What's great about it: good firmware
What's not so great: Not N technology, price
"This was a very solid router but in todays standard is kind of a dinosaur. With the price still being high, there are other things on the market that are better, even in the linksys tree of products."

What's great about it: good price, easy to install and set up.
What's not so great: low transfer rates, seems to get jammed up
"I have the wireless-g with the speed booster and it works most of the time. About once a month I have to hold the reset button on the back because my dns is unresolved. Also everytime you have to reset it you lose all your settings. I have had 2 wireless-g's and both did the same thing. This is good for everyday internet use but not for gaming. I recently upgraded to the d-link wireless-n gaming router and it is nothing short of amazing. 1000 mb/sec transfer rates are amazing for online gaming."

What's great about it: Linksys name and reputation, easy to install and setup
What's not so great: none yet
"This was an incredibly easy install even with setting up the wireless security. I have a DSL modem/router and didn't need a wireless router, only the wireless access point. So, it just plugs in to another port on my DSL modem/router and it worked right away. Followed the directions for setting up security, and it was done. It's much faster than I initially anticipated and while the range isn't great, it reaches everywhere in the house. I would buy this product again."

What's great about it: Good range, less expensive.
What's not so great: Lasted for 4 years.
"I enjoyed this product until It started giving problems. I was kind of disappointed but since it worked perfectly for 4 years, I guess it is time to try something else. I bought the netgear rangeplus which is faster. The reviews on Netgear are not great but I hope it lasts as long as the linksys did, if not more. I chose Netgear because it is reported to be more energy efficient , has double firewall protection, promises more efficiency with VOIP and gaming which my son does a lot."

Awesome Router!

What's great about it: Cost, Reliability, Features, Ease of use
What's not so great: Iffy Networking Software
"This router was a great deal. I purchased it about 6 months back when my belkin router would fail every time me and my room mate tried to play xbox live together. This router has no such problems. We have three laptops and two xboxs connected to this bad boy and she runs like a champ. The wifi is very strong. I have it setup under my bed currently and it works all through the (large) apartment. The only downside I found is the easy linksys connect software that it has you install on your computer is iffy at times and does not always run how I would like it. Plus in order to access any of the routers features anyway you have to go to the IP site. So I don't see the point of the Linksys software running because you can't control the other devices using it, just see them."

What's great about it: Speed and reliability
What's not so great: Somewhat difficult setup for beginner users
"Purchased this with a Linksys network card and have had nothing but good results. The range works further than advertised. It is used with a PC and a laptop in different areas of the house. Have had maybe two network connectivity problems that were resolved shortly after with a refresh of the device. Can also go outside and still recieve good connectivity. Security features are a plus. May require additional assistance for inexperienced users."

Worst router
08/06/2008
By Ryces

What's great about it: Easy to set up
What's not so great: Never connects nor works
"This is the worst router I have ever owned, I have a 360 which never connects, my wife is a teacher who needs the internet and her computer never connects to the internet, before we had to constantly disconnect it and reconnect it to even work, now nothing works, my wife uses the neighbor's internet connection and I have no internet. We constantly called the cable provider but they aren't the problem considering all the neighbors have the same cable provider and theirs works fine. I wouldnt recommend this product to my worst enemy."

What's great about it: Setup, cost, consistent performance
What's not so great: None found after 6 months
"This access point links 2 hardwired computers and 2 wireless computers for me. Hookup through my cable modem was made simple by the Linsys software. I had a wireless N before this that was a nightmare to set up and I had to call support many times. This one has operated flawlessly. Combining with the McAfee Firewall and Virus program was as simple as the setup was."

Wonderful....

"I just got this for my work, and have set up using the web-browser based setup interface. It's a bit flaky user interface, but gets the job done and is straight forward. Also, it seems to have lower sync rate than SMC 802.11b Barricade wireless access point I have used before with my Netgear MA401 card. It takes a while for the computer to recognize (like 20 seconds instead of instantaneous) that it is receiving a good signal after waking up from a standby. The signal strength is excellent, though I will be increasing that with their optional signal booster WSB24. Tech rep said that 802.11b signal booster also works fine with this 54G access point to increase the signal strength because both protocols use the 2.4GHz range, which is a definite plus if you need good coverage. I will be getting their 54mbps card within a couple of days, so this will be interesting, as I am using the Netgear MA401 card right now and experiencing this slight delay in re-synchronizing after a wake up from standby. I've had problems making Macintosh to access with the WEP enabled (both 64bit and 128bit), but may be likely that is a Mac problem. All in all, it is so far an excellent value, should be interesting to see what the signal booster and a 54G card should do in addition to this access point..."

What's great about it: Works great, good range
What's not so great: occasionally needs resetting
"I purchased this router over a year ago, and it has worked great, other than the fact that it occasionally needs to be reset, but that happens maybe once a month. It has handled our house's 5+ computers, xbox 360, PS3 and Wii all quite nicely. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to break into the wireless world."

Not Very Reliable
05/30/2008

What's great about it: Easy to install, good range
What's not so great: Sporadic internet connection
"This is the first router I've purchased and we got it for my husband's X-Box 360 almost five months ago. While it was easy to install and set up, I find that the internet connection is sporadic and unpredictable (we have DSL). I frequently have to reconnect and reconfigure the network. Since I rely heavily on my computer for school, this is a huge inconvenience. I might be in the middle of sending an email or attending a class and all of a sudden my internet isn't working even though the icon (you know, the little globe on the computers in the lower right hand corner) is showing I'm connected. For the first three months, this never happened. We had reliable connection, and no problems. I don't know what's causing it, and we've tried the fixes, calling our internet provider, computer IT department, but notta. So now I disconnect the router during the day when I'm using the computer and reconnect it in the evening for my husband to sign in to X-Box. Personally, I think that's too much aggravation to deal with for an electronic device we've owned for less than six months."

What's great about it: Easy to use, reliable, quality equipment
What's not so great: none that I can think of
"This is by far the best wireless router I've ever purchased. I've used D-Link and Netgear before and even though they are good products, Linksys is by far the most reliable. I would suggest to anyone looking for network gear to consider this one. I would purchase this one again."
