What's not so great: No better reception than before
I did not get any better reception than with the old wire antenna that I was using before. Took it back.

What's great about it: Nice looks
What's not so great: Poor reception
I wasn't happy with the reception that I had with the antenna included with my new receiver so I researched antennas and this unit was given fairly impressive marks. After an expected easy installation, the reception wasn't any better. Not worth spending the money on an antenna that doesn't provide any better reception than the one that came with the receiver.

What's great about it: Only real choice, looks good, does work as an antenna.
What's not so great: Expensive for what you get, doesn't perform as well as hoped.
Finding a combined AM/FM radio antenna is not that easy these days. Radio listening seems to have declined, or at least using radios that take add-on antennas. I needed a combined AM/FM radio antenna for use with a Sony table-top HD Radio that I got used without the original antenna.
I had tested the unit with a TV antenna and it worked OK, but was hoping a dedicated AM/FM radio antenna would do better. It turned out that it helped AM reception a little, but didn't really improve FM reception.
But overall, this antenna is OK, but nothing that special.

What's not so great: Doesn't improve FM OR AM reception
I was hoping to improve my FM reception and get AM also. There was absolutely no improvement. There was still much static on even the close by FM stations and I received absolutely no AM reception. I get clear FM reception in the same room with my small pocket HD radio which uses the ear phone wires as an antenna.

What's great about it: Ease of use, only 1 antenna instead of 2.
What's not so great: Reception.
I just tried this device and the results were not any better than the 2 antennas I was already using.
Perhaps I need to invest in the power-assist model.
Depending on how good one's reception is in general, this may or may not be a good device to purchase.
I have always had trouble with radio and tv signals and hoped this would correct my problem.
I have a Terk tower antenna at work and it works quite well.

What's great about it: Cheap, compact, attractive
What's not so great: poor performer
I bought this to replace a twin lead antenna, because the twin lead looks trashy on my living room wall. The performance is on a par with the twin lead - no better, no worse. The only redeeming feature is it looks better.
It's 25 miles to the nearest store, so it isn't worth the expense to return it.

What's great about it: Simple, No power required, AM and FM
What's not so great: Can't connect to all equipment out of the box, not omni directional
I bought this antenna to replace one of those flat "T" type atennas that often come with a stero reciever or radio. In my office, the orginal antenna looked crummy tacked to my wall and didn't work well, so I decided to pick up this unit to replace it. Unfortunately that type of antenna is designed for 300 ohms and the Trek unit is a 75 ohm antenna. This is not a big problem accept that it doesn't work unless you get a 75-300 ohm matching transformer. You might remember these units from an old TV that had two screws on the back for an external antenna, but you needed to connect it to a cable connection (75 ohm). Anyway they're cheap ($5) and still available at Radio Shack. I picked one up and the antenna now works great. There is a similar unit packaged with the antenna, but it only converts from coaxial (cable type connector) to two wires. This unit can be used if you have a two wire connection for a 75 ohm antenna, but not if you have two screws for a 300 ohm. You can look at the back of your radio/reciever and it will tell you which type you need. From my research, all the Trek FM antennas only have the right connections for 75 ohm though some retailers say they have the 75 to 300 transformer included. I'm pretty certain that they are mistakeing the 75 to 75 unit I discribed for a transformer becase they pretty much look the same and have no marking on them. The included manual however explains what it is.
Annother minor point: The antenna is discribed as omni-directional, meaning that it can pick up stations from all directions. I found that I improved reception to some stations by turning it.
The AM connection is always the same and it works fine.

What's great about it: Receives great reception for all stations.
What's not so great: Can't think of any...
I live about 40 miles away form Chicago and 35 miles away from Milwaukee and I pick up great reception on most of my stations. I can't think of any downside to the antenna. I can even pick up good TV reception with it. I don't live in a low area, but I don't live on the top of a hill. I haven't tried this antenna with a HD radio so I can't say anything about that situation, but if you have an regular receiver it works wonders.
