Don't Waste Your Money

What's great about it: Looks nice
What's not so great: Grinder Mess
"The whole concept of a grinder coffee maker is great but the coffee maker creates so much steam that the grinder is steam filled gunky mess. It takes so much time to clean out the wet grinder that you could grind the beans by hand in less time. Don't waste your money unless you are looking for a counter decoration."

Worst coffemaker ever

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: It's very bulky and difficult to use and clean. It's noisy and tempermental
"I have had this coffepot for the past 2 months and it has been nothing but trouble. I would not recommend it to anyone. It is difficult to clean. It is difficult to pour without making a mess. You cannot see how much coffee is left in the thermal carafe and even if you turn it upside down, you cannot get all of the coffee out. I am going out today to find another coffeepot. Unfortunatly, cuisinart seems to have the monopoly on grind and brew coffeemakers at this point. I will continue my quest to find another coffeepot manufacturer who can make a good grind and brew coffeepot. We need more female engineers!"

What's great about it: Classy and Loyal
What's not so great: Everything is good
"I have had this coffee maker for over 3 years and we make 2-3 pots a day. It has been a loyal consistant machine and it looks great in my $20,000 kitchen. It is still going strong and I love it! Buy one... you won't be sorry!"

What's great about it: Great features
What's not so great: It doesn't work
"Buy 2 or 3 because you'll need them when they stop working...Bought this machine along with the $80 model that doesn't have a grinder. Both are in the trash. This one, after 3 months, stopped working. It brews for a minute or 2, and shuts off. Then you have to stand at the machine and watch it, and turn it back on every time it shuts off. Takes about an hour to brew a pot. I threw it away and bought a Mr. Coffee for $19.99. It works great, and it's just as programmable. I bought a Bodum burr grinder which is far quieter and crushes the beans instead of cutting them, a preferrable way to grind. This machine can do all kinds of things and has a huge list of features. The one thing it can't do is make coffee."

What's great about it: fresh ground beans every morning
What's not so great: somewhat of a hassle to clean
"We set it up every night and have it grind the coffee beans and make the brew every morning. Timer is flawless. Don't forget to empty the carafe or you will get coffee everywhere when it runs over."

What's great about it: Nice to look at
What's not so great: Cleaning is quite a task...
"Real quick... we've had two of these units... Same design. We are now looking for a different design and maker. The coffee bean "holder" will NOT come out of the coffee maker without a pliers to pull it out. ( Yes we've ONLY washed it by hand. ) ( Truly NO exaggeration ) We've oiled and cleaned and greased...ect. Still need a pliers to remove the cup each time you clean the machine, which means EVERY time you make coffee. We have a beautiful coffee bar~~> with pliers next to it. Makes for a wonderful conversation piece. ( Very unhappy as you can tell, but our fault for falling into this a second time. )"

A little Disapointing

What's great about it: Great taste
What's not so great: Not Hot Enough
"I am now on my second machine after taking the 1st one back. Even when using the 1-4 cup feature, the coffee is just not that hot. The guide lines recommend that you warm the caraffe before you use the machine to get the coffee HOT. How the are you supposed to do that on a timer? I am guessing I need to get one that is not thermal. Great taste but a little noisey!"

Mr. Coffee RULES!

What's not so great: Cuisinart customer service is really poor as well
"I recently purchased a 10 cup Automatic coffee maker w/grinder in December and it is no longer brewing a full pot of coffee. It will brew about 2-3 cups and stop brewing. I can turn it on again and "rebrew" without the grind function and it will do another 2 - 3 cups. It takes me 3 tries to get the full pot. The coffee is excellent and it looks cool too. I really loved the coffee maker until this started. I am very disappointed that I spent $130 and the Coffee Maker lasted only 2 months. In the past I have spent $25 to $30 dollars on coffee makers and they have lasted years. When I contacted Quisinart Customer service I was asked to jump through hoops to clean it and "reset" it and told I may have to pay for repairs. I will no longer consider Cuisinart in ANY of my future kitchen appliance purchases."

You had me at "Thermal Carafe"
01/01/2008

What's great about it: Thermal Carafe
What's not so great: A little hard to clean. Not fond of the top of the carafe.
"The thermal carafe is why I bought this product. No glass and no coffee boiling down to dregs on a warmer. The coffee stays fresh for hours and the grinder is optional if you want to grind your coffee in a separate grinder to your own specific taste (course or fine). For most of the time I love that it grinds and brews all in one step. I’ve had no problem with the brew basket popping out. I am not enamored with the mechanism in the top of the carafe (it pours slowly and you almost have to turn it upside down to get the last of the coffee). The parts are also a little difficult to clean but the positives certainly overcome any negatives."

Cuisinart - pretty but just ok
12/02/2007
By digger1
|
What's great about it: Pretty
What's not so great: requires medium coarse grind coffee, canot control brew strength
"Nice design -- but not for making good coffee. Only one setting: automatic = coarse medium grind and circular basket is not efficient design getting the most out of your beans. We enjoy strong french roast or espresso roast coffee. Camnot control size of grind or strength of the brew. And there are more parts that require assembly, disassembly and cleaning. Also filling water requires looking down the back of the machine for measurement. ok if you're tall and machine is stationed 2-3 inches in front of you on the counter. Otherwise you have to yank it forward to see water measurement inside. External water level view would be so much more convenient."

What's great about it: Thermal carafe, fresh ground taste
What's not so great: Can be tough to clean, but worth it...
"I had a grind and brew coffemakers almost 25 years ago, and was sorry when it finally gave up the ghost. I was very happy to get this and get back to truly fresh-brewed taste. Regarding the cleanup, this unit is much better than my first grind & brew machine. While it does have more parts to clean than a standard coffeemaker, I find that if I rinse and clean it immediately after brewing, it's almost effortless and takes only moments. And I can always fall back to tossing the parts in the dishwasher, too! That's a plus... Others have commented on the brew basket popping out, but I just remember to push in the lower front center and I never have a problem with the latch. Finally, this is my first experience with a thermal carafe, and it's just great! The warmer kicks on to get the carafe toasty, and then the coffee stays fresh and warm for hours. The combination of grind & brew taste, coupled with the thermal carafe, makes this the best coffeemaker I've ever owned."

What a mess!
11/20/2007
By Bend
|
What's great about it: Attractive all-in-one design
What's not so great: The basket door keeps popping open, spilling coffee and coffee grounds; hard to clean
"This coffee maker worked well initially. Then increasingly the basket door started popping open during the grind and/or brew stage, spilling coffee grounds and/or coffee everywhere. What a mess! Now, the basket door pops open virtually everytime I use the machine, so I have to stand by to close the door quickly each time it opens. In addition, it's not easy to clean the machine after each use, and the bin that holds the beans is now often difficult to remove for cleaning. You'll find similar comments on other on-line review sites. I will say that when everything does work fine the coffee is good -- but what a hassle! I'm now shopping for a replacement."

Best Coffee Pot We've Had
10/09/2007
By customer525
|
What's great about it: Great Coffee. Stays hot for 4 hours!
What's not so great: Bit of a process making the coffee, but worth it!
"We've had our coffee pot for 2 years now. The coffee is better than a lot of coffee sold in town. We are avid coffee drinkers and are really sold on the quality of this coffee maker. Since the coffee is not sitting on a burner, you can even reheat the coffee after the 4 hours and enjoy it. We'll buy it again when it wears out!"
