What's great about it: Noise cancelling & decent sound
What's not so great: Not super durable
I like to listen to my music super loud- these headphones keep others from hearing what I'm blasting & provide enough volume to ensure I'll be deaf by 40.

What's great about it: Lightweight
What's not so great: Very Flimsy, Cheap Plastic, Speaker drivers are garbage
I've owned these headphones for about 10 months now with almost daily use. (Avg. 1-3 hours a day)
I have played many movies and a lot of different kinds of music on them. However, the drivers within the speakers are pure garbage. I listen to music and movies on these headphones around 60dB. (which is about slightly higher than the average conversation in a quiet room)
10 months later, everything and almost anything distorts on these headphones. When I'm listening to say, a rock concert, I the guitars are distorted, incase you don't know what that means; it means instead of sounding very clean and crisp, it sounds like a piece of paper that's being crumpled up.
(P.S. The music I listen to is all in a lossless format; ....no MP3's, meaning that distortion is not my music)

I didn't realize over the ear headphones could sound so great. I tried these for the first time on flight to the west coast. They did a great canceling out the noise on a loud commuter flight and were perfect for the jet flight. I could finally enjoy a movie on my laptop without the constant background noise from the airplane. Bass, mid range and treble were clear and crisp. For the price, you can't go wrong.

What's great about it: Sounds good, Comfortable,
What's not so great: Bad Noise-Cancelling,Bad Bass
I bought these headphones a long time back. First, it is NOT a noise-cancelling headphone. When you activate noise cancellation, all it does is to increase/change the way it sounds and introduces a white noise which could be pretty uncomfortable. The only good thing about activating it is that it actually improves the way it sounds. I listen at high volumes and so the white noise is not much of a problem (or rather I got used to it). These earphones sounded bad when I bought them. Now(after 6 months of use), they actually sound good. Nice Crisp sound (only when you activate noise-cancellation) but the bass is flat (or no bass at all). I am bass-lover and I shouldnt have bought this headphone without reading reviews(My bad). They are comfortable though and light-weight. Overall, for the 50 bucks i paid, they aren't worth it. If you want a noise-cancelling headphone, guess you have to spend more than this or buy an in-ear headphone.

What's great about it: Block out a lot of background noise
What's not so great: Create white noise, uncomfortable.
I use these on airplanes, roadtrips, and when my neighbors are playing loud music. They decrease the background noise enough to make a huge difference in highway or airplane noise, although they don't eliminate it completely, and the noise canceling generates a small amount of white noise. Using these, I can hear my own music without turning the volume way up.
I do find that they get really uncomfortable after I've worn them for more than an hour.

What's great about it: Price, Noise-Canceling Ability, Travels Well
What's not so great: Can be bulky!
I recieved these as a xmas gift over 4 years ago and they are still as amazing as the day I got them! I am actually buying them for a friend and could not believe all the bad comments, so I am leaving my two-cents!! I travel out of the country a few times a year and these are the only headphones I will ever use. They have taken quite a beating over the last few years, but you could never tell. I absolutely love them and all sony products!!!! =0)

This is a nice thing to have when you want to block out surrounding noise and still enjoy what you are trying to listen to. The first day I had them I was in a room with a TV on listening to music and when I activated the noise canceling feature I couldn't hear the TV at all and then my wife came in and started talking to me and I could not hear a word she was saying! She didn't believe me so she put them on and I started talking and she didn't think I was saying anything. Long story short, they work very well for blocking out unwanted noise. We even use them when doing yard work to help block out the noise of the lawnmower, it doesn't block it all, it's a lawnmower, but it does help you hear the music more clearly than without noise canceling. They also include a carrying pouch and airplane jack converter.

What's great about it: it is lightweight
What's not so great: does not cancel the noise as professed
The product does not work as well as offered. Noise cancelling is ineffecient but does help somewhat. I would not recommend this product.

I've been obsessively researching headphones for the last 6 months and have read that ear-canal earplugs can quickly ruin your ears and that music experts frown on the "closed" and noise canceling features as they compromise the brightness of sound. I concluded that I would stay away from those phones and thought I would have to spend at a minimum 100 dollars for the Sony MDR 7506 headphones, but then a student came to my class with the MDR-NC6, I asked if I could try them and he played his iPod. I was amazed. Far greater sound than other headphones I own (in the 50-dollar range). For me these headphones delivered the "wow factor," the feeling the music is really taking me for a magic carpet ride. My quest for a 100-dollar or more phone has ended as I am more than happy with the MDR-NC6.

What's great about it: Brand Name, convenient-sized headphones
What's not so great: Noise-canceling barely works
I purchased this a week ago (it'll be a week, tomorrow), hoping the noise-canceling function was promising, but was utterly disappointed with that option as it doesn't work as efficiently as it said it would.
I love how professional it looks and its size is quite impressive, but I'm (sadly) disappointed in Sony - I've always known them to be a reliably-sufficient brand, but I never knew of its down-falls.
Sadly enough, I wouldn't recommend the headphones to anyone who expects nothing, but the best from Sony.

What's great about it: Sound great, low price, no problems
What's not so great: None
I have had these headphones for over a year and use them all the time and have had absolutely no problems. I thought I would write a review after reading all the negative ones on here while shopping for another product. It seems like every pair of headphones I get either stop working or get broke but these have been exceptionally durable and always sound great. I like a full sound with lots of bass and these deliver. I just got back from a trip and used the noise cancelling on the plane with no problems. I don't think they have the best style and maybe I have just been lucky but I love these headphones.

What's great about it: I use the noise cancellation for amplification.
What's not so great: Could have a slight slimmer design yet.
Now that this product is compatible with IPhone, I would recommend this product for causal at home use. Comfortable and the amplification supplied by the 1 AAA battery for noise cancellation supplies the best value yet for sound. Since the IPhone has little power, the boost given by the these headphones makes up for it nicely in sound quality; sure there's a bit a background noise but when you have it cranked...who cares! I would recommend these headphones for any IPhone user; for the price it's simply hard to beat currently.

What's great about it: Lightweight and comfortable
What's not so great: Unit buzzes when I turn noise-cancelling on
I had high hopes for these folding headphones. Because they are Sony branded, I hoped I would be able to use them for a while. They worked well on my long train trip, reducing the rumbling so I could enjoy my music. I used them for my workouts and had no trouble with them, until a week ago. When I turned on the noise-cancelling feature I heard a loud, annoying buzz in the background of my music. Thinking it must be the battery, I immediately changed it with no success. I can still use the headphoes, but not with noise-cancelling. What a disappointment!

What's great about it: It cancels most noise and has very high sound quality.
What's not so great: Certain pitches of noise it doesn't even lessen.
This does include human voice range when canceling so you can talk to other people without having to take off the headphones. I was surprised to find out how much quieter it was in my own house even! It's also sort of nice that you don't have it plugged into anything to use the noise cancellation. There are some rather high pitch noises that it does not cancel that would be much nicer if they were. It also makes funny noises when there is some digitally generated sound near by sometimes.
