Great, depending on room size

What's great about it: Sound is simply amazing, bass is nice and small footprint
What's not so great: Nothing
"I have to say, these speakers are simply amazing. Although I did return them for the 7004's, it was NOT because the speakers werent good. Believe me I wish could have saved the bucks.. but when it comes down to room size and matching the speaker with the right center channel, the 7006 was just not enough... again, GREAT SOUND.. both in HT and Music.
What is unfortunate is that you don't see many folks who write reviews .. tell you what the size of their room is. My room is 13.5' x 23' with a ceiling height of 10'. The 7006's were JUST a little to small for this room. I have the DEF TECH CLR 2002 Center, which is also a little to much for the 7006's. Even though the speakers have powered subs, I already own the Klipsch 10 powered sub, so this is also added in my configuration. My receiver is the new Onkyo 807.. (i'll be adding a review on that) and my rear speakers are built in wall Boston Acoustics....
Either way, I had the 7006's installed in this config, and although the sound was amazing, they were just a little to weak for the room.
Beautiful sound, great look.. the only thing I don't like is the sock these are wrapped in.. kind of strange!"

What's great about it: Sound quality is exceptional, easy set up
What's not so great: Grill cloth sock doesn't lie great at the top cap junction
"Simply amazing! Out of the box these speakers sound incredible! I also bought the 2300 center channel speaker and the sound is fantastic. There is absolutely no need for a separate subwoofer. It's nice to eliminate that piece of hardware. Price is not cheap but you get what you pay for. It was well worth it."

What's great about it: Full Spectrum Sound...Great Value For Price Paid
What's not so great: Nothing So Far...
"I went to a Magnolia Home theater showroom at my local Best Buy and was blown away by the BP7006 Def Tech speakers...compared to the similar priced Klipsch (Klipsch did have more defined highs but overall, the Def Techs put them to shame). I am using these with a 52" Sony XBR, a Def Tech 2002 center channel speaker and two Speakercraft AIM 8's in the rear ceiling...also using a Def Tech supercube 2 subwoofer...I like the fact that the salesman (manager) put together a package price based on the fact that I was buying a lot of stuff...didn't plan on getting a new receiver either but did wind up getting a Denon 2808 receiver...didn't mind only two HDMI inputs which work just fine for me and although only two HDMI's, this receiver otherwise is identical to the $1,150 2809...and I only paid $599 for it in what was probably the only unopened 2808 around...took some time to find but was well worth it...you can't believe the sound in my home theater system...it ROCKS !!!!"

What's great about it: everything, highs, lows, mids, subwoofer control
What's not so great: not a thing
"I decided to just do two of these towers instead of the Def Tech 1000 series speakers and they just sound amazing. I still have probably 45ish hours left before they break in, and they sound amazing now, can't wait until they are broken in.
I originally had the Z2300 logitech speakers hooked up to my tv, and they were nice, but they were either too loud or to quite, bass to heavy or non existant, and I like the fact I can turn the subwoofers down to the level I want so I don't bug everybody at night."

What's great about it: Small footprint. Tremendous sound.
What's not so great: Takes quite a while to tune.
"Love these speakers. No need to balance sub. Bipolar design is fantastic. Speakers sound the same no matter where you go in the house. Extremely versatile sub. Creates the full spectrum of base tones."

What's great about it: Very clear, Subwoofer is excellent
What's not so great: Back in 10 years...None so far
"Got the pair and set it up in my home theater. Awesome indeed. The bass bigs up when needed and does not overwhelm the other sounds. In steroe mode a get a good mix of clear distinct sound. Offcourse my receiver (High end Pioneer) plays a role however the speakers have been a great investment indeed."

Great speaker for the money

What's great about it: Built in subwoofer with volume control, clean highs, very crisp and clean at all volumes
What's not so great: space consuming
"These are great speakers. Out of the box they do require a little breaking in until they reach their fullest potential. (They are really harsh out of the box) The built in subwoofers do a good enough job that an additional sub isn't even needed. These speakers have a nice clean highs and are the perfect home theater speaker. Initially I much preferred the Martin Logan's and the Vienna Acoustic's for music, however I now think that these speakers do better for a wider range of music."

Nice Big Little Towers
04/28/2008

What's great about it: Very good deep and clear sound for a small tower.
What's not so great: Unsightly power cord and seemingly cheesy sock cover.
"The complete sound that comes out of these speakers can't be beat for the price. They are a lot of fun with the built in subs and put out crystal clear highs. The foot print is nice and small but one needs to be a little creative about hiding the cord (and finding a power outlet) for the powered sub. Also the delicate cloth sock covers are probably not going to hold up in an environment with kids and pets running wild. I would give these speakers a 5 star rating if I thought the cloth covers would stand the test of time, but I will say they are a high 4. Overall the sound and price makes them worth it. They are used in a two channel system with a Cambridge Audio 740A Azur integrated amp."

