What's not so great: Price could be cheaper
I was having issues with one of my favorite FM stations coming in and out all the time. After I installed this antena; very easy I might add, the reception has been crisp and clear. Excellent product, but may be a bit pricey. I am happy with it.

What's not so great: Didn't work for me. I'm in a city of 200,000 with numerous radio stations go figure...
My Yamaha RXA 1000 receiver does not get good enough AM/FM signals even with this antenna. Local stations cut in and out. I went with a wireless router and internet/pandora radio... for those times when I listen to the radio...

Seems to work well so far - I have had this one for a little over a week. Had a similar Terk antenna that lasted about 8 years. I could spend more and might get a little better reception but is it worth it?

I bought this for our office, where we get lousy FM reception. I was encouraged because other reviews made it sound like this would help, but it was not any better than other antennas we have tried. I returned the product the following week. May be better if not around steel beams, but not for our office.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, looks cool.
What's not so great: Receives less channels then a regular Y antenna. SAD :(
I bought this antenna in order to get a Christian channel that is only about 7 miles from my house. They are a low power station. I plugged in the antenna and did not get the channel. My radio/alarm clock in my bedroom can get the station with no issues and the radio in my bathroom. So I experimented with just a wire, well I used speaker wire, plugged it into the FM antenna slot on my receiver, hung it over my curtains and I can the channel Crystal Clear. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ANTENNA! I will be returning mine as I only bought it a few days ago.

WOW!!! We're picking up stations that we never knew were available. Plug and go with only minor adjustments to our 30 year-old stereo. Long cords are really nice too! Looks sleak and mod to boot.
4 star on durability since we've only been using for a month, but don't see any reason for concern.

What's great about it: NOTHING!
What's not so great: The reception for the price... Absolute JUNK!
I bought this antenna 2 years ago because, well, just because. Actually, I wanted something sleek and stylish to compliment my Denon home theater system that is mounted 2 feet from an east wall. This upgrade was in lieu of a 16 gauge speaker wire inserted in the FM slot and distastefully hanging from a finish nail in my crown molding.
To cut to the chase...no matter where I put this antenna...no matter where...in a window, north, east or west, (again, NO matter where) the reception is WORSE than a 10' length of speaker wire installed where this TERK antenna should go. I live within 20 miles of all of the main radio towers for the radio stations I listen to. Ironically, I pulled a Cleveland and Toledo station with a 10 foot piece of speaker wire and couldn't even get a decent signal without static with this Terk.
So my fellow consumer...Lets compare. A 50 cent piece of speaker wire, or a $35 "antenna".
This antenna is absolute garbage.
I gave it 1 star for durability...It was thrown in the garbage. I could have sold it on Ebay, but wanted to save someone else the heartache.

What's great about it: It is tunable and will pull in distant stations
What's not so great: the wires it comes with could be LONGER
I see that a lot of people are giving this product a lousy review. I suspect that this is because they're not reading the manual. I don't think they realize that for it to really work, you need to tune the antenna to the station you're trying to pull in. You may need to re-tune it as you move to a different station. I have a feeling some people are not realizing this and therefore are giving it a bad review.
I just want to bring its review rating up a notch!
Buy this if you need a good external FM antenna that also happens to look nice!

What's great about it: Looks Nice
What's not so great: Lack of improvement in reception.
I bought this antenna with the hope that it would help with the AM reception in my office. It made the situation worse. I was unable to get a signal at all, even after repeated changes in the location of the antenna.
FM reception was poor at best. I had much better luck with the 2 wire setup that my system came with! I could barely pull in any clear signals with the Tower. As soon as I switched an put in the freebie with my radio, I had perfect audio.
This a poor antenna, and should not be bought.

What's great about it: Small footprint, huge gain in signal strength
What's not so great: Very directional (as many antennas are), requires patience and fine-tuning (but then works fantastic)
This amplified antenna works great, but with a caveat. It took a bit of experimentation to get the signal sounding crystal clear. The antenna has two signal wires, one a two-wire for spring-type connections, and the other, a 75-ohm coaxial connection. The manufacturer's instructions state to connect one of the two connections. I connected this antenna to a Pioneer 7.1 receiver. Using the coaxial, I got some improvement, but the static was disruptively loud.
To really tune the antenna, I connected the other wires to the AM spring-type antenna jacks and oddly, the static on the FM dropped dramatically. Plugging in the antenna's power brick made the signal absolutely crystal clear. But here is the kicker. I forgot that the outlet I plugged into is a switched outlet and has no power by default. Crystal clear sound. Turn on that outlet's power... loads of static. Awful sound. Cut the power. Crystal clear. Unplug the power brick from the wall. Tons of static again. Plug it in, with no AC power actually turned on, crystal clear sound. Apparently, it is using the ground and/or the electrical conductors to extend the antenna.
Sorry for the prolonged explanation, but this antenna DOES work great. It just takes some fine-tuning. I would buy this again, even with the adjustment needed to make it work this well. A third-grader with a bit of patience could tune this. Buy it!

Best spent 33 dollars ever. In the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav, rabbit ears and other tv antenna were VERY hard to come by because the power and cable line were just about 100% destroyed... The All-Star sales guy at Best Buy here in Baton Rouge turned me on to the Terk and the rest is history...I just plugged it into my TV and voila, TV! I haven't hooked it to my Stereo reciever yet but I've sold 2 more for same application as mine! Great product, and great Best Buy service! Thanks for the help.

What's not so great: Short wires don't allow you to move it around!
Rabbit ears or just a Wire works as well as this antenna does, so save your money. I found that a non-amplified, simple t.v. antenna with the rotory dial works best. I liken this antenna to a volume control. What ever your existing radio sounds like, is amplified louder by this - static, cross talk and all. I have a background in electronics so believe me when I say, don't waste electricity on this.

What's great about it: Quick set-up, easy attachment
What's not so great: None
This product does an excellent job of improving FM signals. I attached it to my Bose Wave Radio and stations with static instantly went to crisp and clear. The Bose doesn't have a place to attach AM leads from the antenna, so it didn't improve my AM station reception.
As an old time electronics sales guy, when I see negative reviews for this and other antennas, I would like to point out that most people don't really understand antennas very well. Proper placement (not "shielded" by anything metal or near broad spectrum interference sources like computers, fluorescent lighting, signal not obstructed by buildings, hills, height above surrounding terrain, etc.) and the availability of enough signal to work with are crucial. And "active" (i.e. powered electronically amplified) will generally do better than "passive" antennas.

What's great about it: Near Perfect Reception
What's not so great: AC Power isn't needed
I purchased this one year ago when I messed up my Edge antenna, and the edge was quite flimsy. This one, does quite a bit better. I'm getting in stations 90 Miles Away that I usually would not receive. However, it is supposedly amplified, the amplification is a joke, you do not even need it. I realized that as I unplugged the AC Power Adapter and it worked the same. But, if you want a variety of FM Radio Stations, this one does the trick.

What's great about it: None
What's not so great: Didn't improve reception at all
I get about 14 FM stations in my apartment, several of which are weak and have a lot of static, even though they are local. I bought this antenna hoping it would improve reception of those stations, but it did not. Reception was no better than with the plain wire antenna that came with the stereo. In fact, the reception of one station was significantly worse with the Terk antenna compared to the wire antenna.
The instructions recommend placing the antenna away from the stereo and speakers (and televisions, computers, etc.), but the wires are not long enough to move it very far away. They instructions also recommend placing the antenna near a window, but again the wires are not long enough to do that unless your whole stereo set-up is near a window.
I plan to return this product.
