What's not so great: Hard to install wireless network
This is a great box but I had trouble installing on my wireless network. It wouldn't set network time which didn't allow it go to any further in the install. Hooked it up to Ethernet for a few minutes and all was good.

This has been the device that has solved all my issues with home entertainment. Its cheap, and puts everything into one menu. The youtube app is sub par since it doesn't have an option for new videos released from my suscriptions in a list but i have to go to each subscriber and view their latest videos. Amazing device to share and watch Netflix, Apple movies, music, and Hulu plus. You will not be disappointed.

What's great about it: Quality of product, ease of use, apple fan's must have product
What's not so great: Remote control a little too small, needs an app store
There's no better way to do away with cables for good like the Apple TV. Being able to play any content off your mobile Apple device remotely over WIFI to your HDTV without the use of wires is arguably the best feature of this device. But really, what wins the day with Apple TV is that it brings the best of the internet to your TV as simply and user friendly as possible.
The Apple TV loses points by not including an HDMI cable. For $100, it was a legitimate hope of ours. But inside, you do (thankfully) get an Apple TV box and a very thin and small remote control.
The device brings things like Youtube, Netflix, sports subscriptions, Vudu, Hulu Plus, etc. straight from the internet and onto your HDTV. Don't like clicking around from one letter to the next with your remote to search for a video? You can use the text keyboard of your iPhone to do it quickly (requires downloaded "remote" app and WIFI connection).
Like what's playing on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac computer? You can play it on your HDTV instantly any time you wish. Apple totally nailed the user experience with Apple TV and gave you plenty of options with which to perform tasks on it so that everyone would be happy.
With a comfortable price of $99 as well, it's hard to find a complaint about the Apple TV. I will say I do wish there was some sort of App Store to download more Apple TV custom apps instead of what's chosen for you by Apple. An update in the future can take care of that.

I use my Apple TV almost every day for Netflix or music from my iTunes library. Very easy to use especially when paired with the remote app on my iPhone. This product is almost perfect, however only certain apps are available. If I could add apps to my Apple TV, like I do to my iPhone, I would give this product a five-star rating. Apps I have in mind are Pandora and Spotify. Besides that I am very happy with the Apple TV.

Atv 3 is great. Movies in 1080p looks fantastic on a 1080p 55 lg led tv. Also AirPlay is a great feature to watch youtube on main tv. Had a problem stream iTunes 1080p movies from a pc, it would load forever. but if you have a MacBook streaming from iTunes to atv3 is almost instantly.

I have owned an apple TV since they first came out. I also have owned a Roku for most of that time. both services were nice. But I primarily used my Roku to get Netflix. with Netflix now on apple TV, no need for a new Roku.
I also hear CW is going to launch on Apple TV pretty soon. That will be a nice addition also.
I am an apple guy I wont deny it. But like most apple products it works, that is why I buy them and am an Apple guy.

First off, I use a Windows PC. I'm not a huge fan of the Mac OS look and feel even after years of using it for a previous job. I can use Mac, but choose not to out of preference, thought Windows 8 might be enough to make me switch. However, I do own an iPhone and an iPad and like iOS. All that being said, I would like to think that I can be very objective in deciding what devices to use and reviewing them. The Apple TV made sense for me because I wanted to stream things from my tiny phone or tablet screen to my 65" LED TV or my bedroom TV to share with friends/family in an easier on the eyes fashion.
The box was relatively easy to set up, and it would have been easier if not for my wireless security settings. Everything worked well and as advertised right out of the box. I logged into my AppleID and could stream content that I purchased in iTunes. After that though is where it falls short.
The Apple TV will let me steam iTunes from my desktop, which is in another room, but will not let me mirror my desktop itself like it does with my iOS devices. Not even my friend's Mac OSX can mirror natively. Besides the AirPlay feature that I don't use and the streaming of content from my iOS devices, the Apple TV doesn't do much more than my SMART TV does on its own.
There are other devices that are more compatible with my friend's devices like Android phones/tablets, Mac computers, Windows computers, and even Linux computers and basically serve as a way to get content from any device to my TV to share with everyone. The issue is that the more compatible the device is, the more complex it is to set up properly. Overall you really need to know what you need and what you can live without. I have iOS devices. That's it. I went with ease of using those which the Apple TV is the best at doing hands down. There are 3rd party apps (AirParrot) that can stream my desktop to it. My Android friends can send me a link and I can stream it from my devices. It works out to be my most cost effective solution.
