What's great about it: Nice suction power
What's not so great: Sometimes clogs
"I works pretty good as many reviewers comments. Suction power is enough to clean and dry up your carpet in a minute. But frequent tilting over and heavy load of dirts sometimes cloggs vaccume line. Not easy to manuver for women. But surely works fine. I Like this."

Really Good Steam Vac

What's great about it: Easy to Use, Cleans Well
What's not so great: Heavy, Solution Tank Empties Quickly
"I had bought a Bissel 4 years earlier and had been pretty happy with it but over the last year it was not cleaning as good. So when the Bissel stopped dispensing the solution properly I looked at the reviews for the Hoover. This Steam Vac works just as the other reviews said and is much easier to use then the Bissel for about half the price. I like the two tank system and it is easy to remove both tanks during the cleaning process. The only thing that I would say is an issue is the solution tank goes really quick when steam cleaning your carpet the way the instructions recommends. I had to remove and refill the solution tank about 6 times for a smaller sized living room. Also for bigger stains I had to go over them many more times with this Steam Vac then my previous one. But the ease of use and good job it does cleaning my carpets makes it a easy recommendation to anyone who wants good value for a good cleaner."

"This steam cleaner is great!
We recently moved into a great rental property with one major problem -- FILTHY carpets. (Seriously... yuck! They were actually STICKY, they were so dirty!!!) The landlord promised to have them professionally cleaned before we moved in, but guess what...
On top of that, my dog didn't adjust well to the move and essentially had to be re-housebroken. AND my 2-year-old is potty training (and having plenty of accidents).
As you can imagine, I was at my absolute wit's end after a couple of weeks. I just couldn't live like that!!!
I considered renting a steam cleaner, but figured I'd need to re-rent every time my dog "acted out" or my kid didn't make it to the potty in time -- forget that! So I bit the bullet and bought this model.
I COULDN'T LOVE AN APPLIANCE MORE!!!!!!
It's easy to use and got an astounding amount of gunk out of the carpet -- which is berber... not easy to clean. Since using this machine, the stickiness is completely gone, and the carpet is at least 3 shades lighter! (In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that the machine didn't get ALL the stains out -- but I seriously doubt ANY machine could.)
I rated the "features" as 4 stars, only because the dirty-water-recapture tank can be tricky to attach. You have to make sure it is seated exactly right, or the machine won't suck back up the water it puts down. Once you get the hang of it, though, it's really no problem.
All in all, this cleaner is ABSOLUTELY worth the money. I was about to have a nervous breakdown over my carpet situation -- now I'm perfectly happy! (AND content in the knowledge that I'll be ready when one of my little darlings has another accident!)
Trust me -- your carpets COULDN'T be dirtier than mine were, and I'm thrilled by this machine's performance. I'm sure you will be, too!"

What's great about it: No bending. Not too heavy. Cleaned pretty well.
What's not so great: Vacuum part stopped working after the 1st use!
"I used it once. It worked quite well. No problem operating it. Liked that it was upright. I used to have a canister shampooer that was backbreaking.
I went to use it again the next day and the vacuum would not suck up the water. the carpet stayed wet and messed up the laminate floor underneath very sad. Now it sits in the closet waiting for me to deal with it. ."

What's great about it: Does a great job at cleaning carpets, furniture, even cars!
What's not so great: There is no real steam (but it still works)
"We bought this expecting it would work like the Rug Doctor you can rent at your local supermarket. We were disapointed there does not seem to be a heating element, the water came out cold, or warm if we added warm water to the tank.
However, it still does a great job. The SteamVac did great at cleaning our dining set upholstery, our carpet and our living room furniture. When you take out the tank it really is impressive how dirty it is, even after you thought you had done a good job vacuuming.
In all, highly recommended."

What's not so great: after ten moths, no suction, brushes wont spin on the rug....
"It is kind of heavy but most use it downstairs, the water pick up tank a little small, always needs emptying. However after ten months the broushes will not spin, unless they are off the floor and there is no suction. If I can find the recept, it is back to the store or whatevfer, if not, there is a Hoover in my future!"

"I haven't had the carpets in my apartment cleaned since I'd moved in...5 years ago, and lets assume that I've spilled everything from Anchovy Dip to Zucchini Hummus on them. This thing cleaned em!!!!! I couldn't believe it, figured for clean carpets I'd just move. I passed on the Hoover brand Cleaning Solution and used LA's Awesome the first run with Pine Sol to finish the job, looks great, smells great, was 3 bucks \o/. Assembly was a breeze, only needed instruction to figure out where the 3rd nut went. Its extra. Bad thing is it 99.8% Plastic (0.2% being the screws and i'm guessin there ain't a whole lotta metal in those) so you need to avoid crashing into furniture while gently installing tanks. I saw a lot of complaints about suction, I can see why. You have to make sure your tank seal is free of debris and properly seated, if not it doesn't work. All-In-All this machine is great."

"I am so pleased with this cleaner! I just finished using it and had to write a review!
I have three dogs (including 1 puppy!) and my carpets were in desperate need of a cleaning. I thought about calling a professional, but just didn't want to go through the hassle of it all including the price!
I looked at all the reviews on the top cleaners and ended up buying this one...and am so glad I did! My husband thought I was crazy and that it wouldn't work, but he was surprised just as much as I was!
I was learly at first. I didn't know if it would be hard to use. The assembly was easy (I did it myself), read the directions on how to use it, and then went to town! It was just as easy as vacuuming!
It got out ALL of my puppy's stains and left my rooms smelling so fresh! I didn't have to go back and forth over and over to get the stain out at all (and some of the stains were not new).
I am so pleased with this cleaner, I have a big grin on my face!
This cleaner did a great job for a great price! I wish I would have bought one years ago instead of spending all kinds of money on professional cleaning companies!"

