Good fridge good deal 01/03/2008

Pros: Energy efficient, quiet, split adjust shelves
Cons: butter dish a bit large maybe not best door space use

"We shopped around and this is the best deal locally on an energy efficient bottom freezer in the 30 inch wide category. Maytag is made by Amana so if you read consumer reports in 2007 for reviews the Amana version is a CR best buy--maytag has slightly different inside looking components (better in my opinion). We upgraded from a cruddy 14 cu ft fridge top freezer to this one. Love having the fruits veggies and all food at eye level and the clear shelves to see whats in the bins. I've only had it for less than a week so I can't speak to the long term but I'll let you know if it fails on me. The door bins in the LG fell out easy vs the Maytag/Amana and energy efficiency wasn't there in the LG and GE models unless you were willing to spend an extra $400-600 for a profile or pull out freezer bin."

A great refrigerator 10/18/2007

Pros: Eye level fresh food; good cold level; right size freezer on bottom
Cons: The slide-out produce bins should be a little larger.

"We are so happy with our Maytag fridge. It is great to be able to see everything at eye level in the fresh food section instead of losing things at the back of the box as with a top-freezer model. There is plenty of room for a lot of food. With the adjustable door bins, I can keep my condiments organized and it's great to keep gallon sized milk jugs so handy. They stay nice and cold even in the door bin. The freezer holds a lot of items so I don't have to run down the basement to the big freezer as often, a plus for older people. When I run out of room in the produce bins, I put the items in a covered container on the shelf until I have room in the bins. It is extremely quiet when running and is very well insulated. When the electricity recently went off for 24 hours, food in my basement freezer began to thaw, but in the Maytag fridge, everything was still cold and frozen! Highly recommend this unit and it fits into a smaller space which we needed."

What a great fridge 09/17/2007

"I love this fridge! It has the great bottom freezer and while it takes a little time to adjust to the reverse order, it is so easy to see what is in the crispers and bottom shelves of the refrigerator part. It's nice looking to boot if you like simple clean designs."