What's great about it: Great Sound, Great Clarity, Deep Bass
What's not so great: None
"I've had these speakers for two days now, and I love them. The bass is so deep that you want need an additional sub with them. I'm using them exclusively for music. I have an Infinity set-up for my movie watching, which sounds awesome. I was worried that these speakers would not be big enough for the room I'm using them in. They fill the room with plenty of sound and power to spare. I'm powering them with a Harmon Kardan receiver. The sound is so clean and spacious. Just listen to Eric Clapton's "Lonely Stranger" from his "Unplugged" cd. These speakers are making me fall in love with music listening all over again. The bass is tighter and cleaner than using an outside sub. The cross over points between the mid ranges and the lows is seamless...You want believe how much bass these speakers can deliver. Do yourself a favor and check these speakers out. They definitely deliver!"

What's great about it: Balanced clean powerful sound, size
What's not so great: none
"My first review I have ever written for anything. Simply the best home/theatre speakers I have ever owned. Mine are connected to a Denon AVR-2807 receiver which I'm sure doesn't hurt. Definitely connect yours to a matched quality receiver. For those of you out there that has a spouse that doesn't want a living room full of speakers and you still want room-filling surround type sound that shakes the foundation then these are definitely for you. I do not have a stand alone subwoofer as these built-in subs do the trick. Buy them at the store as UPS may bang them up."

Incredible speakers!

What's great about it: Sound, built in sub, aesthetics
What's not so great: Location off the wall
"These are very impressive sounding speakers. They are incredible for both music and movies. The subs inside the speakers are powerful enough to where you don't really need an external sub unless you really want one. The bi-polar design allows you to get the amazing effect of the speakers no matter where you are seated.
The only downside of these speakers are where they have to be located. Many people don't know that if you take the top plate off the speaker, that is the distance that it is supposed to be from the wall.
Try to use a powerful receiver with these speakers. At minimum, the Denon 2308."

Excellent

What's great about it: Versatile and Terrific Sound
What's not so great: No removable Grill; flimsy sock instead
"I believe I finally found the speakers I've been searching for. I use the speakers 80-90% of the time listening to music, and the rest of the time watching movies. I rated these speakers 5 stars for music, and 4 to 4.5 for movies.
My family room is as acoustically challenging as it can be. It has all tile floors; the furniture arrangement and shape of the room make it very difficult to ensure every sitting position is in an acceptable sweet spot. Only one position receives adequate bass/treble levels, while any other sitting position has either too much/little bass or too little/much treble, etc
I've auditioned just about every speaker, subwoofer brand and tried all possible speaker/subwoofer placements around the room to no avail. I've come close, but was never completely satisfied.
Then came the BP7006. These bipolar speakers and their omni-directional aluminum tweeters distribute beautiful mids and highs throughout the entire listening area EQUALLY. The BP7006's fully independent, individually adjustable amplified subwoofers, when teamed up with my strategically placed Velodyne powered subwoofer, ensure that perfectly equal bass/low frequency notes can be heard and felt from ANY listening position in the room.
It took a LOT of tweaking (subwoofer volume for each speaker and the Velodyne, distance of the towers from the walls, placement of the Velodyne, etc.) but in the end, the efforts were well worth it.
Below are my settings:
1. BP7006's amplified subwoofers facing AWAY from each other.
2. BP7006's about 8 inches from the back wall. Velodyne Subwoofer near the opposite wall.
3. BP7006's connected to my Yamaha Receiver via 12 guage speaker wires. Although the BP7006's can be connected to the receiver by LFE input, I left those disconnected. My receiver's LFE output was hooked up only to my powered Velodyne subwoofer.
4. Amplifier settings: Front speakers (BP7006's) set to LARGE, but the receiver's Bass Output was set to send all frequencies 90Hz and below to BOTH the Velodyne Subwoofer and the BP7006's subwoofers.
Listening to music with these speakers is pure heaven especially with their warm, soothing sound. I could listen to music ALL DAY, hear all the details and not feel fatigued.
Movies' soundtracks and effects are reproduced wonderfully, and teamed up with my Def Tech CLR2002 center channel, every sound is clear and crisp.
Highly recommended, and I wished I'd tried them sooner ---that would've saved me a lot of headaches!!"

"Hooked this up to my Denon 4308 and put in Seabiscuit. Blew us away with the sound. Incredible detailed sound, made the scenes so realistic that my dog jumped from his bed thinking the horses were coming at him. Put in a CD of Phantom of the Opera and heard details from the speakers we've never heard before. Base and mid range notes all clear and concise and provide a great stereo experience."

"I hooked these speakers up thru a y-adapter to my Pioneer receiver calibrated them and put on a couple of movies, and palyed the xbox 360 elite thru hdmi, the speakers rock. My room is 25x25 and the Def Tech's do a nice job of filling the room with even sound great bass no need for an extra sub."
