What's great about it: PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING
What's not so great: FOX'S CANCELLATION OF THE SHOW AFTER ONE SEASON
"I had purchased the DVD of Serenity. After watching it several times I was wishing that there was more. I found that it had been a Short lived TV series on Fox. After checking out Best Buy, they had the complete series for a good price. I purchased the DVD set and started watching it. I became very involved in the characters, the plots and the overall way the shows were created. I can't believe the 14 episodes went so quick while I watched them. This was created in 2002 and this show was so much better than all this Reality TV shows & paid programming that seems to be taking over all the stations. It's a shame that the people at Fox made the mistake of not making more of this show. Well all I can say is that with all the bad shows they have on TV now, I definetly will be watching this DVD set a lot more."

"I think this series was ended too soon - but I didn't find it until after it ended, so I had no way of convincing the network to keep it. While I find the bad Chinese mixed in with English to be a bit irritating, there are more than enough humor points for me to thoroughly enjoy myself.
I loved the characterization and character development as well."

What's great about it: Quirky comedy meets good plots
What's not so great: Yanked off the air by greedy corperate
"Joss Whedon does a fantastic job, too bad he was only allowed 12 or so episodes to introduce us to these great characters. Fox should be ashamed of themselves for buying up a great show solely for the purpose of shutting it down. Only the fan outcry made them publish the series to DVD. Hooray for fans! You let Mainstream Media know you wanted a movie! Watch Serenity next peeps."

"This is a classic show that got canceled way too soon. The characters all seem real and well developed, and the plots are entertaining. The mix of comedy, sci-fi, and drama is brilliant. If you have not seen this show, don't hesitate to buy it because you won't be disappointed."

Greatest television show known to mankind...

What's great about it: Acting, stories, writing, directing, effects, characters, plot... EVERYTHING
What's not so great: Being cancelled so early...
"I am not a fan of science fiction... I would go so far as to say that I sincerely HATE most of it. Firefly is different. From the first time I watched an episode, I was hooked. Everything about this show is different and compelling to watch. There's action, comedy, romance, suspense, drama and every other genre title under the sun. Everything meshes so well that it's hard not to get sucked in. You come to care so much about the characters that it's nearly heartbreaking to know that it's the only season that will ever be.
Check out Serenity for a little closure..."

What's great about it: Great characters and stories
What's not so great: cancelled before it's time
"Canceling this show was one of Fox's biggest mistakes. This is one of my favorite sci-fi shows ever, not because of visuals or crazy plots lines but because it has a great story and some of the best characters ever on tv. They did follow this up with the movie Serenity to bring some closure but I still would like to see this show come back."

Sci-Fi's hidden gem

What's great about it: High production value, quality scripts, origianl world(s), and great acting
What's not so great: Only 13 episodes
"I am a big fan of science fiction, however, I do believe that 90% of the Sci-Fi out there is terrible. Firefly is definitely a hidden gem that lands in the top 10%.
Had it not been for inconsistent time slots, Firefly would have become a TV success to surpass all of Joss Whedon's (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) previous projects. However, despite being canceled early in it's life, this box inspired enough loyal supporters to warrant a follow-up wide-release film, Serenity.
The plot synopsis will catch you up on what the show is about, but as a fan, I highly recommend giving it a shot. After episode 13, you'll be clambering to track down Serenity."

Excellent (but short) series

What's great about it: Good stories
What's not so great: 1 or 2 slow episodes
"I've owned this set for quite a while and just haven't gotten around to watch it. I finaly did see it recently and couldn't quit watching. I basically watched 1 episode a night for just over two weeks. It was easy to get into, had great character development and was really interesting.
Firefly isn't what you'd expect in a typical sci-fi show. It's very much a sci fi western. They even transport cattle in one episode. The outfits are a conglomeration of Western, Chinese and 80's sci fi uniforms.
The acting is excellent, the shows have interesting twists and turns and I wish more people (including me) had known about this gold mine when it was actually on TV. It'd be nice to see a good sci fi show on the air.
I haven't seen Serenity (the movie) yet, but I do own it and will be watching it soon."

"This would be my one DVD set to save if the house were on fire. I normally don't watch shows more than once, but I have watched these at least twice already, and that is saying a lot. If you would have told me I would love a western scifi show, I would have chuckled, but this doesn't get any better. 14 episodes is all you will get, so savor them. I am still incredulous that the show was cancelled and there is no plan to bring it back. And if you are a female and can get through the series without a serious crush on Nathan Fillion, you are tough!!"

"Another show that received an undeserved cancellation too early from the network that refused to air the episodes in the original order. Joss Whedon struck another hit with this 'Space Western'. With a great cast and the same witty banter you have come to expect from his shows, we can only hope that Firefly will make a comeback someday. A must see for anyone, in my opinion."

"Watching this show allows viewers a chance to see the genius of Joss Whedon. Although I am not a giant science fiction fan, I could not turn away from this powerful series. This is, to put it simply, what science fiction should be. It is horrible that the series was not continued. It ends with so much left to tell. You will regret missing this television gem."

"This DVD collection was the Premise to the movie "Serenity". The TV Series only ran for 1 season before FOX pulled it. The series details the adventures of a group of people who are very different, yet are able to come together and work as a team. Think of it as a Space adventure meets the Wild West. Great series and I would reccommend it to everyone!"
