have to run the optical cable from the Xbox 360 to the the small box containing the processor. The problem is that the Xbox has a huge design flaw where you can only use HDMI OR Component Video w/optical out. You cannot use both. This is because the Xbox optical input is on the actual head of the cord containing the component video cables. And this head blocks the HDMI port on the 360 when installed. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but HDMI gives you a gorgeous 1080p picture, whereas component gives you only 720p. So with this headset you will have to choose between 720p w/ 5.1 Dolby Digital OR 1080p w/ Dolby Pro Logic simulated surround sound because you will have to run optical cable to the Turtle Beach processor from your TV or Receiver. I have also noticed that turtle beach doesn't support ARC, so that your TV could hand-off the full Dolby Digital 5.1 to the headset. It doesn't.
This could have been resolved had Turtle Beach included an HDMI input on the processor case.

Even though I have not tried any other brands of gaming headsets, I can say that this headset is exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price. The sound quality is excellent and there are numerous configurations to choose from. For years, I used a $20.00 pair of old Sony stereo headphones and thought my games sounded good. I had no idea what I was missing. This headset does a good job with the simulated surround sound and even at max volume, the sound does not get muffled or distorted. I have my DSS 2 set to "treble and bass boost", and I turn the bass all the way down on my in-line volume control. I have found that to be the best sound combination for me. For $129.99, you can't go wrong with this headset. There are some wires to deal with, but it is a trade off if you don't want the popping, hissing, or interference of a comparable wireless set. Before you spend $250 - $300 on a gaming headset, give these a try and keep your receipt. Best Buy has a no hassle return policy.. I bet you will keep them!

What's great about it: Awesome sound! Drows out background noise!
What's not so great: The cord
These headphones block out the noises in your household, the kids running around and the people in the room talking so you can focus on the game. You can hear so many things from the game that you can't hear without wearing them. Love these!

What's great about it: Sound Quality and Volume, Adjustable Sound Angle and EQ Presets, Customizable, Comfortable
What's not so great: Having to deal with wire, can't charge remoted while using.
I have been in the market for close to a year now for a set of gaming headphones. Due to the mixed reviews of all gaming headsets, I was hesitant with the purchase. I have a very nice 5.1 Dolby Surround sound system that I have gamed on for years and with the quality it has, I didn't want to give that up to go to headphones. That being said, with a kid on the way, I am going to have to make the switch sooner than later.
I went to Best Buy looking at these and the Tritton AX720's. This Turtle Beach package, the DX12, is fairly new and I didn't really look at before going to Best Buy due to the lack of reviews online. My decision to go with the Turtle Beach over the Trittons was due to the Turtle Beach having 50mm speakers while the Tritton only has 40, TB has the presets and adjustable speaker angles while Tritton did not. And lastly, a lot of people don't realize this, but Tritton is made by Mad Catz. I had 3 Mad Catz controllers once, and they didn't work out, enough said. My point is, there are not a lot of reviews for this product, but don't let that sway you, it is newer and a Best Buy exclusive so until a lot of people give it reviews at Best Buy, it wont have many!
As far the the headphones go, they are AMAZING! I play a lot of Modern Warfare 2 and 3 and let me tell you, the improvement in my hearing people's footsteps, gunfire, background noise on maps, etc is worth it alone. The dedicated Chat Volume and Game Volume is huge. I cranked the headphones up as high as they would go the first day I had them, and 1 it hurt my ears, but 2, there was no distortion, AT ALL! Like I said, AMAZING! The headphones are comfy and they don't hurt my head or ears even after 4+ hours of straight game play.
A couple other things to note would be that even though they are not marketed as "noise cancelling headphones" good luck hearing anything external to your game while you are using these. Someone can talk right next to you and you are not going to hear them. With the amount of presets and different surround sound angles to choose from, you really need to take some time and read the manual and play with the settings before the headset works right for you. This might be frustrating for the person that just wants to plug them in and go, but this is definitely part of the value for someone like me that wants the headset to be CUSTOM to ME! As with any wired headset, you have to be careful not to step on the wires and stand up as to not damage the connections etc, but I would go with wired over wireless because of the quality any day and this is just a necessary evil.
One of the negatives I have, which I have heard of other TB users having, is that I cannot charge my controller via play and charge while using them. When using the headset and charging you get an electronic charging background noise that plays through the speakers and the microphone to others you are playing with. Simple solution in my mind, charge the remote while not playing, have a charged remote on standby, or have extra batteries around.

What's great about it: Great sound quality and comfortable headset.
What's not so great: Nothing do far.
Went through a bit a problem with the X-41's. To make a long story short, I live in a condo and there are way too many wireless points around my apartment. So wireless was out and I wanted surround sound.
So I gave up my X-1's for the Dx-12's.
Excellent sound. Read the manual carefully for the settings on the equalizer and the surround setting and you will be fine.
Great surround sound, and I had my doubts about single speakers doing the job, I was wrong. These headsets do it, and wired for no interference. If you are considering X-41's and you live in a apartment/condo surrounded by wireless point, don't do it. Go for wired sets. And this is the one for the job.

What's great about it: souround sound, good bass, great style.
What's not so great: lots of wires.
I bought these a few weeks ago and they are great...the surround sound is amazing and the bass is incredible. If you have never owned surround sound headphones i would go with these. The surround sound makes a difference in were the footsteps are coming from in FPS shooters like MW3. Definitely recommend to anyone who is serious about gaming. I only traded them back in so I could get ear-force deltas which are amazing!!!
