Works well on all-Linksys LANs

What's great about it: Linksys reliability, Secure Easy Setup
What's not so great: Requires Linksys cards for optimum speed
"I have installed a several of these Speedbooster routers, and they work pretty well. It supports the Secure Easy Setup with Linksys routers. The router will also work with other 802.11b and g equipment, although you won't get the full benefit unless you run Linksys speedboost equipment at the workstation as well.
If you are willing to purchase Linksys speedboost cards for your laptop and/or desktop, then buy this router. If not (or if you have a laptop with integrated wireless capability) then SAVE YOUR MONEY and buy either the WRT54G or one of the newer n-class routers.
I found the Secure Easy Setup feature worked well, and you will be able to configure the network with a minimum of fuss. Only requirements: You WILL need to run the software when you install each card (not just installing the driver). This is what gives you access to the Secure Easy Setup routine. You will NOT need to run any software for the router (even though Linksys tells you to), just push the button at the appropriate time to set your encryption."

What's not so great: Doesnt work well with Verizon DSL
"I spent over 4 hours trying to make this work with Verizon DSL service to find out that there "modem" has the same ip address with the router. After changing the address of the router & finally getting the internet to work, the router is blocking access to the other computers on my network. So much for easy setup & file sharing!!!!!!!!!!!"

What's great about it: Easy to set up and faster than average 802.11g routers.
What's not so great: You'll need SpeedBooster client card for optimal performance.
"High-performing, standards-based router with extensive feature set. I have a mix (b/g) network and all computers connect w/out a problem. Top speeds and I always have an excellent connection!!!"

Worst purchase ever!

"I would never /ever purchase another Linksys anything! I would never recommend it to anyone. I have wasted countless time via the telephone..up to two hours at a time. The last time I was told the system was bad & I should return it but because it was not verified by a sr. technician, I am NOT authorized to return this non-working product. Again I have to sit and waste more time with a sr. technician tonight so that they could make a final decision after more troubleshooting. This is the last time that I will simple endure anymore punishment from Linksys! DO NOT BUY!"

"the set up is so easy all you have to pop in a CD follow the directions and you are done. It works really well with your internet connection, i think it even got faster. Its perfect for Xbox live"

"This was a problem out of the box. It replaced a wired linksys router. I have used these products for over 10 years with no problem. I spent nearly three hours with technical support while they had me manually enter the settings and reflash the modem. After two months of sporadic operation, if wireless is enabled, the internet connection is lost.
They should have replaced it. They didn't. They are being replaced with a competitors product. Never again will I buy a Linksys anything."

What's great about it: Its fast when it woks
What's not so great: stops woking after a few months
"I am on my second router. The first one stopped woking after a month. The unit was not powering up even though it was never shut off or moved. I got an exchange from Best Buy on Nov 17th, and as of today Dec 2nd, my computer can not detect the router any more. This is going back and I am switching brands."

"I really like the product and its ease of use. However, the only problem I had was during setup. A windows pop up message displayed the following; "low connectivity and/or no connection" to the internet. After talking to customer service, they reported that Verizon sets up they're wired router's IP address the same as Linksys. The step by step service had corrected this issue and even walked through the rest. A++

What's not so great: was NOT a 1-2-3 step thing, TOOK FOREVER, bad support
"Alright, I bought this yesterday and as soon as I came home, I was expecting this to be easy. Well it wasn't. It took me 4 hours trying to make it work, and I gave up. Then woke up and did another 4 hours, though I suddenly connected through luck.....
anyway, Linksys isn't very good with technical support and probably doesn't know their own problems. my problem was with the IP, and nothing in the book said anything about that. just be sure to look up the Linksys forums or something to technical support instead, it helped a lot.
so far its fine, a BIT faster, and I can connect my PSP fine with it, though there is no security because it couldn't connect WITH security -_-
also I chose NO to recommending because I know there are better stuff out there, AND Linksys can be very bad or very good, it's luck if you get "very good"."

"Yes this product has amazingly fast and easy setup, but i found that even the wired connection through this product is a bit dodgey, not to mention the terrible wireless connection. I had it for about two weeks and it was great, but after that connection quality went down hill for another 2 months till it stopped working all together. I am convinced to go get a wired router now and preferably not made by Linksys"

What's great about it: Easy set up, excellent speed and connectivity.
"I had to purchase this router after my Sorry d-link router dropped signal after signal. This router is 1000% better than my D-link router. The customer service for linksys is 1000% better as well. Call D-link on the weekend, and no one will answer the phone. Linksys technical support is 24/7. Awesome Purchase. I recommend this product to anyone and over any router sold by D-link."

What's not so great: Bad connection, Bad customer support
"I bought this item because we were setting up a wireless internet throughout our house. This item was easy to set up BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. I spent hours with the customer support people who I could barely understand. They got it fixed for about 30 minutes and then it did the same problem over again. After about 1 week of this I just returned it and bought a Netgear one and have not had any problems since. The customer support people just kept telling me to do the same thing over and over even after I told them that this same thing didn't work last time I called. I also tried to ask one of the gentlemen a question but he basically ignored the question and just hung up on me."

"I bought this router to replace a wireless B router. Since I set up the B with no experience, it was great to not have to go through setup with the G. The software sets the router up for you.
The only problem that I've encountered with the router (or maybe it's the adapter) is the range. My house is not that big, and the matching adapter that I bought to go with the router still gets a signal that ranges from Very Poor to Good."

"I spent 7 hours with Linksys support and my ISP and could not get this router to work. Linksys kept referring me back to my ISP saying my modem wasn't completely bridged and my ISP kept saying Linksys was mistaken. I have Vista but was told that wasn't the problem."

"This is a very good purchase, it is easy to install, configure. It sometimes drops the connection, but I find it easy to fix the problem. It is easy to add peripherials an other computers, and the speed is fast, unlike others. Overall it is a good purchase for the price."

What's great about it: Easy to install; easy instructions
"I've had this router for about two weeks and it is great! I wasn't sure if I'd be able to set it up correctly but it came with great instructions. When it was all said and done, I had my wireless network up and running in about 10 minutes. It has excellent range and transmits data extremely fast, too. I can't imagine ever going back to a hard-wired system."

What's not so great: Constant connection drops, Linksys tech support is useless
"The unit constantly drops its internet connection, for a reason that no one at Linksys has been able to determine. If you read through postings on the Linksys community site at http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board?board.id=Wireless_Routers
you will see that many, many users have this problem, and no fix is forthcoming from Linksys. This is apparently a systemic issue for this router, and maybe for other Linksys routers as well.
If I had read through these reviews prior to buying this unit in August 07, I would never have bought it. Fool me once, etc.
I wanted to like this thing, but it's a lemon."