"Bought this the day we closed on our first home--a foreclosure that needed cleaning pretty bad. I at least wanted to get the downstairs cleaned before moving in the next day. Set up was quick & easy, and the instructions are brief and easy-to-follow--and BONUS--it comes with a bottle of cleaning solution. It's a heavy machine, as it should be, and the back and forth motion does take some time. But the results were professional quality--I'm so glad I bought this for current and future use instead of spending the same amount for a company to come out one time. I got two rooms finished in 1 1/2 hrs--one was 110 sq ft & the other was 275 sq ft. The soapy water tank runs out one moment & the dirty water receptacle fills up a few minutes later, so there's lots of back and forth to the sink. I have read in other reviews that this machine is superior in that it has removable tanks--I say thank goodness. The machine did stop sucking at one point leading me to discover that the dirty water receptacle MUST be clamped in there just right. I love the way you can see the dirty water being sucked up out of the carpet on the back stroke though. Unfortunately, all that dirty goop is still in the front see-thru part, and it looks gross, but they DO give you instructions on how to clean that out. I'm ready to tackle our upstairs now...and have it smell so clean like the downstairs does. I highly recommend this machine."

"This actually did a pretty good job of rug shampooing. The hotter the water the better the cleaning so before putting the hot water(and detergent) in the machine put the hot water in a microwavable container and nuke it to get it hotter. Don't go crazy on this, about 180* should do it. The problem that I experienced was the motor overheating and burning itself out. I did not misuse this so a higher quality motor would definitely take care of the problem. That or this motor was somewhat defective to begin with."

"This Stemvac works great! I had debated getting my carper cleaned professionally and I am so glad I did not, and decided to buy this and give it a try. The one thing I did realize with this machine is that when I went over the carpet with the solution it worked great, but if I let that dry then went over it again with just hot water it did WONDERS!!! My carpet in areas was BLACK and now it looks like new!! I cant believe this cleaner got my carpet looking like new again... instead of me having to hire someone to do it professionally. Highly Recommended!!"

"I finally got tired of my old Bissell Pro Heat just not getting the job done. I have had to order parts quite a few times in the past and it has steadily gone downhill over time. The Hoover Steam Clean spinbrushes do a better job and won't need a belt like the Bissell. I read many reviews on this product before I decided to buy it. Aside from a few quirks (If the flap on the collection tank isn't seated properly, it won't vacuum up anything) it has been a great machine and my carpets look MUCH better than before. We have kids and a dog so this machine is a necessity to clean up after the mess they leave behind. I bought this unit online for the sale price of $149 with in-store pickup. The units in the store were still labled for the full retail price, so I saved $25. If you are looking for a great machine at a great price, this is the one to buy!"

"I read all of the reviews and was excited to get a decent working machine and for the first three uses it did just what I had hoped.
Now it stopped sucking up the water air blows out from the end not in and the attachments do not work.
At first I looked for a switch I thought I hit to reverse the suction but there is none and alas this Hoover turned out just like every other hoover
I do not recommend this at all."

"It does the job. Gets rid of very deep set in stains. My husband and I moved into an apartment were the rugs were absolutely disguisting. Stains everywhere... We purchased a Bissell basic steam vacc thinking it would do the job..WRONG. We then went with the Hoover.. Oh my God! Stains gone in just one swipe of the steam vacc. The only down side is that its pretty heavy. Will be a pain if you have to go up and down stairs. But you know what...its worth it and the price isnt too bad either."

"I have never owned a steam cleaner for my carpet, so I read a lot of reviews before I took the plunge. I decided on the Hoover SteamVac with Clean Surge and my husband and I both love it! It almost makes cleaning the carpet fun. It was very easy to put together and use. I was worried that the water containers would be too small, but that wasn't a problem at all. In fact, they were perfect - not too small that you had to exchange it too often; not too big to carry. I loved being able to see the water getting sucked up - I could tell exactly where the wettest spots were. Rentals leave behind a swamp, so that was another concern of mine. Not an issue - the carpet doesn't feel soaked and it dries pretty quickly. Also, it was evident that it was doing a great cleaning job. Overall, it does a great job and I couldn't be happier with my purchase."

"This steam cleaner exceeded my expectations. It would have cost more money to hire a professional cleaning service, and I think I got the carpet cleaner than a professional would. This was a great value! Definitely worth every penny. I couldn't believe how dirty the water was, even when I used water only for the optional rinse cycle (no carpet cleaning solution added). I have to say, I actually had fun doing this. I was also amazed at how much water the Hoover sucked back out of the carpets- they were dry in no time! I would highly recommend this steam cleaner. I wish I had gotten it sooner!"

"This steam vac is super easy to use and assemble. I did some research and this particular model has great reviews on many sites. The cleaning power was *amazing* (see before and after photos!) I was pleasantly surprised to find it even came with cleaning solution!
Dumping dirty water is super easy, unlike other models that have separate dirty/clean water tanks. I like that the tanks are completely separate, its not a "bladder" design if you will - so it's not messy at all.
Cleans phenomenally!!!"
